shoeman009 got a reaction from Reema1 in K1 visa petition returned to USCIS by consulate
    Hello,

I have a much different story and advice. As you may have picked up on, USCIS moves at a snails pace at times. My wife's first petition was sent back as well after her interview. This was upsetting for her as she thought she did something wrong.  So I followed the advice on here and withdrew the petition and engaged a lawyer and submitted a new petition. I also engaged my Senator who happened to be the chair of the foreign affairs committee for advice and a letter to bolster my new petition. After about 6 months, I received a call from USCIS asking why I had two approved petitions. What had happened was that my original petition was reaffirmed and my new petition was also approved, but at that moment, they saw my letter to withdraw the original case. So confused, they asked for an explanation. At some point in the call, a supervisor jumped on the call and explained they reaffirmed the original petition and apologized for the embassy denying after the interview. So stay positive as some petitions are reaffirmed but it is important to know the reasoning if you can even find out. I highly suggest you involved a senator or your US representative to see if they can inquire as to the condition of your case. I honestly think some petitions are denied because the interviewer had a bad day. That may not be the case here, but knowing the reason helps you avoid it if you resubmit a K1 or try and save this case. A CR1 is not a guarantee either as the reason for the K1 denial could also derail that.  Good luck and be patient.

    1. The USPS often does NOT forward official government mail (such as mail from USCIS), so that's probably why it didn't get forwarded from your old address.

    2. When did you update your address? My wife updated her address about a week before she was approved for her green card, but the GC went to our "old" address. Thankfully it was 2 days before our actual move, so she received her green card. Point being USCIS seems to be a bit slow in updating its records. Sounds like that's what happened for you unfortunately.

    3. Don't waste your time calling USCIS. Make an infopass appointment. It will be more useful, I promise.

My wife just received her Work authorization and Advanced Parole Combo card last Friday. There was a delay because we missed two biometics appointments due to work travel and holiday travel. Was able to reschedule. Once we made her 3rd appointment, the combo card arrived in a week. Now we are waiting for the interview to be scheduled.

I second the advice to call and speak with a tier 2 officer. Most have been very helpful and can look further into the case. First level agents only seem to have information you can see from the USCIS website.

Filed for Adjustment of status on 9/1/17
    Approval 11/27/17
    Card Arrived 01/26/18

I wholeheartedly disagree with sit and expire. I'm not letting it sit.
No one said IMBRA waiver. It said IMBRA review. As part of the process I've already passed an IMBRA check and background check.
    I've decided against a CR-1.
I've spoken with USCIS and the status is still active.
I'm seriously looking at an attorney.
This whole mentality of it is just this way is infuriating. We have let the government get to damn big and too damn comfortable. Government should exist to serve me not the other way around.
And we wonder why we have an illegal immigration problem. Legal filers are burdened.

shoeman009 got a reaction from ZoeUK1989 in New medical exam requirement
    Good morning.

Got a bit of a surprise when my fiancé scheduled her medical exam. On our first go around her exam was the day before her interview. This time they are saying 4 days to as much as a week before. Seems as though the state department has added a gonorrhea test that adds time because of the results.  Try as I may with the hospital to limit the time from test to results my fiancé still has to spend almost 6 days between exam and interview but this includes the weekend.  Luckily she is going to visit family and friends close to Bangkok.

Anyone else get this surprise ? Also prices are way up from packet 4 instructions. Maybe if you didn't know how it was before it wouldn't matter. Seems as though this will cause burdens for long distance interviewees.

Just a heads up for future interview candidates.
