I don't mean any disrespect and glad that folks are getting approved but I am one of those people being waiting without any update other than case is received.   The USCIS application processing system is messed in such a way that folks are waiting unnecessarily long to be approved.   I see folks getting approved as fast as 3-4 months while unlucky ones wait over a year or more.

The whole system is messed up and unfair.  Trump administration's is anti-immigration policies maybe part at fault .  I hope Biden administration makes some changes so that folks who want to part of this country can do so quickly and not wait months and years.   Call you senators and Congress and complain.

We waited over a year since the last update. Nov 7th 2019 was the last update we had until yesterday. Nothing changed or moved on our case since that day. We filed in July just like everyone here and our case was in Potomac and I know generally those are approved without an interview.

I just came on here to post and let everybody know that things do seem to be moving even if they aren’t updating the cases online. I know it’s very frustrating as we are clearly all in the same boat. It all very much depends on what service center you are at, what processing agent gets your case on their desk, and unfortunately what country you are from. I think you’re absolutely right about the current administration and I hope things go differently starting in January.

    Hello everyone,

i received an email that my case status changed to card production yesterday.

i did biometrics in Nov 2019 and didn't have an interview.

My initial application was July 2019

    i applied for N400 in September 2020

    good luck to everyone

Congrats! This is so odd to me. We have the exact same timeline as you, and yet no updates whatsoever since biometrics last November. It's really annoying that they don't seem to have a proper system.

Hello all! I filed at the end of June 2019 (can't remember the exact date off hand, something like 28/29/30th) and had my case updated to say the new card is being sent. So no RFE, no interview. Did fingerprints November 2019, and had news until just this morning. Potomac (YSC). So hopefully some of you July YSC people will get some news soon!

That's great news. Congrats! I hope things move along. We are early July filers and also had fingerprints in November, and our case is in Potomac. Nothing has moved for us, but I hope this is a good sign.

According to the old Infopass appointment website:

    https://my.uscis.gov/en/appointment/v2

It says "If you are inside the United States, you can no longer schedule an appointment online using InfoPass for domestic offices." I'm pretty sure do to Covid, you have to call now to schedule an appointment. I can login to my USCIS account and if I click "schedule an appointment" It just redirects back to the link above.

Oh perfect, good to know! Thanks. Since we have never been able to get in to the account, I wanted to make sure we weren't missing anything.

Our cases are pretty much identical, my biometrics were in November and I'm at Potomac too.

I just applied for n400 on Tuesday. I don't think Potomac is moving at all and n400 fees are going up October 2nd

This might be a silly question, but what is an n400? Also, are you worried about the extension letter as well? We are supposed to be traveling next June and are worried we won't be able to. Also not sure why other centers seem to be moving but Potomac is not.

You have to call USCIS to request for an appointment. After that, someone at your local field office will contact you about that. Right now, you can only get an appointment for the stamp one week before extension letter set to expired. I'm take a look at your timeline and you still have 4 more months.

Yes- we do have time! On the website it says you can make an appointment through your account which is why we wanted to get that part sorted now. Who knows what things will look like 4 months from now.

  7. Hi everyone. My husband as been trying for months to get into his USCIS account. We haven't been able to get into it at all, even on the day he made it because it asked for some information and a number we don't have but I don't remember specifically what it asked for. I don't think he was able to complete making his account because of this, but the website must think he did finish the process. Anyway, he tried to reset his password and got an email saying his account was locked from too many failed attempts to login, but he didn't make any attempts he only tried to reset his password. We filled out the contact form to get some help unlocking his account but have yet to hear anything.

The reason this is a problem is because we aren't sure how else to make an appointment at our local office. Eventually he will need a green card extension stamp in his passport since his GC extension letter is set to expire in April. We are just trying to get this sorted now so that we don't have to deal with it next year. It's been over a year since we applied for ROC, and it doesn't seem likely he will get his new GC before the extension letter expires. I hope this makes sense. Thanks!

Have you thought to refinance the student loans?

    https://studentaid.gov/h/manage-loans

Yes, I have looked into it extensively but have been denied from every place, including through the government's own refinancing program.

    40 minutes ago, Luckycuds said:

No it will not impact immigration. However your plan may not work I suggest you look into see if your loans looks at your household income or individual income.

It is based on my tax return which I submit every year in order to find out how much I will have to pay. I have to re-certify my income every year.

  9. Hi everyone! My husband and I have filed taxes jointly since he moved here. It's not been a problem at all, except now he makes a lot more money than I do which makes my student loan payments skyrocket. The loan company thinks I have a lot more money to put towards loans than I really do. So I am just wondering if we do married filing separately, will that have a negative impact on anything? We are over a year into waiting for the ROC on his green card, so we won't need to file anything else for a while once that gets approved. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks!

i totally get you! there was a spate of approvals coming out of texas from the feb and mar 2020(!) groups i think. i did learn though that last year, potomac was the fastest, they were approving cases in 6 months. i know somebody who got approved in that time frame there, they filed in june 2019 got approved jan 2020. so i guess it's just the luck of the draw and how the load (and now with covid, location) is at your service center. it's like the wheel, one day, one center is up, the next day, that same center is down.

