Did you submits a service request? They told me I would hear something by September 9th ands didn't get a response until the 15th.

Not sure if that's what it's called but they did process a request for something, I think it was just a follow-up, as I was given a confirmation # for the request... They told me I'll hear from USCIS within 30 days which seems like a ridiculous amount of time but it seems everything takes a long time for USCIS so I didn't really question it...

I agree. My wife and I don't really care about her green card as we know it'll take the longest to get but it's more her EAD so she can work and help out with her family and also our lives here.

Same! Also, at least USCIS sent you an email update. I didn't even get any update since calling to follow up. :( I keep checking my mailbox everyday hoping to find something from USCIS, but alas, nothing yet thus far. Good luck to us all, and hopefully we get our EADs soon.

Yes we did file for the EAD/AP combo card but haven't received those yet. Still doing the waiting game.

Yeah, haven't received either of the cards either. So frustrating. I've been wanting to work for months now, to help my husband out with bills! I can't even drive since I don't have a driver's license, which I can only get once I get an EAD... it really sucksssss

During the K1 Visa process for Canada, once our status showed as "Ready" - we were able to schedule my fiance's interview without having the actual hard-copy paperwork instructions on scheduling her K1 Visa interview.  We had her interview scheduled, yet, received the hard-copy instructions in the mail 2 weeks later - and we had no issues.

Can scheduling the interview also be done during the AOS process without the actual hard-copy paperwork instructions in the mail if your status shows "Ready"?  Or, is one only able to schedule an interview with the hard-copy paperwork?

You don't schedule the interview yourself for AOS, USCIS is the one who decides when you will be interviewed. At least that's how I understand it. Also, not everyone is required to undergo the interview, so you might not even have one. Again, it all depends on what USCIS tells you to do. So really, it's just all waiting for word from USCIS from here on out! Nothing we can do :(

Hey @minemar and @snowcat  - sorry to semi-hijack this thread.  But how long did it take to have your AOS case ready to be schedule for interview from the day you had your biometrics taken.  My wife's biometrics were taken yesterday, Sept 19th.  Thanks and good luck guys going forward!

I didn't check my case status right away, so I'm not sure exactly when it changed... But I did file my packet May 15, and checked USCIS around June 27/28 (when I posted this) to find that I was "ready for interview" :) Could have changed much sooner, I just didn't know. Eitherway, as I've learned thus far, it kinda doesn't matter when it changes to "ready for interview" cause it's now been 3 months since I checked and 4 months since I filed my packet and still no update!!! :(

    Hi.

I'm curious. Did you end up having an interview?  How long it took to receive your interview notice by mail?

My case updated last night and I'm moving out soon and I don't wanna miss the paper in the mail.

Hi! No word from USCIS yet, so not sure if I'll have to do the interview or not. Still no EAD or AP yet either. Getting anxious as I do want to work already! But I guess there's not much to do but wait...

Filed on May 30th, didn't hear from EAD nor AP, it just said received the entire time but got my interview notice for the AOS scheduled the 30th of last month, was approved and now waiting for the GC in the mail. (hopefully it won't take a long time) We didn't really follow up on any of the filed papers and was just lucky to get an interview date within the time period (3 mos). More concerned about CGFNS, they are taking such a long time even just to acknowledge that they received the required documents! Hope you will will get your EAD and AP soon, and GC too. good luck!

Filed my wife's AOS May 26th, on June 29th the case status changed to case is ready to be scheduled. EAD and AP still show case is received. Filed a case inquiry August 28th just received response that said case is stil being reviewed. Way to approved it within 90 days. Hope to get it soon my wife is feeling restless not being able to work. Hope everyone has a smooth journey while are wait on the slowvernment.  Eh I mean government.

Thanks for sharing! Glad to hear from others in the same boat as me. Please do update us if/when you receive your cards. I still haven't heard anything from USCIS since calling, but it may be too early to expect any update, as we know everything moves slowly in the government ;) I didn't get any notification about an interview date... hoping we don't need to do it, as I hear some people have it waived. But we'll see. Best of luck to all of us... hopefully we get our cards soon!!!

Where does it say 90 day processing for EADs? I think you are just now reaching the EAD processing time.  It appears that EAD applications filed in mid May are just now being processed.

That's just the estimated processing time for EADs, which even the USCIS agent I talked to on the phone said is usually the wait time. She also said that EAD applications submitted mid-May should have been processed already (thus the reason she requested for follow up), but APs not yet - as my post states. Also, I got this estimate from my own Timeline here on VisaJourney, which is updated using information from other filers - my timeline says my EAD should be adjudicated anytime from Sep 1-8, and my AP from Sep 1-10. Of course, I understand that I won't necessarily be receiving my cards by then, and there are going to be delays, but it never hurts to call and check what's going on. I'm glad I did, and just wanted to share the information I received, for peace of mind. :)

I also have a friend who filed for her EAD/AP last year, didn't receive it within 90 days, and followed up, and ended up getting her green card earlier - not sure if it's because she followed up or not, but again, doesn't hurt to call! :)

  9. Hi everyone,

I filed my AOS/EAD/AP packet last May 15, 2017 and have just called the USCIS to follow-up as the 90-day processing time has passed and I still haven't gotten my EAD or AP (or any RFEs or updates) in the mail. Just wanted to share this information for those who filed around the same time as me, who are also wondering where their EAD/AP cards are. ;)

AOS (green card): As of today (Sep 7, 2017) the USCIS is still processing applications from September 2016. So this will take a while longer - as expected.

