  1. 1st, sorry if this was discussed here and I couldn't find it.

We have been married since 8/5/17 and my wife got her 2 year green card on 4/9/19. Our 3 year anniversary is just around the corner and I read on here that you could apply for citizenship if married for 3 years (see below)

    "Spouses of U.S. Citizens

Generally, certain lawful permanent residents married to a U.S. citizen may file for naturalization after residing continuously in the United States for three years if immediately preceding the filing of the application:

         ball.gif the applicant has been married to and living in a valid marital union with the same U.S. citizen spouse for all three years;
ball.gif the U.S. spouse has been a citizen for all three years and meets all physical presence and residence requirements; and
ball.gif the applicant meets all other naturalization requirements."

I also heard conflicting info that you could not file the N400 until 3 years after original Green Card date which would put us out another 2 years.

    Could someone please advise?

    Thank you so much!

  2. I have the same questions!

I sent in a packet for renewal to the Lees Summit address with new photos, I-765 & 131, copy of SS card, copy of EA And AP card.

Got a letter and the packet back 6 WEEKS LATER, saying they do not process it there (funny, thats where I sent original). Did not tell me where to send it, only referred to web site where I didn't see any info for sending in the 1st place.

Now I read I need to send fee in again!

    Is this true?

Where do I send the info packet to?

    Thx

  3. No hurricanes in Arizona and they say 14-22 months here!!

So if it takes 14-22 months for normally a 3 month process can we expect that the 3 year process of citizenship will take 14-22 years?!!!

Back in January I called USCIS info line and was directed to an automated system. I went through the procedures and selected more info for "outside normal processing times". On June 6 (more than 6 months later) we got an automated email response that said "Due to work load factors not related to your case, USCIS anticipates a delay in completing your case....." LOL No chit!

This is what happens when there is no accountability, no one can get fired and all is done in secrecy!

I have asked my Congressman why this is happening and am waiting for answers and let you know if I get any. I'm not holding my breath.

As an American citizen I find this unacceptable!

Use your EAD/AP along with your passport to get back into the US. No need to show it to anyone on the way out. You'll probably enter secondary inspection which might take an hour or two - the main purpose is to make sure it is not fake, is still valid, you don't have a disqualifying criminal conviction, and otherwise are admissable. Remember, only US Citizens are guaranteed entry to the US but if you don't pose a national security risk you will be fine.

US citizens are NOT guaranteed entry to the US

  5. My wife and I got married and filed our I-485, 131 & 765 back in Aug 2017. She was given notice and did appear at the local immigration office for finger prints. We then received a request for a I-864 which we sent in a few weeks back. When I log onto the USCIS web site the last thing I see they posted was activity from a year ago prior to K1 visa. Why would it take a year to make any updates? Is there another site I should be looking on?

    Thx

  6. Yes, and a visitor cannot accept admission to a school because there are financial requirements to be met before an international student can enroll in school in the USA and often times, some ppl try to use visitor's visa as a decoy to skip that requirement.

So in essence, everything had some shade of suspicion that's why the CBP officer made the call. Not many ppl get that phone call.

When I spoke to the ESL schools in town all were open to take her. These are private schools and do this all the time, all they want is their $360 a month.

  7. Her being turned back will not affect the K-1 process in the future other than having to disclose it.

However, the length of time since you last saw her will affect the K-1 process since it is a requirement that you be together at some point during the 2 years previous to filing the K-1 petition (I-129F). Since she got turned back, I am assuming that the previous trips were less than 2 years ago so you should be OK there. If not, or you don't file right away, it could become an issue and you'd have to travel to see her given that it is unlikely that she will be allowed entry again on a B2.

Just spent 3 weeks there with her in February.