Oh totally. We are just worried because we are finally having our wedding celebration that we couldn't afford before in England next June, and on top of COVID worries, my husbands extension letter expires in April. I know they aren't issuing the stamps right now, so we are slightly concerned.

  11. 3 minutes ago, doggieandsam said:

Hey, i understand where you are coming from. But one thing I want to share with you is that, just because you sent your packet to Texas, that you'll get Texas as your service center. The place you sent to in Texas is just a lockbox, where they receive, scan, sort and then send off your application on to the service center it needs to go to. Some people go to NBC in Nebraska if they will (most probably) need to be interviewed, others go to California, or even the actual service center in Texas. USCIS assigns cases to service centers based on the balancing work load of the service centers is what I read.

Oh yeah I totally get that. I'm just annoyed because there seems to be no rhyme or reason about who gets approved when. I thought it was supposed to be first in first out, but it's just frustrating for me (and for all of us) when people who applied after get approved before others.

I'm sorry the process is so slow. The DC area, including Arlington where Potomac Center is, has been slow down because of covid. Things are coming back to normal but I'm not even sure if things are back to normal at 100% at USCIS (like some agencies only allow around  30% of their workers at the same time in the office or are still fully teleworking).

Yeah, everything is kind of in turmoil right now for sure.

  12. Hi everyone! How are we all doing? Has anyone had any updates? We had biometrics in November and nothing since then. My husband's extension letter expires in April of 2021, does anyone know how we go about getting another one? We are traveling to England to finally celebrate our wedding in June (COVID permitting, that's a whole other worry) and we are concerned that he won't be able to travel. Tough times for everyone. Thanks!

I think you mean removal of conditions.

In such case, when the extension letter expires, you can schedule an appointment at your local USCIS office to get an I-551 stamp that serves as a GC for one year.

Yes I do, sorry it's been a long day. Do you know how far head of time we have to do that, or do we have to wait until the letter expries?

What AOS extension letter?  No such thing.

I meant removal of conditions. Sorry, it's been a long day and got my terms mixed up.

  14. Hi everyone, I hope you all are hanging in there during these stressful times.

Mu husband applied for AOS in July of last year. In November he got his finger prints, and we got the 18 month extension letter as well. 18 months from the day his green card expires in April of 2021. In June of 2021 we are going back over to England to finally have our wedding celebration, since we never got to have a party. My question is, assuming he won't have his green card by then, do they automatically send another extension letter? Or do we have to make an appointment and ask for one? Not only will he need it to travel for our party and (finally) our honeymoon, but he also needs it in order to still work in the US. We are not sure what to do, and things have now been pushed further behind because of the pandemic. Thanks!

Weird - is that how much your card was charged as well?

As @Wuozopo mentioned, it does state no action is required. I’m assuming they didn’t send the whole package back...

Yeah it was charged that amount, and all we got back was a picture of the outside of the priority mail envelope that we sent to USCIS that had our packet inside. Nothing was returned to us. Not sure where we went wrong.

  16. 2 minutes ago, CJKylie said:

Sounds like you’re being refunded just the overpayment. How much did you write on the G-1450?

$680. It says $595 for the fee and then $85 for biometrics, which is $680. So I don't know what we did wrong.

    Hello,

it seems you might have payed the wrong amount

it should = $595 plus 85 for bio

We paid $680. It says $595 for the fee and then $85 for biometrics, which is $680. So I don't know what we did wrong. Does this mean the whole application is rejected?

  17. Hi everyone. We received our first NOA last week, dated 8/7 that USCIS has our packet. Great news. Then today we get a letter in big envelope that says rejection letter. It says:

"Recently you submitted an application for immigration benefits. That form was submitted with an extra remittance that is not required to process your application. Your payment is being returned to you with this notice. No additional action by you is required at this time."

We paid by credit card form, and I believe we paid the right amount. What does this mean? Are we being refunded or do we need to resubmit completely? Case online still says received so I am not sure what this means.

I would call the USCIS to see what they recommend. Maybe they have already received it and can give you a case number?? You don't want to wait too long so they don't get it after the conditional GC expires. You can also reach out to USPS/ FEDEX/UPS to see if they can figure out where it is. I always recommend doing return receipt so even if it doesn't update online for any reason but it was delivered you will get the returned receipt back.

We have the tracking number from USPS, and I know it was delivered last Thursday. So it seems to have gotten there. We also did the CC form and the money has not been taken out yet so we know they have not looked at it. Not sure what to do at this point.

I'll give it a few more days but I'm already preparing a new packet just in case. And then it'll get either send via FedEx or UPS.

Can we send other packet if we don't know if it arrived? I don't know what happens if they end up getting both.

Hello to all. We have mailed our packet on 7/22 and was delivered 7/24. Now waiting on receipt notification. I filled out CC form to pay for our fees. do you know if that is faster for NOA or delays? or maybe no impact on time line?

    Rehashif

We did the CC form too. Our packet was delivered 7 days ago and no receipt so far. Other people I know who did the cc form said it did not impact the timeline.
