  1. I dont know how the justice system works in Tx , so this is in no way legal advice . If i was in your situation i would , at the arraignment hearing , plead not guilty . That puts the burden of proof on the state to prove their case . Depending on how many were arrested and how bad the situation was the state may not want to go through the process of prosecuting. However if they do your fiance has a clean record and by pleading not guilty that will allow her to speak directly to the judge that he may hear her side of the story. Many times the state will attempt to get a person to either plead guilty or no contest and when that happens the judge does not get to here her side of what happened. You will be at the mercy of the states recommendations . I would also keep your plans for the wedding just as they were . Like others have said you can get a good laywer , just beware of the tricks the state will attempt to get a conviction .

  2. In an attempt to divert depression , I spend most of my time doing home improvement for that wonderful day that my wife and daughter finally make it home. My wife spends her free time instructing home improvements via skype :P . I find staying busy and focused on the goal . Every time we have to wait for the next step i dive into another project . that seems to keep us going , hope it helps :)

  3. I am sorry to hear that you got a checklist. I know you spoke to them on the phone but did they also send an email to notify you of the checklist and that your nib clearance was missing? Just getting a little worried our scan date was July 18th and several with scan dates after us are getting CC.

I called yesterday Wednesday 24th and they just said as before "I can't see if your file is being evaluated...I can only see when the scan date is and when your review is complete" He also said that it is taking about 6 weeks. Just still confused how others with scan dates after us are getting CC.

This waiting really sucks the separation from the wife sucks even more!

Please let me know if you received an email the same day that your got your checklist....thanks.

I never got a check list , i called NVC to find out what was going on with my case, I imagine at some point i will get an email or hard copy but the NBI document will be at NVC by 8:30 tomorrow morning , nvc worker said everything else was in order other than that , so as soon as they process that one document we will have case complete . Our daughters case is cc so its just waiting for mamas lol

  4. The way NVC schedules is first come, first served; so the earlier you get a CC, the earlier your interview date. You can, however, try to reschedule your interview on the ustraveldocs website for an earlier date once your CEAC status says "READY."

Oh no, how unfortunate! Sorry to hear that :( Might as well send in the NBI clearance as soon as you can...

Oh it is going overnight fed ex but will still need to be scanned ugh

  5. What do you mean how often? Truth be told they don;t update it at all. The lil secret of AOS turning from PAID to N/A was found by a VJ member over a year ad half ago or so and that's how many find out they have case complete and they call in. That's all you can do is keep an eye on that AOS fee.

EP people this doesn't apply to you. Sorry.

I was just wondering if N/A showed up once a day or whenever they happened to enter it :)

  6. It's easy for us to say leave him, get out, and move on, but where is she going to go? She admitted not having any money, no job, no car, no family here, what options does she really have? A shelter? Have any of you actually stayed in one? The conditions must suck big time. Is it safe there?

One option is call family and ask for some money, if even possible, to get out on your own. Look for a job and a place to live.

I actually had a talk with my wife the other day about this. If we ever divorced, she would just go back to her home country (even though she has a full-time job and US citizenship). The only reason that she is here is to be with me. If that ends, she would prefer to be with family. And she couldn't afford to pay for an apartment, utilities, food, etc on her salary. And she would be incredibly lonely.

    OP,

Are you sure that you would want to live in the US alone? This is something that you need to ask yourself.

I cant imagine how anyone could do this . because I love my wife i have set up a special bank account just for her, and am encouraging her to get her licence ( i already bought her a car that is all hers) God forbid our relationship fails, but if it did i want to make sure she never feels trapped so far from home . I am the reason she is coming to the US . How people can bring someone here and treat them poorly . :(
