  1. Hey all, just checking in to let yall know I was approved for my greencard on 27th July.  Im just waiting on my greencard to arrive in the mail now.  Very grateful to be done with this step of the process and now I’m mustering up the energy for the n-400 lol  thanks to everyone who has been supportive and took the time to answer my many questions....wishing you guys all the best!

  2. Hey Guys,  I'm curious about how you guys manage to speak to someone at USCIS.  I just called and was faced with all the automated recordings for every option -_- I'm hoping to be able to actually speak to someone!  Can someone share what number they called or what options they selected to open the magic door of speaking to an actual person lol  thanks..

Mine has been the same "case has been updated to show that fingerprints were taken" since May, 2019 and nothing has moved since. - I applied for n-400 though, at least to have something  moving

when is your 18 month extension up?  I'm actually concerned because I wonder if they haven't approved it before the extension is up, we will be out of status!!  what happens then?

  4. My case has been stuck at "case has been updated to show that fingerprints were taken" since November 2019....there's been no updates.  I'm honestly starting to wonder what's going on - I think my 18 month extension is up at the end of the year and I am not feeling like they will get to my case before then!!  Fingers crossed though.

I wasn't feeling any particular urgency to go ahead and file n-400 but I'm thinking that maybe I should so that SOMETHING can get moving?  Any thoughts on this?  Thanks guys!

  5. Hi Everyone!

I am just doing my due diligence as my window for early filing of N-400 opens up in about 2 months time and I am starting to accumulate the necessary documentation.  I am wanting to apply online under the 3-yr marriage rule.

My question is - when applying online, are proof of relationship photos required?  This is the first time filing something to USCIS where evidence of continuing relationship (besides mortgage info, tax info and bills) don't seem to be a big requirement.

Also, has anyone recently filed N-400 online with their ROC still pending?  I have already completed my biometrics (2 months ago) and just waiting now.  Just wondering how they handle both applications in the system.

    Thank you!

Hi , did you get the biometrics waiver letter before?

I didn't get any biometrics waver letter, but I did get a status update about my fingerprint review being completed, even though I had not done biometrics since AOS.  I was given the impression that my biometrics from AOS were still valid so I did not expect to receive a biometrics appointment letter but I did.  And not that much in advance of the appointment either.  I literally got it like a week before the scheduled appointment.

The only people that struggled with getting a bio metrics request after getting a waiver were those who left the country thinking they wouldn't need to be around for a bit until ROC interview or went on vacation out of state thinking they would be fine.

With that said, my husbands biometrics were waived, other people who filed the same date or within a couple of days of him were waived, and about 10% of those people who were waived received letters to go back and do biometrics.

Plenty of cases like my husbands never even showed ANY or very little online update.

His case on the new system STILL shows that his case was received, even though he's had his green card since Spring of this year. His case on the old system went from saying his number was invalid to "New Card in Production", nothing about receiving the file, biometrics, anything, just "No we don't have it" to "Hey we're making the card!"

    Good rule of thumb:

Plan for an RFE (aka make sure to keep collecting proofs and such to provide if needed)
Plan to go to biometrics even if given a waiver letter (Try not to take yourself out of the country for extended periods of time during this process)

Thank you for this helpful contribution!  Good advice here.

Well from my research I see that some did experience receiving this letter yet being served a biometrics appointment later on - however the common thread was that their case status online never indicated that the fingerprint review was completed.  One can only assume that upon reviewing the old prints it was decided that new ones were required.

On the other hand, I've found lots of others who received this letter and never had to go in for a biometrics appointment.

The verdict on this is that its a 50/50 chance of it going either way - however my bet is on not requiring a biometrics appointment in my case.

    Thank you for your assistance!

  9. Hi Everyone - After receiving my NOA1 at the end of May, I finally received a letter from USCIS.  Expecting it to be my long awaited biometrics appointment letter, I was surprised to read that it was a notice that I did not need to appear for a biometrics appointment because they were able to look up my previous biometrics data and will use it to process this case.  Sure enough when I checked the case status online it says "Fingerprint Review was Completed" - saying that as of August 17th they completed review of my fingerprints and working on my form I-751.

Another member has suggested that they will probably need biometrics later on in the process but that is a bit confusing to me - is there anyone a bit further in the process who received the same communication?

Hi I was just wondering if there is any update on your case?

My wife filed her i-751 package on 5/23 and received her NOA 1 on 05/31 but haven't received her biometrics appointment letter yet.

We filed through Texas center as well....

Looks like Texas center is moving a little slower than others.

    Thanks in advance

Hey...yes there was a small update but I was a little hesitant to share - USCIS responded to my case inquiry explaining that there seems to be a backlog at the application support center I was assigned to.  They said they have requested that a biometrics appointment be scheduled for me and once a date and time becomes available they will confirm it and send me a letter.  For many of us waiting I suspect that a biometrics appointment has not been scheduled yet simply because of the backlog at the centers right now.

I think its worth sending a case enquiry because they seem to be willing to dig a little deeper if you ask, versus the people who prefer to wait and never send an enquiry.  That's just the vibe I got both from the agent I spoke to on the phone and the case enquiry response.

