  1. Well the weird thing is I've never stayed in Canada for more than 5 months at a time. As I said, I left Canada every single school break, and each semester is 5 months. (I was there on a student visa that was to expire right after graduation)

I am not sure if this is a technicality that exempts me from the police certificate or what. But even if it really is yes...I have no idea how to go about getting it from here in Trinidad....

  2. Hey guys,

Just a little bit on my situation - my American fiance was unemployed for a few months last year so his 2015 tax transcripts just missed the poverty line requirement. However, he has been employed from Aug 2015 to present time and is changing to a new job again in September (he just got that offer). Both his current job and his upcoming new job surpass the poverty guidelines.

    A few questions:

So I gather that we will have to provide his tax transcript for 2015 - should I show the tax transcripts from previous years to show that he was gainfully employed before his period of unemployment?

I understand that if his 2015 tax transcript does not meet the poverty guidelines we will have to show bank statements. How far back should we go with the statements? A few months prior to the interview or possibly for 2015?

Do we provide a job letter from his present job and also supply the job offer for his new job he is supposed to begin in September? Pay stubs won't be a problem, we will supply all that he has for the year so far.

If there's anything i missed that you suggest I provide, please let me know - I prefer to be over prepared than under prepared.

    Thanks guys..

  4. Hey guys,

Just trying to be proactive while waiting for this NOA2....is there anyone that can direct me to a final (correct) comprehensive list of the vaccinations required for the K1 visa and the AOS? Hoping to kill 2 birds with one stone ahead of time!

I've googled, I've even searched visajourney, and the conflicting information is crazy! I'm also a little afraid of needles so I'm hoping the correct list isnt that long

    Thanks....

  5. Thank you baron555!

The trip from Trinidad to Houston is 5.5 hours nonstop direct on United Airlines. Wow @ 15 hrs for your wife's dogs....if they were okay then my girl should be too.

I've already contacted United and they are fine with shipping her in the cargo hold. She is a small dog but not small enough to fit under a plane seat (one of their requirements) so into cargo she goes.

Thanks for your responses!!! If anyone else has any specific experience with United Airlines PetSmart please let me know!

  6. I am a beneficiary in Trinidad, we mailed our i-129F last month. Like you, we are anticipating a September/October interview date. My passport also expires in March 2017.

Personally I am being cautious and renewing my passport now as I understand that they will not grant a visa unless the passport is valid for at least 6 months from the approval date. With the interview date being uncertain, and the processing times for the passport renewal being uncertain here in Trinidad, I am actually starting the renewal process this week.

I'm not sure what other people would recommend but I vote for renewing the passport as soon as possible! When your NOA2 comes through and things start moving, the last thing you want to think about is the validity of the passport. At the very least, it gives you peace of mind!

  7. Hi fellow pet parents,

I am applying for the K1 visa to join my US fiance in Houston. We are currently awaiting our NOA2, but I'm trying to start the process on my end to get my doggy ready. I plan on taking her with me when I go to Houston on the K1, whenever its approved - hopefully sooner than later!

I am familiar with the vaccination and other requirements for her to travel, but I have a few questions for those who may have done this before on the K1:

    1) Is it risky to take my doggy on my K1 flight - would having her when I land complicate the POE process for me? Should she be sent beforehand or should she be sent to me in Houston after I've gotten there? Is there a recommended way to handle this?

    2) I am a little unclear about what they do when pets land - I think there should be a vet at the airport to check the paperwork, examine them and clear them? Also, with all the requirements met, I would like to be sure that no quarantine is necessary and I can take my dog home with me. (I ask because in Trinidad, quarantine seems to be mandatory when pets land, regardless of if all of their vaccination requirements are met or not. I hope this is not the case in the US).

    3) I understand that at the POE when you arrive on K1, it takes quite a while before exiting the terminal because they have to basically question you a little first and it can take 1-2 hours to wait to be seen by the authorities. This alone makes me nervous for my frightened doggy waiting unclaimed. United Airlines seems to have a good PetSmart program...I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. At this point I am contemplating having my fiance come to Trinidad before the K1 trip to accompany us back to Houston, just so he could perhaps move ahead of me when we land to collect the doggy and keep her til I get out of the terminal.

As a pet parent this entire thing is so scary - Im worried enough about my own process at POE so I would love to be put at ease about my pet's process at least! The flight over will be scary enough for her (and she can get skittish) so I am really trying to make the crossover as easy for us as possible. I would LOVE to hear from anyone who has experience bringing their pets over to the US on their K1 flight. Thanks!!

  8. Hi guys,

We are about to mail our petition and we are going to use Fedex - my question is, what address do we send it to?

Do we send it to the following address?

For USPS Express Mail and courier deliveries:

    USCIS
    Attn: I-129F
2501 South State Highway 121 Business
    Suite 400
    Lewisville, TX 75067

And what about the signature? I am a little worried that they will require a signature...

