Quick update. I called the service line last week, they suggested I get a stamp since I was less than two weeks away from my GC expiration. Next day I got a callback from (I think?) tier 2 to schedule an appointment.
He checked my records first and saw I already made an e-request and it’s been almost 30 days since they responded saying a duplicate was mailed. So he went “well you’ll probably never receive it”, so he scheduled an appointment. In NYC office, they were available as soon as next day at 7 am!
i went today and got my stamp and got to keep my GC, yay!

Man, I'm really confused as to what to do.
I called 8003755283 exactly 30 days ago. They gave me my receipt number and also created an e-request.
To date, I still cannot see any case status online using the receipt number.
I have still not gotten an NOA in the mail.
I tried calling 8003755283 again this morning but it's just a bunch of roundabout menu options. Can't figure out how to speak to anyone.
Can someone help?
What should I do? Schedule and Infopass?
When you call select options as if you still don’t have your receipt number, that way you should be able to get to a person.

Still no noa1 despite getting a response to e-request with a promise to resend it on Dec 27.
called USCIS, spoke with a nice tier 1 and she said they will call me back to set up an appointment to get the stamp. I was trying to avoid it as i’m on maternity leave with a newborn and in general didn’t want to give my green card up for the stamp but i’m also afraid to wait longer in case my employer inquires of my status

Checking case status online should say what's going on once the case number is in the system.
My understanding is a 2nd Biometrics isn't done in a large portion of cases as they have AOS Biometrics. I did read someone missed their appointment because they never received the notice, but that was just one person. It doesn't seem to be a recurring theme as with the NOAs..who knows...but if we miss the appointment because of a notice that wasn't sent, that's on them.
Biometrics would not be reflected in case status though. I didn’t get NOA1 but I got my biometrics and did the appointment but my case status still says “case received, we mailed you NOA1”

did they send email where they said they are sending you duplicate?once you get it let us know and let us know is there any difference in between duplicate and original one?
They did! I'll keep the forum posted, although I won't exactly know what the difference is between the original and duplicate because I never got the original.

Submitted e-request re non delivery of NOA1 on 12/17, they said they'd get back to me by Jan 8, but I got an email response today (12/27) saying that they mailed me the duplicate NOA1. Let's see when/if it gets here
I'm VSC so definitely doesn't feel like it works better than any other SC haha -
@JL716 My timeline is pretty similar with yours! Did my Bio on Monday and still haven't received NOA1 (submitted the e-request for it)
Did your online case status change after you did biometrics? (mine didn't)
-
I had photo and 4 fingers of one hand (no thumb :))

I didn't get my extension letter today but I did get my biometrics appointment for next Monday. Also the notice is dated 11/30 but I only got it today, so hope everyone gets their notices soon! My case number starts with EAC whatever that means.
-
I completely forgot to submit the form to get the text/email updates. Would they tell me the case number if I call the service line? Or I should just wait? I suppose it's too late to worry that the notice got lost in the mail as my check only got cashed on Nov 20 but I can't help it.

Thank you so much for the quick response, what is your interview for? for 1-30? or 1-485? i only filed 1-30, i have another case going on, so i am waiting for i-30 approve to close that case, then i can apply for marriage GC, it is such horrible waiting,
The interview was for both - we did concurrent filing.
I'm not sure how it works when you file separately but I thought that the interview would then be after I-485 processing, but I don't know about your situation enough to tell what's up.

My 1-30 have been transferred to new york local office last month from NSC after 6 months waiting, my pg is august 2nd 2016, I haven't heard anything from local office, I went to the queen's field office with my husband last week, they filed an inquiry for us.
May I ask you how long have you been waiting after you transferred to new york local office? we just filed 1-30 , haven't file 1-485 yet.
Thank you !!!
i actually never got an update about my case being transferred, I just got an interview notice about a month before the inverview (8 months after we filed)
Which visa are you adjusting from? If that's a K-1 then you might get your interview waived altogether.