EAD: This should be ready by now, since they do have that 90-day processing time, as mentioned. The nice lady on the phone processed a request for follow up for me (to see what is going on with the case and if there are any problems/issues I should know of), and she said I should be hearing back from USCIS about the status of my case within 30 days. If I don't hear back, I should call again. I suggest you call USCIS to follow up, at least on your EAD, soon.

AP: As of today (Sep 7, 2017), they are still processing applications from April 2017, so this is also still within the normal processing time, which is just a bit slow this time of the year, I guess. I just would need to wait 1-2 months more, and then follow up again.

That's all! Hope we all get our EAD/APs soon. All this waiting since filing for K-1 is truly nerve wracking, but we're at least getting somewhere! :)

To those lucky ones who have already received their EAD/AP cards in the mail and also filed in May 2017, please post when you got yours in this thread! Curious to know!

P.S. The number to call is 1-800-375-5283. Just go through the menu options, choose the "if you have already filed an application..." option, and "case status", then I just pressed for "if there are any problems with your case or you would like to update anything in your application, press ___ to talk to a customer representative". Basically the goal is to just keep going through the menu options until you hear an option to talk to a real person haha. Then the real person can help you follow up. ;)

P.P.S. It is suggested that you take note of the person's name you talk to on the phone and their ID # (they voluntarily give this info out once they pick up the phone, and you can always ask for it again before you hang up), for your records. And also take note of any confirmation # they give for any follow up requests!

  10. Wanted to know if there is anything I should watch out for (email notifications, my USCIS case status being updated, etc.) to know if my EAD/AP has been approved before getting it in the mail? Or do I just keep checking my mailbox for it? I should be getting it any day now according to my timeline estimates, but am out of town visiting my husband's family in another state, so was wondering if there was a way to check online if I've been approved or not... Or if I should just wait til I get back home and check my mailbox to see if I've gotten my cards yet??

just wanted to asked that i had my vaccination at slec in philipines july11,2017 and it shows that the expiration date in the slec med exam result validity is until sept30, 2017 do we need to get married before the expiration of the med exam? coz where planning to get married on sept or october

If I'm not mistaken, it is valid 1 year after your medical exam at SLEC... So it should be valid until July 11, 2018.

Have you had any response lately for your case? I got that email 5 days after you. And I haven't heard anything yet.

Nothing yet so far. I didn't even get this as an email; I had to go onto the USCIS website to check on the status of my case. So really, I haven't heard from the USCIS since getting the letter for my biometrics appointment ~2 months ago.

  13. I'm doing AOS from K1 visa. Sent AOS packet (with EAD and AP) last month. Just checked my Case Status recently and found this:

    Quote

Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview

As of June 15, 2017, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSCxxx, for an interview. We will schedule your interview and send you a notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

I've heard from many that interviews don't always happen, and many just get their green card in their mail. When one gets this update, does it really mean an interview is going to happen, or not necessarily? Just curious.

  14. Thanks for the advice, everyone! Will go to my bank today and have my forms notarized. Glad I asked here first before agreeing to pay the ludicrous amount of $75 to UPS!

    12 hours ago, Hank_ said:

Ya UPS or any of those are nuts with their fees.   Like said by others simply take everything to your bank or insurance agent, most will do this service for free.

There is NO reason to complete ROM in person, doing everything by mail is simple.

You only need 4 original forms, not 5, and yes they all need to be notarized.

    http://www.philippineconsulatela.org/consular-services-2/civil-registry-2/report-of-marriage-of-a-filipino-abroad

Thanks Hank! I'm actually in SF, and according to the instructions from the SF Consulate, I need to submit 5 forms (and 5 copies of everything, basically): http://philippinessanfrancisco.org/uploads/Consular/SF/ROM.pdf

  15. Do I need to have all 5 Report of Marriage forms notarized if I'm sending by mail? If so, where can I have these notarized for a reasonable fee? I tried doing this at UPS and it's $15 per form! I think $75 for notarizing documents is a bit much.

My husband unfortunately won't be able to come with me to the Philippine Consulate in person if ever, as he has a full time job, so I have no choice but to send by mail.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

  16. So I know that being employed right now is out of the question, but does helping my husband start a business count as employment? I asked my friend's dad (who is an immigration attorney) if I can put my name on my husband's LLC, and he said it's not a problem since you don't have to be a US Citizen to own a business. I still haven't done it because I don't want to get in trouble with the USCIS, but at the same time, it will be of great help to my husband if I can take care of some things for this budding business while he goes to work full time to support us both financially. The business is at its starting stages so we don't expect to earn money from it anytime soon (so it won't be a source of income), but at least getting things moving would be great, especially now that I have a lot of time. I have been trying to help out in ways in which I don't need to "officially" file papers with my name on it (for fear of being penalized by USCIS), but there are some things now that we need to do, which I can't personally do since I don't officially own the business and my husband currently has no time for since he needs to work to be able to support the 2 of us. I don't need to give my SSN out for any of the paperwork, so I'm wondering if this will affect my immigration process or if USCIS will have a way to find out at all?

I know the consequences of doing any kind of work without EAD is bad and may lead to my deportation and all that, so no need to berate/scare me. I've just been getting mixed information on what I can or cannot do, especially since this immigration attorney told me it wouldn't be a problem. This is also why I'm asking and doing tons of research first before I make any move... I'm definitely scared and would not want to jeopardize my immigration process!

  17. Thanks all! I'm not in a rush, so I think I will just wait until I get my EAD to change my name on my SSN card and wait for my GC to renew my passport. If I decide to go back to the Philippines before I get my GC (which I think would be unlikely anyway), I'll just bring my marriage certificate.

I'm pretty clear on what I need to do now. Thanks again for all your advice. :)