Also, do we just include a cheque for $340 in an envelope clipped to the rest of the documents?

    Hoping for a quick response!

  9. Hi all,

quick question, is there a way to request the packet 3, forms, and approval letters digitally only? I ask because I don't actually live at my "permanent address" (its my family's home), and I never list my rental addresses for any official business because I never like the hassle of changing addresses when I move!

My family's home is pretty far from where I currently stay though, and I know if I was living there I would be guarding the mailbox like a hawk! But as it stands I would have to make a pretty lengthy commute to get my mail.

Has the digital correspondence from the Embassy been done before? Thanks...

  10. Hi guys,

A little confused by the processing times I saw on a webpage a short while ago. My fiance is in Houston and is filing our I-129f for us on Saturday.

My question is, what determines what processing center our application will go to?

And also...I'm confused by the processing times. When I looked up the current processing times I thought there was a delay but then I saw another thread a short while ago where the person said their wait time seems quite short. Maybe I'm interpreting the information wrong, I don't know.

With the current processing times, if we file this weekend, April 9th, assuming there's no RFE's or anything, can anyone experienced with this process estimate when you think we will get an interview? For those in the middle of the process right now, has it been moving quickly so far?

I ask because although we are basically just starting this process, we are quite eager to set some plans in motion from now and it is really very frustrating that the entire process can be very unpredictable! I need to know that the light at the end of the tunnel exists! lol thanks guys...

  11. Hey guys,

We are going to file our I-129f package in the next few days....we are so excited! My fiance is the US citizen and I am the beneficiary.

We are trying to plan ahead for the items for the next step where documents are required (NOA2 - I-134 and supporting docs). Would it be too soon to start gathering those documents way ahead of time even before receiving the NOA1 or 2? Just trying to be as diligent as possible!

Also, I've been looking at the step by step guide and the K1 flow processes and I'm a little confused. I thought that my fiance has to attend an interview in the US with the I-134 form and documents, and then later on in the process I also had to attend an interview at the US embassy here in Trinidad. From what I'm reading though, it seems that only the beneficiary has to attend an interview at the US embassy in their country?

My fiance in the states is therefore supposed to send me his I-134 form and documents for me to show in my interview?

Just a quick confirmation on these things please! Thanks Xx

  12. Another question...

Reading all of your responses have been SUPER helpful, thank you all so much!

One more question for you guys: right now I've been accumulating all of our documents in a large brown envelope, but how are we to present our package when it is officially sent in?

Are we to just slip all the documents in an envelope to mail in? The cover sheet we will be putting in will no doubt list what we are submitting in a particular order. Do we punch and bind them so they stay all together in a neat booklet? (I highly doubt that one)

Do I purchase one of those folders that simply clip the stack of paper together and keep them safely enclosed?

I am afraid of submitting a package where things are just loose and can get lost. I don't know if there's a standard for this that I've missed but better safe than sorry! What do I do?

  13. Hi all,

My fiance and I are well on our way to completing our I-129f package for submission to kickstart our process.

We have a question about the G-325A form though. Lots of old threads say a few different things so I would like clarity once and for all:

    1) Both my fiance (my petitioner) and I each have to submit 1 completed form each or 4 completed forms each? This will also let us know if we have to submit 1 passport sized photo each or 4, since 1 photo has to be attached to each form.

    2) Applicant's employment last five years: this question asks for the full name and addresses of each employer. We had been filling in our forms on the computer, but realized that the line provided was too small to show all of the employer information - if it was printed it will only show whatever can fit in the space provided. Can we attach a sheet to show this information and reference it on the form?

    3) Some posts I've read show that we can type in our information, others say we have to handwrite all information on the G-325a with black ink (we know that typed or not, our signatures need to be in original black ink). What is the verdict here?

Thanks again for your help guys!

  14. Hi everyone,

I've been lurking for a little while as I knew that my US citizen boyfriend and I were getting serious about discussing marriage and we were going to be using the K-1 process to get there. I very recently became happily engaged and we are quite eager to get started as I understand that this can be a 10-month process (eek!)

My question is about the International Marriage Broker question. We met on Tinder! No big deal right? But my fiancee actually did pay a small fee from his location in the United States to be able to meet people from all over the world. We both matched, started talking, eventually exchanged information, and the rest is history. 5 months of 24/7 contact and 2 visits later, we are very keen on being together.

Because of the way we met though, I am unsure of how to answer the marriage broker question. The description of what a marriage broker is seems specific but is actually a little vague where apps like Tinder are concerned. Can anyone help?

Thank you so much and I look forward to letting you all know of my journey........reading these posts over the past few weeks have really armed me with some useful tips on how to go about this tedious process.
