Getting kind of worried. Applied at California. My case status has been stuck on "Recieved" for months. I have gotten my extension notice and biometrics (performed around June) in the mail but nothing is updated online.

Has anyone from the California centers gotten anything yet?

How are you checking the status online?

We made an account at  myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov      The status there still shows the receipt number and "We received your case".  It's never updated a single time since they received our i-751 last year.   This system seems to never update.

If we look at https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus and enter the receipt number it shows "Card was delivered"

So we sent our paperwork for removal of conditions mid January and we still haven't received any notification that they got our paperwork. They cashed our check but we don't have anything showing that we sent the papers in.

So what now? If it expires how can she work? She's trying to get paid interships while in grad school that are very important to a future career and this could really be an issue. Any tips?

    Thanks!

I called USCIS this morning concerning my wife's removal of conditions letter.  We sent ours in at the end of December and have not received the letter yet either and her GC expires in mid march.  The person on the phone said they are really backed up and haven't mailed the letter out yet and didn't really give me a great answer as to when they would except that she filed a request and we should get a reply to the request by March 6th.

I have not received the NOA1 and the extension letter. Green card is expiring at the end of March. Submitted inquiry forms online but never heard from them. This is so frustrating.

My wife's expires mid march.  I called today to the USCIS line.  I called right at 8am est when they opened and still had to wait 30 minutes or so to talk to someone after getting through the 6 levels of menus to get to the option of talking to someone.   We sent her i751 in at the end of December and the check was cashed the first week of January.   The person I talked to on the phone said they have not mailed out the NOA letter yet.  They are really backed up.   She said we should get a response to our request to get it by March 6th.  I'm not sure what was meant by "response".   She then said if we had travel plans in the next few months out of the country to call and get an appointment to get a stamp.  She said the letter will eventually arrive.   She said that you can check status at myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov and print your letter if it's been processed but not mailed.  That system has been down since this morning so I haven't been able to make a login to find out.   If you call the USCIS number, the one applying has to be on the phone.   They won't help you if you call for your spouse and she's not available to answer questions.

  4. I met my wife on OKCupid also.   For that form we put "See attached sheet (I-129F: Supplement Part 2, Question 34.A)" in spot 34.a where it asks for the circumstances under which you met.  Then for the attachment we wrote "I, (my name) do hereby state that I met in person (her name), in person. We met on 3 occasions.  Our first meeting was December 23, 2014 through January 5, 2015 while I was visiting my parents in (somewhere USA).  The second occasion was in (somewhere USA) from February 12, 2015 through February 24, 2015.  The third occasion was in (somewhere USA) from June 4, 2015 through September 2, 2015. "    We never mentioned anything about first meeting on OKCupid in the i129 form or supporting documents.  We didn't get an RFE anywhere in the process.

  5. Typically you don't need SSN for a marriage license.  There may be a space for it in on the application but it's not required.  You should call whatever your local place is that issues marriage licenses and find this out for sure.

You can apply for SSN number as soon as you arrive here.  It took us close to 6 weeks to get the card in the mail after applying.   We applied for it a week after we arrived.  We got married 2 days after she arrived in the us so a few days before applying for the SSN.

thank, but can u answer my second qstion also ? please

and do u have experience on ur interview ? like what qstion etc....

For us the interview was very quick.  At most 10 minutes.  The questions were the standard Yes/No questions they ask everyone and then just a few questions to confirm what we filled out on the AOS form was correct.  Spelling of name and birthdate.   The only other thing was one missing test from the medical we had to go have done following the interview to get approved.  The doctor who did it I. Taiwan missed a new requirement so didn't give her one required test.   It was really a non event for the most part.  We got the test done the day of the interview, sent results back in and got an approved notification a few days later.

  7. I don't know which specific blood test you are being asked for.  For our AOS interview that was a month and a half ago, we were told at the interview we had to get an additional test that was added to the requirements but was not done by the civil surgeon that did my wife's medical exam in Taiwan.  There was a new requirement that many doctors conducting the medical examination ignored.  The officer conducting our interview said that about 80% of people coming in for the AOS interview were missing it.  We had to find a local civil surgeon who would do just that test and mail the results to the USCIS office before they could approve and mail my wife's greencard.

