How do I get through to a Level 2/ISO on the phone? The guy I spoke to today said that there was no-one available by phone who could tell me more than the online case status, which is obviously wrong given what I've seen here.
I posted a while ago, I had the exact same thing as you had. She told me that a tier 2 couldn't provide me with any more information (she told me I had to wait 6 months before hearing anything about AOS)
So I insisted to speak with a tier 2 officer (so they HAVE TO put you through to them, if she keeps saying, keep insisting you have the right to speak to a tier 2 officer)
And guess what, the tier 2 officer told me I was approved... so it went down from "wait 6 months" to "approved". The tier 2 officers can mostlikely tell you more, locate your files and tell you what's up. (maybe your online status is up to date and they cannot add anything new, offcourse this is possible)
and @Heather&Kevin: FINALLY! the card being mailed, about darn time!!!

Hi,
Same thing here, I got approved on May 11th, I received my welcome letter however I didn't receive my green card. I called and they said I have to wait because it's not even produced. I don't know what happen with these guys, why some people get it in few days and others not.
Are you still waiting for your card?
Yup it has been weeks and I am still waiting, I will call them again tomorrow (every single week is what I asked the tier 2 on the phone and she agreed to it)
Tomorrow I am going to ask WHAT is holding up my greencard since I have seen other people that got an approved later than I did having their greencard already and I am really eager to do something.
I mean, what can possibly hold up MY greencard and not OTHERS? isn't it the same process of producing greencards? I really do not understand it. (btw with MY I mean also everybody else that's waiting... it's so weird!)
Same with people waiting for EAD since end of april, yet people with aprovals in may already have their card, like... what? how? it blows my mind
-
So my ROC will also earlier than 2 years? Or just naturalization earlier? Do you maybe have an estimated timeline of what to expect? (I do understand it will be just estimated and i expect it to be completely different in every case)
-
I have been going through this topic but I haven't really found an answer to a question I have. Maybe I am reading over it without noticing but I desided to open a new topic.
I am still waiting on my greencard as of now, but have the approval in hand.
The moment I receive my conditional greencard I will be joining the Navy (active duty) (I have already seen a recruiter and he is also waiting for me to walk in with that big smile and greencard in my hand!)
I have been wanting to join the military for a long time so I am really at the tip of my chair waiting to run to sign up haha.
Anyways, my question is:
Once I join with my conditional greencard how will it go with the Roc and Naturalization?
Will the naturalization happen before I even do my ROC and therefor don't need it anymore. Or do I still have to gather all the evidence my husband and I have for the ROC?
I am asking this right now because I want to organize everything before I throw myself in there, I have a lot to plan (greencard stuff, the marriage celebration after training etc etc.) so I want to know what I am up to.
Everything is just really not clear about my case of ROC and Nuturalization.
I hope anybody can explain something to me, or help me out with their own experiences. I would love to ask my recruiter this question, but as we all know, they always sugarcoat everything to make you join, eventhough I will still join with the hard truth. I just need to know what to expect once I am there, so I am well prepared!
Thank you in advance for the answers =)

