    The OP should have already submitted income evidence when she submitted her own I-864.

    If the joint sponsor isn't qualified, the Consulate Officer isn't going to approve the I-864.

    May be a consulate specific thing. However, I fail to see the need for a wet signature. Makes zero sense to me.

    I'm not sure why a Consulate Officer would need a wet signature on an I-864. For other civil documents such as Birth Certificates and marriage documents, originals are required.

    Other than explaining that you are in "authorized stay" during adjustment of status, showing your passport and showing the receipt for the I-485 are all you can do.

    If she cannot qualify, do NOT ask her to submit an I-864. That would be useless since a joint sponsor must be fully qualified. Seek a well-qualified Joint sponsor.

    Primary residence cannot be used as assets. The Consulate Officer evaluates the totality of the financial circumstances. As such, the consulate officer has the discretion to ask for a JOINT sponsor. Joint sponsors must submit an I-864. I would find a well-qualified one. That would be the path of least resistance.

    USCIS does background checks as does the Department of State at the appropriate times. For immigration purposes, there is no erasing a record.