  8. It's not required to attend the interview or visit.  You just have to have proof that you met in person at least once in the last 2 years for K1.

My fiance was from Taiwan.  She visited and met me in the US 3 times prior to our filing for a K1.  The last visit was from June through August.  We filed for K1 in April the following year and her interview was in September.  It was over a year from our last time seeing each other when her interview at the embassy occurred.  I still have never been to Taiwan and we are passed AOS now.

  9. Your list already seems good.  It's already a lot more than we took.   We've known each other for 2 years prior to getting married and met in person 3 times prior to that.  I had the following:

joint bank account statement for 1 checking and 1 savings account

beneficiary statement from work for my health insurance showing her on it.

beneficiary statement from my 401k and pension showing her on it.

jointly filed tax returns for tax year 2016.

Beyond this we had about 20 photos showing us together at different things we did in the period from our marriage at the start of October until our AOS interview in March.  We had 1 or 2 photos from each event mostly with us together with friends or families.  We included 2 or 3 from the wedding we had.  My thoughts are to show the relationship was bonafide it was better to show 1 or 2 pictures from several things rather then a bunch from a single event.

Our AOS interview lasted maybe 10 minutes.  The officer very briefly looked at the photos and at most did a quick scan of any papers I handed her.  She just asked if I had anything I wanted to show for our relationship.  Most of the time was spent asking the standard I-485 questions (yes/no are you a terrorist questions straight off the form) and making sure everything was correct on the I-485 form (name, birthdate, etc..) so that greencard would be correct and then an RFE at the interview because her medical exam was missing one test that was added last summer as a requirement but that most civil surgeons were missing (she said 80% of recent interviews were missing this) so we had to run to a doctor and get it done.  We got the test done that day, mailed back the next day and had the approval notice on USCIS within a few days of them receiving the result.  The interview was really a not big deal and the officer was really nice and pleasant with us.

  10. I think you can submit AP any time.  The instructions for the I-131 form state the following:

"NOTE: If you filed Form I-485 on or after July 30, 2007, and you paid the Form I-485 application fee required,
then no fee is required to file a request for an Advance Parole Document or Refugee Travel Document on Form
I-131 if your Form I-485 is still pending, if:

    1. You now hold U.S. refugee or asylee status, and are applying for a Refugee Travel Document (see Part 2. Application
Type, Item Number 1.b. of Form I-131); or

    2. You are applying for an Advance Parole Document to allow you to return to the United States after temporary foreign
travel (see Part 2. Application Type, Item Number 1.b. of Form I-131).

Under these circumstances, you may file Form I-131 together with your Form I-485, or you may submit Form I-131
at a later date. If you file Form I-131 separately, you must also submit a copy of your Form I-797, Notice of Action,
receipt as evidence that you filed and paid the fee for Form I-485 required on or after July 30, 2007."

  11. I think this is kind of normal for many of the embassies.  My wife was from Taiwan.  The same thing.  She followed the process until she hit schedule and interview and there was no spots available.  It took a couple weeks before any opened up.  I had wrote several complaint notes to the embassy asking how this system could be so horrible that they can't just have months worth of interview slots available instead of only a few at a time.  This is maybe the most frustrating part of the whole K1 process and seems totally rediculous that the embassies can't have a better system for scheduling interviews that goes out many months.   Hotels and any other modern scheduling systems can go years out.  After complaining someone at the embassy did send us a note to give us a heads up that slots were opening right before they did. It seems like you just have to keep checking several times a day and hoping to get one when new slots become available.  It's a really lousy system.

  12. Just go to "Immigration Timelines" at the top and then click on "AOS Timeslines" which is towards the bottom left of the next page.

    http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aoslist.php?cfl=&op5=5,6,8,9,10,11

You can also click on the AOS Stats link where it will tell you the average days to NOA and other things for each office.

    http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aosstats.php?cfl=

These will help with your sanity when you start wondering after it's been months since the last update to your status in USCIS and your wondering if yours is lost.

  13. It takes much longer for the AOS NOA to come then it does for the K1 NOA.  Ours took 18 days from when we mailed it until we got the NOA text message.  It was only 6 days for the K1 submission.   You can look in the timelines section here to see relative times for how long it takes between sending and NOA and then NOA to biometrics and interviews for the office you sent too.