Thanks, did your I-130 ever change? My case status online became card produced- then case approved around 7pm. I know it may be an unnecessary worry but the I-130 remains at case received. is that normal?
Yep, mine changed to Case Approved same time as I-485 but that happened next day or even a couple of days after "Card Being produced". So I don't think there is anything to worry about at all:)

For those have already received or been approved for their EAD/Ap :
was your case approved at the National Benefits center or in NYC?
My case is still at the NBC, not sure if it's supposed to be transferred to NYC to get Ead approval.
NBC.
It gets transferred to NYC not long before the interview gets scheduled.

So..... I got nervous and cancelled my 8.15 am appointment... Too much is going on.. and my I-130 hasnt been approved as yet... although I'm not too alarmed as yet because I have seen people say that they never got an approval on the I-130 .. this is just too much.. I'll just wait.. or go some other time... I was having bad luck this week.. a pole fell on my car so that was my sign to not go
I-130 only gets approved *after* you get approved on the interview (along with your I-485) so there is nothing to worry about in that regard.
-
We got approved by the end of the day! (my case status says "New Card is Being Produced" now) I will only believe it when I see my actual green card lol

Our interview was last Wednesday February 1 in NYC. We didn't get approved on the spot but the officer told us she is going to do background check and we should get a mail in 2 weeks. Today 1 week later I got a text that new card is being produced. Hopefully by next week I get the card.
Don't worry ElliePro you will get your approval soon!
Thank you! You definitely make me feel better. I wonder if we had the same officer lol

Had my interview today at the NYC office (my priority date is 4/29/2016 so it took about 9.5 months). Case held for review. Here is the post with more interview information:

We had our interview today in NYC.
It was very quick but we didn't get approved on the spot - case held for review
Details below:
Interview was scheduled for 10:15. We got there around 10:05 and it took us a while to get through security and do all the necessary check ins on different floors. But almost as soon as we did the last check in, we got called in for the interview. The officer (a lady) was very pleasant and didn't seem stern. The interview seemed to last for just 10 minutes. We got sworn in, then she asked questions to verify the stuff in our forms (Names, parents' names, DOB and place of birth, where we work, when was my last entry to the US and what was my visa at that time, whether we were married before or had children). The only extra question she asked my USC husband was how we met (he had to explain to her what Tinder is and he was quite awkward doing that lol), Then she looked at the birth certificate and marriage certificate originals and asked me those obligatory "no" questions.
And that's it - she handed us the "held for review" notice right away.
She didn't ask for any additional documents or photos. We only originally submitted the lease, two affidavits and maybe 2 months worth of joint account statements and today we brought so much more stuff... So I offered her to take it and she said - ok, I'll put it in your file.
I'm a little bit bummed. I guess the fact that we weren't asked any tricky questions or weren't asked for more paperwork means it's all good but it's waiting and waiting again and it's been 9.5 months since we've filed

Here is the Turbotax solution: https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1901214-how-do-i-prepare-a-joint-federal-return-and-separate-state-returns
Thank you, this is helpful (although not exactly cheap:)). After reading this I feel like I will have to file both NYS and CT as "married filing separately". Am I right?

Trying to file taxes and it makes me want to cry. Help!
I've lived (and worked) in the US since 2013 and until May 2016 I was on the F-1 visa so I was a non resident alien and was filing taxes as a non resident alien. In April, I got married to my US citizen spouse and we filed for AOS. I still don't have a green card (interview next week) but I feel like at the end of the year I am a resident alien because I would pass the substantial presence test (May-Dec >183 days). Am I correct?
We were initially going to file jointly and elect to treat me as a resident for full year but this way we owe a little bit in federal - but it seems like filing separately is just too much pain - how would I divide my W-2 into NRA and RA parts? Is there any software at all that deals with these type of situations?
And my last question is - have anyone ever had to deal with having to file federal married - jointly and state married - jointly for one state of income and married - separately for another? We both live in NY but I work in CT and turbotax wouldn't let me file the CT tax as "married filing jointly"
