Hi All,

So, I have moved recently and am not in any temporary/pending status (already have my 10 year green card and don't need to naturalize for a while). We live in a temporary location while we buy a house, so we have all our mail going to a PO Box as there is no mail box at the house we are currently renting.

Two questions:

1) Would it be wise to fill out the change of address online form as well as the AR-11 form even though I don't have any pending applications with USCIS? I think I might, just because.

2) I'm filling out the AR-11 paper form to mail in and it asks me for my present address... Should I put my physical street address, then my PO Box address and then the town, and Zip code where my PO Box address is? I want all mail going to the PO Box as our rented house has no mail box at it (as I said above). Will they even accept a change of address with just a PO Box and no physical address?

You'd think they would have had the physical address and then another line option for mailing address changes too - but of course they don't!!

I got the CPO email on the 15th and just got the card today. So they are coming!!! The envelope wasn't postmarked until June 23rd. So yours should be coming up quick!

You can go ahead and change your address online now. Use this link: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa

You can also submit the AR-11 form by snail mail. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/ar-11.pdf is the AR-11 form to fill in.

People have forgotten to update their address and have changed it online as well as the paper form right before they sent away their ROC package and they were fine. Just as long as you have filed it at some point is the important thing.

You really should change your address with USCIS prior to filing to remove conditions though - this is important so make sure you do it.

Our case wasn't to be seen online until about a week after biometrics, and after that there were no touches...still not.

We haven't received any touches since the original receipt date and today I just got a letter in the mail - we are approved as of 4/22!!! Interesting that CSC doesn't 'waste' time by updating the online status. . .

I got 3 identical biometrics letters. First one was sent by mistake (closed on 26 of December), so I went to my second one and brought all the letters. Made sure that the lady canceled the other one.

At the end of Febuary, I received my first biometric appt letter scheduled for tomorrow, March 14th. All is fine until yesterday, in the mail, my hubby informs me that I received an identical biometrics appt. letter with the day being March 26th!

Both letters look identical and there is no sign that the 2nd one was rescheduling my 1st appt. I intend on showing up tomorrow like my initial letter has stated because I really want to keep my application rolling through this process.

Any thoughts on this? Has this happened to anyone else? Should I bring both biometrics letters or would this confuse these people?!

If you really want to get tax transcripts I know that if you phone to request them and you are by a fax machine they will send them to you while you are still on the phone. Just some information if you don't want to wait a week to get them. But, it's not necessary to submit tax transcripts either.

Oh wow, thanks for reminding me about the AR-11....See, my last move was within the same apartment complex, but we just moved into a bigger apartment. The address is the same but the apartment number is different, I meant to call USCIS and let them know about that piece of information....do you think I should fill out an AR-11 before sending the documents out or calling them first?!

Also, I will try and call the IRS and see it goes....if it doesnt seem like an easy enough process, I will send the package out with the HR block tax return.

I see I guess I could see how that could be 80 pages.....if I add all pages of bank statement, I am sure it would ebd up being a lot of pages. I also did 2 utilities from each year, 3 years altogether since we have been married. I thought of adding comcast cable which is in my name only but someone advised not to include anything that is not joint bill and it could potentially work against me. what do you think? i will update soon before week runs out exactly how many pages i ended up with.....

not sure how it could work against you... I included a bunch of stuff that was either just in my name or just in my husbands name.. if anything else it proves that you live at the same address...

we also had to move into a new place as the landlady sold the house from under us too, so 2008 was VERY hectic.

Did you notify USCIS that you moved as you stated in your original explanation? If not, then I would also fill out the proper documentation (AR11 - you can fill this out online) to notify them about your change of address before you submit your I-751 with your new address on it. That may be why you haven't gotten any information from USCIS - it might be sent to your old address and they may not allow it to be forwarded. . .

We got a reminder, though it went to our old address, which alarmed me a bit because we were very careful to update our address with USCIS after we moved. Filed the I-751 and evidence, and they received the package today at the Vermont Service Center. Fingers crossed that we'll get transferred to the California Service Center....

I received a reminder letter about 3 weeks before my 90 day window open. It was on a blank white piece of paper, nothing formal like the NOAs with color paper and watermark. It almost even look like junk mail from the envelope because it only has my first name initial and my last name. They didn't put my full name on the letter. So may I ask for the VJers here who received a reminder, if you guys have receive the same kind of reminder like I do?

I believe that it is sent to Passport Canada in Gatineau, QC. I too got my passport back in a little over 2 weeks after I sent it by courier (the way to go for sure).

I changed my name on my passport too, and I had to fill out a full version application (not the simple renewal one or the online one). Of course I had to send in a copy of my marriage certificate to prove the name change. The instructions on the application are pretty self explanitory.

Since I'm heading to Toronto in a few days to visit my sister , I want to get my passport renewed while i'm there. I'm just wondering if it matters if I fill in the online version (pdf), or the other online version (both are under the Canadians living the the USA section)? It sounds like I have to print both off anyways, so I doubt it matters.

Another thing, for us US permanent residents, does the new guarantor policy apply to us? Or do we still have to us the old passport guarantor policy? I'm going to be meeting up with a few people of my friends while I'm out there and just wondering if they can sign (they have a valid passport)?

THis is kinda off the wall, but what about getting your family members to take pics of him in the hospital - making sure the date is on the pics to prove that he is there. Also, can your doctor just write a letter stating that your father is in the hospital, but because of the doc/patient confidenciality agreement he can say no more than that. It isn't confidencial that he is in the hospital, just what his illness is - so really the doctor should at least be able to write this much up without crossing the line. I also liked the idea of affidavits from family and close friends about his situation, notarized of course. Good luck, very hard situation to be in.

I have a Question for the ones who have filed their AOS? Ruchie and Mathew will be here June 15th and we are wanting to file the AOS before the Fees Increase! Do you think it is possible to get Married,get SSN,fill out I-435 form and all supporting Documents in time before the fee increases? We would have approximately 6 weeks to do all this after she arrives here..... It just seems like we would be really pushing it! What do you Think????

Yes, it is not necessary to have the SSN to file for AOS, so no need to worry about that at this point. I would also try and give it a shot if you can.

You may be able to get it in before the increase.

The least you can do is try. Get an infopass at your district office and submit proof of reasons for you to leave and the 131 form filled out and ready to go and hope for the best. I wish you luck.