Texas just may have the biggest backlog of all the service centers at this time.....but we will keep waiting and hoping.  Good luck to you!

Just throwing in my 2 cents about calling for biometrics. While it did make me feel a little better calling USCIS and talking about my biometrics they told me wait 30 days after receiving NOA. When i called them on 6/28 and asked if there was a biometrics appointment scheduled for me they told me that they as of that time could not see anything scheduled for myself. The following day (6/29) i received my biometrics in the mail and the notice date was created on 6/21. So even having the notice created 1 week after i called, USCIS customer service could not "see" a biometrics appointment scheduled for me. So my guess is that even when a bio appointment is scheduled for yourself, customer service reps can't see in their systems. Whether or not people say its a waste of time calling and just wait for it to show up, i believe you should use every service provided to you (Calling, service request) to your advantage. Its there for a reason. We all go through the same initial process, but every case is different and processing time will be different for everyone.

Agreed.  Thanks for sharing this - I will make sure to still be vigilant at the mailbox - I was getting lazy thinking that nothing will come until after they reach back out to me!

Thirteen bickering posts have been removed.

Folks, this infernal immigration process would try the patience of Job.  Those of us who are finished with it still remember the frustrations and horrors of the various phases where we got hung up or hosed.  Please remain respectful of the tension that everyone here is feeling, and make extra efforts to be supportive.  Thanks.

Can you please review the above exchanges?  If mine are in violation please remove them - thank you!

As said many times before, you need to calm down about the biometrics. Calling USCIS is not going to give you any good answers, it's called the misinformation line for a reason. There is no "should have had your biometrics notice within 30 days", they just pull stuff out of their butts and people actually believe it. Some will receive their biometrics early on, some will wait for months and even over a year.

They will send your bio letter when they need your fingerprints, so calm down. The majority of the ROC cases in this very thread will take way over a year before anyone even looks at the cases, so why do you think USCIS needs your fingerprints now? They don't, they just need them right before they make a decision. Which I said is a long time from now for most of us.

Tons and tons of September, October, November and December 2018 filers haven't even had their biometrics taken yet, you guys filed in MAY 2019.

I'm just at a loss as to what VJ has become.  When we filed for my K1 visa three yrs ago this forum was such a community.  In our monthly filers thread we tried to understand each other, looked forward to updates so we could figure out our own next move, and cheered every breakthrough someone made.  By the time I had my visa in hand I had gained a family in those people who were a part of that thread.  I remember them well, and we even kept in touch for some months after.  Everyone got split up because everyone's weddings were scattered across different times and then everyone filed for AOS at different times but, I miss the community we shared here on VJ.

Nobody ever came in the forum demanding that people "calm down", nobody came in here trying to tell anyone else how to feel about their own case, the outcome of which can change the future for themselves or their families.

I really miss how we used to be.  Honestly this makes me very sad.  But if I have updates I will continue to share because I know that updates like mine help the people who lurk for years and never say anything but they need the help and they need the breakthrough that can help their case move along.  Posting this with love always.

Like I said, if they didn't want people to submit enquiries this early on that yes, need to be handled by a person, they would set it up for the enquiry submission to be denied. If they are open to having people submit enquiries, then how is that the fault of the person submitting it?
They aren't getting enquiries from every single person waiting on their RoC. I get where you're coming from, but ultimately nothing wrong is being done? It's not like they're pestering the CS line every couple of hours or submitting enquiries nonstop.
I just don't feel like there's a need to be so rude.

Thank you, and for the record the person i spoke to said that submitting an enquiry was exactly what I should have done because I, like many of us still waiting, should have gotten our biometrics letter within 30 days of filing.  She was about to submit one on my behalf when she noticed I submitted one a few days prior.  My update was to encourage whomever was still waiting and was anxious to submit an enquiry if they are nearing or over the two month mark as I am.  Im not sure who may be willing to sit and wait for their immigration paperwork to just “come around” but I certainly am not one of them, mine and my husband and my infant daughter’s future depend on it.  Thank you very much.

  15. I just thought I'd pop back in here to update:  I still have not received my biometrics appt letter after receiving my NOA1 since the end of May (it was dated 5/22).

I called USCIS yesterday after a long 50 min wait - the lady who answered looked into it and said that we should be getting our Biometrics Letter within 30 days after the NOA1.  In my case specifically, she was able to check and see that apparently my biometrics appointment has not even been scheduled yet, for some reason.

I did submit a case inquiry online a week ago and she saw that, so she said its been registered on the system and I should be getting an email by the first week of August about next steps.  She said they would not be sending my biometrics info over the email but it should be a correspondence that says a biometric letter has been or will be sent.

Again, not much new information there but it was comforting speaking to someone about it.  She was actually able to tell me that its not that anything was lost in the mail - its just that for some reason it has not been scheduled - and I suspect that for many of us at SRC that may be the case.  If anything else changes I will let all know.

Yes I've called before but it didn't help much because when I called they said they didn't see a biometrics appointment scheduled. However that same week I received my appointment notice with a notice date of the week prior. I called 6/28 and the notice was dated 6/21. You can keep trying though.what service center are you?

I'm at the Texas Service center
