How could anyone who filled out all the forms for AOS be surprised about this. It clearly stated that if you use ANY government assistance it may disqualify you for citizenship, so why not green card. We don't need to import more people to suck off the other tax payers generosity.

Mine said "ready to schedule interview" over 3 months ago! This is BS. And some people want the Gov running health care OMG!

Little immigrant you were spot on buddy! Sent it as you directed and all in line!
-
Thank you "little imigrant"!
don't know why the knob that sent the packet back couldn't tell me that!

I have the same questions!
I sent in a packet for renewal to the Lees Summit address with new photos, I-765 & 131, copy of SS card, copy of EA And AP card.
Got a letter and the packet back 6 WEEKS LATER, saying they do not process it there (funny, thats where I sent original). Did not tell me where to send it, only referred to web site where I didn't see any info for sending in the 1st place.
Now I read I need to send fee in again!
Is this true?
Where do I send the info packet to?
Thx

No hurricanes in Arizona and they say 14-22 months here!!
So if it takes 14-22 months for normally a 3 month process can we expect that the 3 year process of citizenship will take 14-22 years?!!!
Back in January I called USCIS info line and was directed to an automated system. I went through the procedures and selected more info for "outside normal processing times". On June 6 (more than 6 months later) we got an automated email response that said "Due to work load factors not related to your case, USCIS anticipates a delay in completing your case....." LOL No chit!
This is what happens when there is no accountability, no one can get fired and all is done in secrecy!
I have asked my Congressman why this is happening and am waiting for answers and let you know if I get any. I'm not holding my breath.
As an American citizen I find this unacceptable!

I don't KNOWINGLY spread "Fake News"....I was merely repeating what my congressman's aid told me. This was in another conversation that does not pertain to OP subject.
Don't shoot the messenger!!!!
And your very correct that most people on here do not know their own immigration law.

Use your EAD/AP along with your passport to get back into the US. No need to show it to anyone on the way out. You'll probably enter secondary inspection which might take an hour or two - the main purpose is to make sure it is not fake, is still valid, you don't have a disqualifying criminal conviction, and otherwise are admissable. Remember, only US Citizens are guaranteed entry to the US but if you don't pose a national security risk you will be fine.
US citizens are NOT guaranteed entry to the US

My wife and I got married and filed our I-485, 131 & 765 back in Aug 2017. She was given notice and did appear at the local immigration office for finger prints. We then received a request for a I-864 which we sent in a few weeks back. When I log onto the USCIS web site the last thing I see they posted was activity from a year ago prior to K1 visa. Why would it take a year to make any updates? Is there another site I should be looking on?
Thx
-
Is it common for DHS to request a I-864 after ALL the other forms have been submitted, not to mention the I-134 submitted to get the K1 visa? This was never mentioned when completing the I-485, I-765 & I-131
And they asked for the birth cert that we already sent in which they must have lost!
Thx

Thx, just sent it back with $1225

Just got my wifes I-485 packet returned. Said payment amount is incorect or not been provided. I sent a personal check for $1,140 with the I-485, I-765 & I-131. I was understood that if all were submitted together only the fee for the I-485 was needed and the other fees would be waived.
Am I missing something here?
-
The example form I-485 is out dated. I wish it were still that easy, the new form is 18 pages!

Here is what the site says. Not sure how many times it needs to say FREE!
Hope they can figure it out.

I think I must be the only one for June still waiting for NOA2. They received June 17 and have been sending it from Calf. center to local office and now back to Calf.
-
Sorry, it was sent "Local Office"
-
I sent the original K1 application back in June, it was sent to California processing center until July when they sent to "My Home Office" where it sat for another 2 months and I received notice it was sent back to California for "faster processing". Anyone else experiencing this?
Thx

So it appears that the local office can take upto 6 months. I called DHS and could not give me anymore details, she did say that average wait time for fiancee visa was 5 months. This is much longer than the time lines show here.

I was looking to see what was taking my case so long since I have not heard back from feds for 2 months. I got my I-797 back in early June saying it was in the USCIS California office. I went on line and put in the case # and it said it was received in a "Local Office" July 10.
What does this mean?
Where is this local office?
Can I contact and find out why it is here?
Thx

I am now in the process of getting my K1 app together. My fiancee is in Thailand and there is an American firm in Bangkok that can handle it. I spoke to another attorney in California who said he had them handle his K1 for his wife. The name of the firm is White & Weber. http://www.usfamilyvisa.com
I'm sure this topic has been discussed sometime, I'm just unable to find it.
Thoughts?

Yes, and a visitor cannot accept admission to a school because there are financial requirements to be met before an international student can enroll in school in the USA and often times, some ppl try to use visitor's visa as a decoy to skip that requirement.
So in essence, everything had some shade of suspicion that's why the CBP officer made the call. Not many ppl get that phone call.
When I spoke to the ESL schools in town all were open to take her. These are private schools and do this all the time, all they want is their $360 a month.

Her being turned back will not affect the K-1 process in the future other than having to disclose it.
However, the length of time since you last saw her will affect the K-1 process since it is a requirement that you be together at some point during the 2 years previous to filing the K-1 petition (I-129F). Since she got turned back, I am assuming that the previous trips were less than 2 years ago so you should be OK there. If not, or you don't file right away, it could become an issue and you'd have to travel to see her given that it is unlikely that she will be allowed entry again on a B2.
Just spent 3 weeks there with her in February.
Applying for naturalization after 3 years of marraige
in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Posted
1st, sorry if this was discussed here and I couldn't find it.
We have been married since 8/5/17 and my wife got her 2 year green card on 4/9/19. Our 3 year anniversary is just around the corner and I read on here that you could apply for citizenship if married for 3 years (see below)
"Spouses of U.S. Citizens
Generally, certain lawful permanent residents married to a U.S. citizen may file for naturalization after residing continuously in the United States for three years if immediately preceding the filing of the application:
the applicant has been married to and living in a valid marital union with the same U.S. citizen spouse for all three years;
the U.S. spouse has been a citizen for all three years and meets all physical presence and residence requirements; and
the applicant meets all other naturalization requirements."
I also heard conflicting info that you could not file the N400 until 3 years after original Green Card date which would put us out another 2 years.
Could someone please advise?
Thank you so much!
