  1. Our timelines are similar. Nth in mail yet for my husbands EAD/AP. Has your case been sent to your local office or did it stay at NBC?

It's great to see so much action for March filers.

my EAD and AP approval came from the NBC, no idea if my AOS is send to the local office or not, I guess I would have to call to ask them that since we (or at least I) are being kept in the dark. No updates or notifications unless in the mail as surprises

  2. Case tracker still not updated since March 15th though hope everyone else gets approved soon I will now be checking the mail every hour instead of the online tracker >.<

My case online still didn't change a thing, but got approval in the mail. It's annoying tho, you have still no idea when to expect the actual card (don't you have to wait for the actual card before you start working???)

It still says "case received" I don't trust the online updates anymor (ok I never did trust them... always checked mail every morning)

  3. haha, yea this happened to me, even someone convinced my husbands parents that I just marry for a greencard. Joke is on them, if my husband wasn't in the military he would have come to the Netherlands because he liked it more.

How I deal with it. I just ignored their ignorance =) act like they said nothing because I know this marriage is real.

We also had people say that we were too young to marry, or don't know eachother long enough (haven't been together for long... well that's hard when you live so far away! can't just come over you know).

But ye, we just ignore it all, live our life and proof them wrong

I have to add that my husbands parents came to america from brasil. My husband is born in america, and I am from the Netherlands. I am sure that people would talk about him being the one getting the greencard, and me being the USC, because I am the white one.

Other than his family and friends, who know that I'm from the Netherlands. People look weird at me when I mention that I cannot work yet, or drive yet. They have no clue that I am an immigrant, so weird.

I really am waiting for someone to screw up and say a nasty comment to my husband about marrying for a greencard (knowing that he's actually the USC). So far we are happily married, and I hope we will get stationed in europe one day of our military life, because I miss it already...

  5. I doubt they make any notes....I had called them thrice previously for an issue with my case had to explain them each time...if and only if they made notes our lives would be easier...I don't know what the heck is the issue with that status thing..

That's the thing. I called once to see if there was a chance to make things go faster.

The seconde time that I called, to ask about either sending papers in now, or wait for RFE, she said "I see you called before about..." and she actually said what I called about. So I assume they do put notes in the system? That's why I am worried, but don't want to call again, because what if they make notes about you calling, get annoyed because you call too much and put your stuff on hold to "pay back" or something...

  6. With all the people getting things now without any updates online, I really feel the urge to call uscis to ask where my case is at. I am worried that I screwed things up when I called to ask if I should wait for an RFE or if I can send in a changed affidavit of support. Scared they made a note and they are waiting for the changed affidavit of support, while I desided to wait for an RFE. I really have no clue what to expect anymore since I tought they would not care for such call and keep going on with the process no matter what.

  7. Hi all,

I had my biometrics appt April 22nd but I haven't heard anything since - is this normal or looking like bad news (RFE?) - The only thing they might send an RFE for is.. basically London messed up my medical and didn't notice that I had two shot books so in the results they listed that I had only one MMR jab done when in fact I have had both. I sent off the results anyway in hopes that they'd accept the "one" shot.. but I have my medical book prepared to argue that I shouldn't have to pay $600 to get a new medical done when the fault wasn't mine - I gave the doctors all of my medical books to review.

Anyway - yes, I haven't heard anything since my bio and my status update is still showing that they received my cases March 25th & 29th.

Also, can I apply for my SSN whenever? I was told that I couldn't apply until I have my EAD which seems a bit silly?

I don't have any changes either, and I have had my biometrics etc earlier than you. Don't worry, they will get to you!

And you can apply for SSN before EAD, as long as your I-94 isn't expired yet. I applied about 2 weeks after entering, and changed my name with my marriage certificate after. Once your I-94 expires, you will have to wait before the EAD (since you technically are overstaying at that moment)

  8. Same, you sure feel tricked with false updates...

I have 2 alerts tho, uscis account and the app...

Next to that i keep checking the uscis website (never kno when the alerts send!)

And the mailbox (maybe they forget to update the status? Haha)

And this forum with the timelines to see others...

Am i a bit paranoia? Maybe....

Will it make the case go faster? Nope

Will it give me more stress? Definately

I just don't know how to chill... its getting out of hand ><

But the walls are closing in on me!

  9. I am soo impatient too.

Checked some timeline stats for the San Francisco local office and it seems like they are suuuuuper slow with everything. Great news :/

Just hoping the EAD goes quick now, I just wanna get a job and earn money....

At least it's easy to find timelines for you, i'm sure there's plenty more than in providence, RI.

It's not even on this website in the processing times schedule haha ><

But on the USCIS website it says they are at august last year, but really I have no clue what to expect at all!!

  10. I made an account with USCIS and activated both email and text. I know a lot of people go with the apps to get account updates, however, with the USCIS account I actually got the notifications of status change about 8 hours before my app notified me about them. Definitely recommend signing up with an account for USCIS.

same here, I have them both, uscis website and the app... yet I still check the mailbox and the website 24/7, I really should stop since it's driving me crazy haha

  11. So I went to the SSN office today (with my GC) to have my last name changed on my SSN card from maiden to married and they said their systems are not cooperating with USCIS systems. They gave me a letter of confirmation and said it might take up like 4 weeks. When I called USCIS to ask what's going on they referred me to the local office to make an infopass apt (but it was closed today anyway).

Anyone had similar experience with changing name on SSN recently / know what is going on?

I have changed my last name with my marriage certificate and that's it. So it would be weird that even with a greencard they cannot change your name. They litterally just go in the system and change the name... it's really easy >< But I guess I just got lucky I only needed my marriage certificate. Hope you can get it all sorted out!

  12. Anyone else gotten an RFE yet? Feeling like I'm the only one of this bunch :(

Nope, still nothing, nothing at all.. NOS1 03/18, biometrics done... and silence, plain silence ><

And I am pretty sure I will get an RFE for the affidavit (as I said somewere before), I wish I had it already... The waiting is driving me crazy

But I desided that the greencard can take a while, I am training and working on myself right now, just want that work permit to get some money to pay back the wedding rings and buy my dress!!! (since we have the big ceremony in a year, I want it big, and saving isn't easy when in a k1+greencard process haha)

    Just

waiting.... and waiting... and just waiting a little more...

  13. I am wondering if someone has any idea, if there's an RFE how long it would take until you hear something about it (this would be the affidavit of support) I forgot to send a picture of the biopage of the passport of my husband. I do expect an RFE for that, but not sure since it's kind of obvious that my husband that sponsors me is a usc (because otherwise I wouldnt even been able to apply for it lol). But then again, it's uscis, so I bet I will get an RFE

  14. After reading what people answer here, instead of answering the question...

    Before you judge:

    Where you there?

Do you know what actually happened?

Do you know who reported it and got her arrested?

Do you know how the OP and his wife feel and live?

I think you guys cant judge on what has been happening, it might have been something small and easy to work out...

This is his job to figure out what he wants, he just asked some advise..

I dont know what to do but im sorry, i had to say something about all the stuck up people that are ready to judge others lives

  15. Why are you not ready to speak to a recruiter yet? If you do so it doesn't mean you are joining right away. I have spoken to an airforce recruiter before about options and changed my mind, now i am in contact with a navy recruiter. They can help you out with a lot of information also because they have experience with all these kind of things. Just walk in there and ask your questions, i am sure they can give you the best answers.

I will have to join the moment i have my greencard since thats the requirement in the navy, of how long your greencard is valid. But the recruiter here is really helping me out a lot :)
