It’s so bizarre how inconsistent it all seems. I used chrome on a MacBook for 3 n400 applications (myself and family members) and had no problems at all.

FYI:  I used Chrome on my windows 10 PC today to fill N-400, upload docs, I see the docs in the review section, and submitted.  Post submission, my USCIS online account shows the docs. No issues encountered.

Was able to use Chrome and submit N400 without any issues yesterday. No issues encountered while filling or attaching docs.

I filed from abroad with our overseas address.  We filled out the G325a form so that we were emailed notifications from USCIS and once you get to NVC stage they communicate only by email anyway.

Update on where I'm at ..... WOW everything just happens all at once. What a rush of a day!   This time yesterday I had no idea if it would be 3 weeks or 2 months til my interview. My husband leaves end of next week leaving myself and our baby until I get approved, so the uncertainty was wearing me down.  But it's all happening!

    * Case complete 14th April
    * Embassy received file 21st April
    * P4 letter 24th April (I was an embassy expedite so they do my interview steps)
    * New police clearance requested (due to expired previous request) 24th April
    * Medical scheduled for 26th April
    * Interview scheduled for 4th May

Trying to get to the USA by the 12th May (and it's 24hrs of travel) .... this should be interesting haha.  I also have to commend the Auckland consulate on how awesome they have been today.  3 emails to them and all answered within an hour of sending, even telling me what they have and what I can ignore on the interview paperwork because they have it already.    I have a new best friend at the embassy, her name is Elle and she's been amazing with previous queries as well as today.  (She also tells me she's the person checking through ALL my documentation ... no idea if she's interviewing as well but I kinda hope so).  I've seen so many horror stories of no contact with the embassy prior to the interview, but it's the opposite here in NZ.  I'm actually not nervous at all (may be closer to the date but for now I'm ok)

congratulations! I've heard Houston is an easy one ... I tried to get a flight via there lol, seemed so much quieter than LAX.  So excited your wife is finally with you :-)
PS: thanks for your earlier congratulations too, I've been off the board for a week or so just getting settled in.

Firstly congratulations to everyone who got their interviews and/or got their visas approved!

I'm happy to report I AM IN THE USA!!  I arrived on monday afternoon, and had what is probably not the standard processing.  I got gastro about an hour into my 12.5hr flight, while travelling with my baby girl, and by the time we landed in LAX I was too weak to even walk on  my own let alone carry my luggage and daughter.  They fetched a wheelchair for me and I was taken through the airport, baggage, and immigration in a wheelchair, and with airport helpers carrying my bags.
When I got up to the immigration window he only asked for mine and my daughters passports (my baby is a USC), which I handed over and stated that my husband is already here as of a week ago.  A short while later asked me to verify my right hand fingerprints, and after about 5 mins of typing he handed my passport back saying "ok all done".  I'm pretty sure that's not how it usually goes. No questions at all.

Then it was onto my connecting flight to my final destination.  I was pretty weak, thirsty and out of it... its a bit of a blur, but the main thing is WE MADE IT!!  And as of today I finally feel "normal" and am able to feel that sense of relief that the process is over!

Thesmiths2016 got a reaction from Hans Martin in How long after green card do I have to move to US?
IR1 or CR1 visas are taking about a year to process at present. Mine too 13.5months but could have been completed in 12 months if it wasn't for a couple of unexpected delays.  If you needed to delay further you can do so at NVC stage by just not sending everything straight away.
If you do what Hans has suggested just above, you need to apply for a resident return visa BEFORE you leave the USA.  At my interview they advised me of this.  Until you get the greencard in the mail this is advisable, to ensure you're able to come back in with no issues.  However they may ask for a return date. Therefore the "same day" plan may not work too well.  But visiting then returning back to norway is certainly an option for you.

If you choose to delay, I would suggest doing so at NVC stage (when they are asking you to send your IV and AOS packages in), because your other option is moving your interview date... but the consulate may question you more if they see you keep delaying the interview.

Sorry for the delay in reporting back. It's been a whirlwind couple of days.  I had my interview yesterday 4th May (here in NZ we're a day ahead of some of you), and I'm happy to report I GOT APPROVED!!  Arrived at the embassy at 9.55am, and was all done and out of there by 10.45am.  I found them to be very friendly and easygoing, and will do my full report (I wrote it all down yesterday) for a review.  The people before me got Administrative Processing, I could hear their interview. It was their 3rd time but I recall one of them had worked for a foreign government, so I think this had something to do with it.

I can't believe after 13.5 months this whole process is over.  I wish everyone waiting on their interview the best of luck.  Don't be nervous, be yourself, be honest.  I'll still be on here to support you all and answer questions :-)

Personally I found immigration to be very friendly.

with your bank statements, one thing to make sure of (assuming you're doing i-864 based on assets rather than income) is that the funds need to have been in your possession (or steadily being accumulated in your possession) over the space of at least a year.  For example, they want proof the money didnt just show up in your account last week just in time for your visa application.  For ours we provided 2 years of statements for our savings account, and for our day to day spending account which still has about $9K in it, we showed the last 6 months.

NB: when filing with assets instead of income, NVC will give you case complete with a checklist. The checklist will just be saying that the embassy will assess assets rather than them doing so, and to make sure you have up to date records at the interview.

We did bank statements etc up until our filing date in January. And then I just dropped off the updated records to the embassy yesterday, with a new i-864, in preparation for next weeks interview.  If you like I can let you know if I get any comments/requests back from them.
