  1. Does anyone know how recent the police record has to be for the Dominican Republic? My fiance got his police record in September so does he need to go and get an updated one before the interview? He does not have any criminal history so it has not changed.

My understanding is that it should not be more than 30 days. But it could be wrong. If I find out any further info I will provide you with the source.

Call this number and ask them (703) 988-3410

  2. I guess the profile we need to set up to schedule fingerprint and medical. So I guess I have to wait for case number, set up "the profile" and call to ask the question!

This is what rthe embassy website stays

    2. You need to create your profile/electronic account at ww.ustraveldocs.com/do. After completing your profile, choosing a delivery location, and selecting the correct visa class, you will be directed to a confirmation page that lists the visa fee amount due. Please print this page and take it to Banco Popular Dominicano to pay your visa fee.

  3. To put your mind at ease call the Embassy that you will be processing through and ask your question. I'm curious about the answer. Emailing is slow at best. Sometimes Embassy's will correspond in facebook. Search and see if you can find a facebook page for your Embassy.

I called the embassy but bc I haven't set up a profile the rep said she could not give me further information.. I haven't tried setting up a profile bc I thought that should be done by my fiancé.

  4. Best of luck on this journey. It makes me nervous now bc I didn't frontload the application with evidence other than what is stated in the instructions of the 129f. I was told by an experienced person that sometimes when you send tons of stuff the CO might think you are covering "all your bases" to avoid a denial. I just sent 3 pics of us and copies of my passport pages showing we met within the 2 years required. On the SD embassy states to bring evidence to the interview of a bonafide relationship and that's exactly what I will do. If we get denied bc they don't look at the evidence you bring in to the interview how would they know whether you keep in contact with your fiance(e) after application was submitted. I am lost how they denied your case without even looking at the evidence. But all and all best of luck and hoping your CR1 gets approved. I know how hard is to be apart from the person you love. Stay positive and be persistent! Hugs!

  5. It must be different for every country then because I have asked the embassy in Sweden and they want it presented or the visa will not be granted.

I tried emailing the embassy but no luck. I thought it was the same procedure for all embassy since it has to deal with a child. I try posting a question in my country forum but I saw someone already asked the question and no answers

  6. haha i know! i've told all my friends to stop texting me, and most of my notifications are from this group and all of their exciting news! meanwhile I'm over here attempting to stay busy doing something else, and being super jealous of all the NOA2's

yes i'll get you a double scoop of patience haha, thank you very much We all need some good news pleaseee

Hang in there! Megan u know I am here if u need to stay busy. Bug me all u want. I will have a final list tomorrow I will share ?. I have the feeling u will hear soon!

  7. Regarding the interview and documentation about permission for the children, are you speaking specifically about the DR Embassy ? Because I know for Ukraine at least, the interview document checklist includes documentation regarding custody of children and the ability for them to leave Ukraine. So, I just wanted to throw that out there in case people assume blanket statements are being made.

    Thanks.

  8. They will grant the visa. It's not the Embassy's responsibility to determine if they can actually travel or not. That up to the her. CO's only concern is if they meet the visa requirements and she is getting vetted each step of the way. Next is the Embassy.

They just have to get beyond immigration at the departing airport. That's where they need the notarized letter from the BF/Husband/Xhusband/Father.[/quote

    Thanks.

  9. This website pretty much spells out what can and cannot be done for traveling with a minor. http://www.passportsusa.com/family/abduction/country/country_489.html

Not only do documentation requirements change based on your destination and how you enter the country (sea, land, or air), but also it changes based on the whim of the airline, cruise and customs officials. My advice: err on the side of over-documentation. I recommend a notarized letter of consent from the other parent of your child. Some countries, like the UK, do not require it for arrival by air, but laws may change at the last minute, so double check before departure. Call the consulate of your destination. Remember to tell them how you are entering the country: by air, sea or land. It makes a difference.

I would have a notarized letter to travel whether in country our out of country.

    Thank you all!

  10. If they have joint custody, and the child lives with the mother, you will need official documents that will allow the child to leave the country with her father. Please note the DR does not allow for Dual Citizenship, so eventually the child will lose DR citizenship when they gain US Citizenship, they won't just be able to freely come and go between both countries, the same process you went through to go visit him is the process they will need to go through to visit their mother as well. And the chances of the mother getting a Visa to visit their daughter in the US will be very difficult.

