The rooms are limited to 2 persons due to covid. So we were in the same room, my chair was against the door wall and the officer was at his desk behind a glass window. I recommend bringing your own pen and some hand sanitizer. I can bet that the tablet pen is not cleaned after each use.

My passeport application took a total of 25 days (they told me 10-12 weeks to process).

    Hi everyone!
i had my interview last Tuesday 2/16 in downtown LA. My appointment was at 8:30 AM. Once I got in the building, had to find the elevator, go up to the right floor & the right room. I then showed my appointment letter to the officer who directed me to the check-in window where I had to give the 1st page of the appointment letter and had my temperature checked. I then took a seat for about 1 hour wait. Then I was called in.

The interview lasted about 1 hour. We chatted a lot about a lot of things in between the real interview stuff (travel, family, the pandemic, etc.). It was really cool and no stress.

For the real interview stuff, first he asked for my green card, driver license and passeport. Then asked for my mariage certificate (original + copy) - I am applying under 3 years, my husband’s birth certificate and any additional documents I want to provide (last statements for checking, saving accounts, credit card bill, mortgage, utilities, insurance, any documents that have both my husband and my name on it).

he also asked a few questions on my prior travels, destinations and what we did.

moved on to the name change portion. Signed a few paper and signed on the tablet as well.

Then we moved on to the Civic test:
    1. What was one reason that led to civil war (slavery)
    2. Why did people come to the united states (for freedom)
    3. What are the first three words of the constitution (we the people)
    4. What do the 13 stripes on the flag represent (the 13 original colonies)
    5. Give 3 of the 13 original colonies
    6. What did the US fear during the cold war (Communism)

question to read from a tablet: “what do we pay to the government”

writing test with a special pen on the tablet: “we pay taxes”

    => I passed the test!!!!

next I had to answer a bunch of question s (yes/no) like the ones from the application (have you been arrested, do drugs, etc.)

I wasn’t approved on the spot, but it changed not long after on the myuscis account, then I was placed in line for the oath ceremony. Just received the appointments letter in my email inbox (so unexpected!!), it’s also uploaded in my account. I’ll be done with all this on Saturday 2/27.

good luck to everyone that are still waiting!

    Good Evening LA filers,

I had my Oath Ceremony yesterday in DTLA. It is held outside in the courtyard behind the building. It is quick and I guess other people can come with you because it is open to the public. There are 2 desks:
    - one to check you in, punch a hole in the green card, staple it with your appointment letter and give you an envelop (with inside: the little flag, what to do next and a passport application), you are then directed to stand in front of an officer who will read the pledge of allegiance in front of a small group, and once done, you go into another line to go to the second desk.
    - the second desk is where you give your punched green card and you are remitted the certificate of naturalization.

there are flags in the courtyard where you can take pictures with your love ones if you want.

Good luck to all the applicants still waiting for this moment. I wish you all the best 🇺🇸

Hello friends! I know many of you filed in California/LA and haven’t seen movements but I am here to tell you the light at the end of the tunnel is coming!
I mail filed end of Jan 2020 and my I751 was still under review. I had my biometrics taken early Feb 2020. A few weeks after bio, my I751 has been approved and I received my new GC.
Haven’t heard anything since, until this morning! My interview has been scheduled! I don’t see any letter on myuscis account yet and haven’t received any letter in the mail yet either. Time to start studying those 100 questions!

Hey guys, I just received the EAD card yesterday (Saturday 23rd) morning. It marks 93 days since they received the application. I'm a late April filer, so I hope almost everyone gets their card before the end of this month. If you applied for AP as well, it will be stated on the EAD card.
I just want to share a tip that worked for me. I read it somewhere in the forum, but I don't remember who posted it. When the online status changed to "Mailed", there was no tracking number provided. Someone suggested to create an account at the USPS website and use the My USPS feature. After you provide your address and everything, it will list and even notify you for any packages that are being mailed to you.
    Good luck everyone!

It's a gray area, some would tell you that you can, and some will tell you that you can not. I don't mean to scare you, but i've read somewhere that if you break the law, you can be deported. But again, it's the worst thing. And I still believe that they do not have the resource (time & staff) to enforce that. So really, it's about what kind of risk/chance you want to take.
All I know is that you don't mess up with the rules in the US. Everything is on record. My friend once failed to give the "tourist card" on 2008 when he came to visit New York City. On 2010, I was travelling with him thru one of the Vermont POE, he has been held for 3 entire hours for further enquiry. Last March, he came for vacation and again, he has been held in the immigration office for 2:30 hours. All this for just a piece of paper he forgot to give back on 2008… They never forget so i just sticked to the strict and literal definition of things as you need to ask for a work permit in order to work. Period.
I've spoken with a couple of K-1 immigrants. Several of them did actually work for the foreign company and got paid just like before they immigrated and everything went well for them. But their case were slightly different from yours that is their wife/sponsor had a sufficient income so they didn't have to deal with your kind of burden.
You can indeed pay a lawyer. I did talk with 4 different lawyers. 2 said it was ok. 1 said it's not. 1 say that I can hire him for a deeper study for $500.
If you can afford a co-sponsor, I'd advise you to add the co-sponsor right away to meet the minimum required. What you want is to avoid the straight denial of the AOS. As long as your case is open, they'd just send you Request(s) For Evidence (RFE). If you follow what I was saying earlier, by the time they review your case for AOS, you already had the EAD and started to work and will be able to add your paystubs to the futur potential RFE(s). This is just my opinion and how i would do it. If you can afford to consult a lawyer for that, it's still cheaper than having your case denied right away...
As for me, my husband has a decent income, we have some savings so I did not have your issue. But I read a lot about it because I was afraid that we wouldn't meet the requirement. And most of the people with low income added a co-sponsor and all say that it doesn't hurt to add a separate letter to explain your situation in order to ease the IO to process your case. Keep in mind that they have a LOT of cases to process in a short amount of time, so anything that can help them to understand your situation is welcome.
Finally, to be honest, I don't care much about the AOS and greencard. My goal after getting married is file for AOS + EAD + AP as fast as possible so my case would move forward and they'd print my EAD/AP card asap so I can start working because one month without working cost me a lot of money. I added the job offer, explained how long i've been employed in the French company and what I do + added a letter from the CEO of the US company that says how important my work is and why they can't hire someone to replace me. All this hopefully to speed up the process. But I think that can't be faster than what it is regarding the huge amount of cases being processed (on average 80 days).
Good luck with everything. I hope things work out for you.
