I agree with Nipperswife on this. I would schedule an infopass to see if you can get more information.

Calling customer service is really a waste of time. I spent hours on the phone with customer service and they just don't have any answers or advice. Infopass is really the only way to get answers.

I would schedule an infopass if I were you. Calling them is so pointless sometimes, then again they might just put you on to the secondary or tertiary ... try calling 18003755283 press 1 then 222 to speak to a rep.
to schedule the infopass go to www.uscis.gov and click on the schedule infopass

    sorry that you're worried.

    Another update....

So after our case was denied for failing to attend an interview and then being reopened on 3/23...then receiving an interview notice on April 1st for an appointment on March 31st...we decided to go to our local office yesterday to see if we could speak to an Officer.

On arriving at the office we explained to the receptionist that we had received an interview notice the day after our interview time and that the envelope was postmarked on 3/29 for an interview on 3/31 so no way we could receive it on time....the receptionist's response was that we could have "easily forged the envelope" - I told him that it was a ridiculous accusation to make and that I wanted to speak to an immigration officer. He went away and came back 5 minutes later and said that we would be interviewed that day.

Waited 30 minutes and we were called in for interview. We were sworn in, provided the officer with all of our supporting documentation. First thing the officer asked for was if I had a new medical. (My case took 14 months and I'm glad I went for the new medical 2 weeks ago) Then asked some very basic questions about our relationship etc. We were approved on the spot. Interview took about 2 minutes. Officer put a stamp in my passport, told us that we would receive GC in about 2 weeks and to remember to file for new GC 90 days before 2 year card expires.

This has been extremely stressful and I'm glad it's over, for now. Thank you to everyone here who wrote to me, sent PMs offering support. This process is long, frustrating and filled with road blocks. Just know that if you are organized, stay on top of your case and continue to press when things go beyond processing times, it will eventually get straightened out.

For what it's worth, I know a lot of people here on VJ are against using lawyers, I would say I'm on the fence. I had a lawyer who was extremely unhelpful and didn't respond when I had issues with my case. When I received the denial notice 2 weeks ago I got in touch with a different and very reputable lawyer. Within 3 days he had my case reopened and within 2 weeks my case went from being denied to approved. I 100% believe that if you have the right lawyer with the right connections, they can speak to officers they know at USCIS directly and get things moving...so yes, having the right lawyer is a massive help.

I think that USCIS need to address their practices and make changes. There are simply too many mistakes made for something that affects people as greatly as immigration does, and I think USCIS needs to take accountability and responsibility for this. The simple fact that important mail such as interview notices are not sent certified mail is completely unacceptable and must be changed.

Anyway, I've written enough here! Best of luck to everyone!

Guys I have an update (PS this is a long post):

I had an infopass appointment last week which I had to cancel (I got appendicitis last Tuesday and had to get emergency surgery - THE WORST!!!!!). Anyway, I managed to get an appointment today at 2:15 by some miracle. I went to the InfoPass appointment, gave them all my receipts/notices and turns out we did get an interview date for MARCH 10!!!!!!! I could not believe it. Obviously we never received anything in the mail. He went upstairs to take a look at our file. Turns out that when they sent the notice they forgot to include our apartment number so it was sent back as undeliverable (#######). They gave me a letter saying they will give me a new interview date--they will add me manually to the system. He said if I'm nervous about the notice getting lost in the mail again to make another appointment in a month (I'm gonna do it in two weeks) to see if any notice has been mailed out and they'll make me a copy of the notice right in the office.

Moral of the story please stay on top of your application. There are so many things that could happen. The guy who helped me (who was extremely helpful and nice) said I was lucky to have gone in when I did or I would've gotten my application denied.

HI, I could really use some solid and accurate advice, please.
I am currently on over 100 days of waiting for my advanced parole document. My case was approved on April 27, but there have been issues producing EAD/AP combo cards around that time and mine was part of that. I've called USCIS several times and opened service requests with no luck so far.
Long story short, my father was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer a few weeks ago and is terminally ill. His condition has deteriorated rapidly and he has just been admitted to hospital in my home country.
I really need to get the AP so that I can go home and visit him. I spoke with someone yesterday who gives "immigration advice" that told me that "if you travel on an advanced parole document before your I485 AOS is approved, you need to start the whole AOS process again".......
Needless to say, this freaked me out a bit as I was hoping to get on the first plane possible when the AP comes through.
I thought the whole purpose of AP was to be able to travel while awaiting AOS? Is the woman who gave me this warning completely wrong?

Well, I'm at at over 100 days now. Clearly issues with cards made the last week in April. How the production of faulty cards don't go to the top of the pile when the machine is working properly again just bemuses me. Makes ZERO sense.
Glad to hear your niece is ok!
Hi Cattleya. Thanks for the update. I spoke to a "friendly" tier 2 officer 2 weeks ago who said I'd have my card "within 10 days tops" and it didn't happen.
Trust me, I have called about 10 times asking for them to help me and push the card into production - but they have absolutely no power whatsoever. They are in a call center. The best they can do is start a service request, which can take up to a month to be responded to.

I saw someone continually bash the OP for the semantics of her husband's current entry status, which esta/vwp is basically the same thing and the fact of the matter is that since the OP married her spouse while he was lawfully in the country, she is free to file for AOS if they choose to live in the US. That is all that needed to be said, along with perhaps some advice on the steps needed to be taken. Harpa, I thought you were being helpful.

Well said. Some of the "experienced" people around here can really get on their high horse. The whole purpose of a forum like this is to share knowledge and try to help.
Best of luck with your husband and your baby!

Boiler, I fully understand that this happens, and that is unfortunate. But immediately jumping down someone's throat who is trying to get some advice is just a disgusting way to behave. It is not up to anyone on this forum to judge or assume anyone else's intent.

I am absolutely stunned and sickened at the people who are judging the OP for having a baby and asking her who "paid for the delivery" - you should be ashamed of yourselves.
How about all of the visa holders who pay millions of dollars of taxes per year and cannot claim benefits when they are needed? I paid taxes for 4 years in the US and when I was unemployed for 7 months I wasn't eligible to claim benefits from a system I have paid a significant amount of money into.
So, with that said, I paid for the delivery of the OP's child, probably several times over. So those who are scrutinizing her, get a grip of yourselves.

Of course not, but it's rich of people to try to shame someone who is just seeking advice.

Trinaqueen - I wasn't able to find why/how you got your case expedited, but congrats!
I filed in mid feb, bio early march, then RFIE for -i485 end of March. Just had the update that RFE was received so hopefully things will get moving again. It's really disheartening when you get an RFE