I received my EAD last Saturday! YAY
Ready to go to work, but unfortunately I haven't had much luck with applications yet.....
Really wish you the best of luck with your coming applications!
As me, still waiting for my greencard, 2 weeks now since I got approved... People that got approval after me have their greencard, and here I am... still sitting at home, won't get the EAD no more, if only they would hurry up with my card!!! Then I can finally start applying for a job! (eventho I have like 90% chance I already have one waiting for me haha, connections yey! Talking of which JudithF, doesn't your husband have any connections to hook you up with a job?)
-
I got approved the 16th, online change the May 20... and still no greencard, not even mailed, not even produced... while others with a later approval already get their cards, you never know when to get things
-
Once you apply for the AOS you can also file the EAD and AP with it. The EAD you will get most of the time in less than 3 months. So if you would apply now, get the baby in about a month, spend some time with the baby and once you are ready to work, you will mostlikely be allowed to work as well due to EAD. This way you can make some extra money. I think that will be more worth it than saving the money right now to be honest, even if it is just a small at home job, or a parttime job, you will get that money back in no-time instead of waiting...
Just get some used things, ask around in family if they can help you with some used things etc.
-
Thats crazy I just check your timeline and u have been approved before me and your EAD/AP its approved 20 days ago !
Yes it is crazy! I am happy for you tho, and everybody I see left and right receiving cards... >< I was just soooo hopeful to finally start living this is hell (I even messaged my recruiter "see you soon!!!" apparently not that soon
)
I don't expect my EAD/AP since I can't use them anyways now, it's just so... unreal >< I can't complain tho, I expected the greencard in september, I just hope they weren't like:
"ok we approve this one so we can get those papers out of the way" *throws in the trash instead of sending it to production* ya kno... ><
-
. My changed from approved to card mailed to USPS picked up your card with tracking number ! I just got my GC this morning !
whuttt wow, I guess I am just really unlucky... again, just like EAD/AP which I gave up on since my GC approval >< im preparing for a long wait with many calls
-
Expecting My GC today !! Happy
You got approved 2 days after me, did your online status actually change to production/mailed/etc???
I am so worried now, yesterday they told me there's complications with card production and they have no clue when to expect the card! This makes no sense lol
-
Im in the same boat with you guys...At the interview the lady told me I should have the card within 10 days, then that letter came in stating it's gonna be 3 weeks, now they are saying 60 days, it just doesn't make any sense, I suppose they are THAT busy with the green card mass production haha, I just hope we all get it soon. I wanna visit my family back home this summer and I haven't applied for advanced parole either, so it better hurry up and get here haha.
I DID apply for AP, and EAD... they got approved a while back, never got the card, and am not expecting them since the greencard got approved a week ago...
Guy told me to call in a week to ask the tracking number "your card isnt being produced yet because there are issues producing the cards" HURRAY
So im allowed to work for a long while now... But I got no cards! Its so frustrating!
But i asked the officer if it bothers them if i call every week n her answer is "not at all!"
so I know what ill be doing every wednesday
And I am sooooo ready to join the military but i need that card in my hands!!!!

Did you receive a Notice of Potential Interview Waiver letter? If so, your case is still at the National Benefits Center. We got the waiver letter in September, and that's where ours has been since June of 2015.
They are certainly taking their sweet time! We had to send in applications to renew my husband's employment authorization and advance parole.
Wow that is reallll long!!! Have you called them to see whats holding you up?? Seems so unreal to me, almost a year with a waiver and all
-
What I am thinking... I am no expert tho...
If you apply for a greencard through marriage, you sometimes get an interview to see if the marriage is real...
Since you wont be married for 2 years, you will get a conditional greencard.
Meaning you have to apply for ROC within 2 years, proving you have a real marriage.
I hear some people have a hard time having to send more proof etc of a legit marriage.
So the question is: how do you want to proof them that you came to america to be with the person you love/married, if that person isnt in america the entire 2 years?
-
Thank you for this information:
1. What number did you call? and how did you get the extension to get to an actual person rather than robot
2. Surely by now you're overstaying your K1 visa? My i-94 and my K1 visa have expired by now as it has been WAY over 90 days since I entered the country.. Therefore, surely it would be illegal to work without your EAD and green card? but it would be good to have the approval notice to take in with you. I made the mistake of waiting too long to get my social security number so now I have to wait to get my EAD before I can apply for my SSN.
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THATS TRUE?? CAN I APPLY FOR MY SSN EVEN THOUGH I AM TECHNICALLY OVERSTAYING WHILST WAITING FOR MY GREENCARD?
1. 8003755283, I chose english, hear about status, I think thats number 2... then the robot reads all it to you and then u say report a problem, u wait get someone that can only tell you what you can find online yourself so you ask for tier 2...
2. Right now I am a permanent resident since my greencard is approved, I am not overstaying anymore (I also have the approval notice in my hands, just not the actual card). The card itself is just proof that I am a permanent resident, in the system I already am a resident. Ofcourse even without overstaying I-94 without the EAD you would be working illigally while waiting. And if you are too late for a SSN you do have to wait until you get approved for either EAD or GC.

So, I have another update, that might help some others out as well....
As you all might still remember... a week ago I called USCIS and asked for a tier 2 officer to see where my case was at, he told me it was approved and also told me if I didn't receive a tracking number I would have to call back within a week (so that will be today).
So I called today, told them I called a week ago and had to call today and ask for a tier 2 officer, got put through without a problem...
The officer was a nice lady and she looked up my case information, then informed me that there's something going on with the card production atm, so my card isn't even being produced... She also had no idea about an estimate for me, but told me to keep checkign the status. I told her the internet rarely to never updates and asked if it bothered them if I would keep calling each week. No problem at all! (so everybody doubting about "bothering" them when you call them, you don't bother them at all they seem happy to help you out and they are so kind! the tier 2 officers I mean)
I also asked her "and there is no way for me to work without my card?" she told me that I am allowed to work since I am technically a legal resident. But that it's up to the company if they will hire me with just the approval notice since it's not an official card showing that I am a legal resident. So if I would start working now, without the greencard in hand, it would not be illigal to work. (I think this is only for the greencard tho, not ead and ap etc).
Maybe this helps some out, and I will keep calling them each week if they have an update on my greencard... I really wish I could have it in my hand by now =( (been 9 days since approval)