Thank you. I understand to physically leave the country we need her permission in writing and notarized. However do we need the present any document with her permission the day of the interview in order for the kid to be granted her visa.?

  11. What country will they travel in? Are they citizens of that country? Are they traveling outside their country for the interview or within? Are you still married to the other parent? If divorced do you have anything in the divorce decree that they give permission. Not enough information to answer your question.

Each country is different. For instance. In the Philippines (which I am familiar with but not an expert) the mother has sole discretion over the children and can leave the Philippines without the father's permission. It's their law.

Maybe i didnt articulated my question correct... My fiancé has a daughter who we have included in the process for the fiancé visa. I was wondering if when we go to the interview in santo Domingo DR, they will ask us for any signed and notarized document from the kid's mother in order for the kid to obtain her visa along with daddy. As far as I know they both dual custody of the child (the birth certificate lists both of their names). The child permanently lives with the mother though.

  12. Packet 3 is the collection of documents that the Beneficiary will need to submit to the Embassy once it hits that stage. The required documents are generally specific by each country, but usually there are similar required documents.

    Each Embassy will want:

    1. I-134 Affidavit of Support ( as well as Tax Transcripts from the Petitioner)

    2. Police Records

    3. Medical Examination (some doctors have the Beneficiary bring it with them to the interview, Most send it directly to the Embassy themselves)

    4. Passport style photos

    5. Copy of the DS-160 if done electronically (or the DS-160 form if not available electronically)

    6. Proof of payment for the DS-160 if done electronically (or the payment itself if the electronic DS-160 is not available)

There are other things that will be required, but as mentioned each Embassy will be different. I already have a list of what I need, because someone who very recently went through the process at GUZ provided a copy of the Packet 3 requirements for China. You can check your regional Sub-Forums to see if anyone has a recent copy of the Packet 3 requirements if you wish to get a headstart.

Please note, some things you don't want too much of a headstart on (ie. Medical Exam), but others you do want to get a headstart on (ie. Police Records, Court Records, and any other requirements that they may have that you can start to prepare in advance)

Here is what you may find in the Dominican Republic Packet 3 requirements http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/k1-k2_instructions.html

But others have reported the requirements on the website are similar, but not exact to the Instructions sent by mail to the Beneficiary, so expect some things to be different.

    ****EDIT****

I reviewed the Regional Subforums for Mexico, Latin America, and South America, people report there is no Packet 3 delivered for the DR, and you need to follow the instructions on the website I linked above.

Thanks. I was a lil worried for a second. Awesome!!'

  13. Heads up folks.

Was just on the tracker app and found a petition literally 2 numbers before mine and one ONE AFTER approved.

    My NOA1 was the 29th.

    Stay positive.

Patience and staying positive pays off! I was settling for a long journey when I started the process then found VJ and I was suprised to see how fast things could move! So yeah keep yourself busy and don't check the tracker too often it will only drive your anxiety to the max. Best of luck everyone!
  14. Use your number beginning with BNK and check the list in this link daily. If your attorney is being truthful with you and sent your packet 3 in when they said it should only take 3-5 days to get your packet 4 with interview date back. My fiance just spoke to someone else that she does not know well about their experience with the K1 visa in Thailand using an attorney. They started with the attorney in June. Her attorney supposedly sent in her packet 3, 3 months ago and her appointment is in February.... We sent our packet 3 Saturday and tracking showed it signed for at the Embassy on Sunday. We expect to have a February appointment notice in a day or so.

    Congratulations!

    It's a great feeling.

Thanks. It is an Awesome feeling!

    Congratulations that's awesome news!

I'm getting a bit worried as our NOA 1 was 17 December 2015 and we've heard nothing back. My fiancé had to call the office on 4 January 2016 as they had my birth country as UNKNOWN. So he called and advised to say I was born in the UK. It shows online this has been sorted out now on 19 January 2016 but our case hasn't been touched since. I just am probably being very impatient as I don't know how all this works. Any words to help me would be greatly appreciated. I didn't know if them having to update my case would delay it at all?

    .

Thanks. Be patient! It pays off. I kept myself busy with wedding plans. Just have faith and when u least expect it it will come thru