The reason that part was blank is mostlikely because it is connected to one of the final pages of additional information. Once you type it in one place, it appears in the other... yet since most dont need the additional page they delete the name there, and it gets deleted off of page 3, part 4...
Ive seen plenty of those on this forum so i think its just that
-
You can try to call and ask for a tier 2 officer saying you wonder where your case is at, ask what to expect and maybe an estimated timeline?
-
I know the feels, not waiting for my ead anymore since my greencard got approved...
But the full process has been very frustrating (k1+aos) simply because everything is completely random and out of your control... theres nothing you can do at all and calling cs is also frustrating since people just tell you what you already know and you honestly have to be plain rude to get a tier 2 that can tell u whats up lol
But thats honestly what vj is so good for... not being into this all by ourselves, we have eachother
(tho it can be also frustrating to see people get things before you and youre just like...why?! How???)
But yea we arent alone and people understand you and know whats up
-
So opinion question.....
At what point is it alright for us to start calling USCIS to try and get information out of them on the I-485?
We got the EAD/AP approval on day 46, and it arrived in the mail on day 53...now we are on day 81 and we have gotten no word on the I-485, case status still reads Fingerprint fee received. I just wonder if it is too early to start harassing USCIS just yet. What do you think?
Just do it
I called a week ago, insisted on a tier 2... he didnt seem bothered at all that i called (i said that i have plans that need a gc estimate date and just wanna know where its at, stuck at nbc, chance of rfe, waiver or not etc and that i have experience that my status doesnt update online or not in time)
If anything he even told me that if the website doesnt update in a week from now (tomorrow) than i should call them again (tier2) and ask if they can provide a tracking number...
Considering he even told me to call within a week for a tracking number im sure they dont mind you calling

I am mostly just helping my husband out, being his backbone...
Making scedules, financial plans, sorting out extra uscis stuff for in the future, worry 24/7...
We got a pet waterdragon i take care of and a free kitten from the neighbors who takes a lot of time
I knit a little bit sometimes, keep up with all kinds of series (of which most are on a break now)
I game now and then, honestly i think most of the time haha
And next to all that im practicing for the asvab (joining the navy)... eventho i scored way above average on the practice test at the recruiters office (he even said that practice test was harder than the actual one..) and i score high on the online ones... I am still worried about word knowledge, pounds, inches, farenheit.... all that makes no sense to me haha
And also training for physical
with my husband training and pushing me to my limits
Honestly, as a gamer its sad to see that i am really growing tired of games....

All of you that received update on Ead approval please was it on ur case status u got the notification or u got a mail on ur mailbox??
Both, online (about week later than in the mail) and in the mail for EAD & AP
-
Sundays suck... it's so quiet... no mail... no nothing.
*crickets*
try having a reptile as pet, I have cricket noise all day every day
I do miss the hopeful trips to the mailbox tho

Thank you SanneW
I am waiting for approval, I got a notification that my case was transferred to the Tucson office and I called about that, they said the Memphis office is backlog that's why they did it; to "expedite" my case and at that office they are actually working in late august 2015 cases ?
I would say (but im not sure honestly) you might just slip through and have an interview waiver and get lucky... Just don't lose hope =) there's a chance

Hi.
I tried to use that site but I get this message:
"No cases found that match the search criteria" I am using my Alien number and birth date. Please let me know how it works, ?? I called uscis 2 days ago and the agent asked me to not to wait for a green card in the next 7-8months. Not sure if it was just to get ride of me lol or if that is true.
Thanks in advance.
Anna
Did you get approved yet and you are waiting for the actual card? Or waiting for the approval?
In the case of waiting for an approval, that's what all tier 1 would say. They can't see as much as you can. When I called the tier 1 told me I would have to wait at least 6 weeks, according to my local office.
BUT I insisted on getting put through to a tier 2, eventho she said the tier 2 will tell me the same.
Joke's on her, he said my card was approved 2 days ago...
The tier 1 will never be able to tell you more, than you already know (unless you have no receipt number to track it yourself). So the answer will always be "6 months" or something like that. While a tier 2 officer can check where the case is exactly at, and sometimes they can even tell you if you have a waiver or not etc. (since sometimes they don't show that either)
What i'm saying is, in this case, you just got a standard answer, that doesn't get you anywere further...
