    Hello everyone,

I am here to share the good news. My husband's visa got issued today exactly 17 months after his interview date.
I hope this journey ends for everyone who is waiting. This waiting journey was really frustrating and emotionally draining for me, and I am sure it is the same for everyone who is going through this. But thank God, it came to an end.
I am on cloud 9 today. I am very grateful and thankful for this day. I hope everyone waiting gets to see this day soon.

    Thanks

    Good evening everyone,
So I haven't given any updates recently, not since news of my husband's (Moroccan citizen) IR1 visa approval. He moved here from Spain December 19th, so we were able to spend the holidays with family. We waited , wrote and called regarding his social security card (and green card), as he wanted to start working asap, but didn't that didn't get us anywhere. We had been told that the social security card would arrive about 3 weeks after his entry into the US, so after 3 weeks, he went to the SS Card office with his passport, where the agent was able to see his immigration info, and told him - no, Homeland Security had NOT requested a social security number for him (as we had requested on the visa application about TWO YEARS AGO)... you can imagine our reaction. So the agent filed for him. At any rate, about a week or so later, we received both the green card and the social security card in the regular mail.
Anyway, just to remind you that DS5535 "victims" do get approved, get their green cards and all... Be patient - we started our process in spring of 2016, DS5535 AP from Jan 18 to Aug 18... good luck to you all!

Both my husband and myself got an email from the Embassy today requesting another personal interview, but this time they are requesting me to be there with him. I tried to go with him inside the embassy for his initial interview but was told that only he can go in. Good thing I have plans to be with him in February.....I hope this is a good sign

Anyone has an update on his/her case from Islamabad Embassy? I am in AP since 21 months and 4 days by today, I received an email 9 months ago to send us proof for on going relationship with your wife which I submitted very next day, afterwards they emailed me back to the same day and requested for updated documents (  e.g : new medical, resubmit DS 260, latest  year tax return from joint sponsor  and make an appointment to take oath and finger prints in the Embassy) to process your immigrant  visa application.

At the second interview day, CO was very nice towards me, she apologized at start and said I am sorry it took a lot for us to process your visa, while taking oath, she finds out something in her system, she said please take a seat , I call u in a bit again , she called me again after 20 minutes, took finger prints and  said please take a seat again , meanwhile she was discussing something about my case with her colleagues , she called me again after few minutes and she is like  I wasn't able to print your visa. She said I am sorry  I can't print your visa,  there is a problem with your finger prints and I will speak with my colleagues  in Washington to fix this issue. She kept my passport and hold her hands in my file and said dont worry everything is in good order, my second medical was expired 3 months ago,

I don't know why they are taking so long even though I been in United States back 2014.I see people with good travel history and science backgrounds ( lets say : engineers, doctors, physics scientist, mathematician and so on  ) they do stuck for very long time in AP like me. People who does not have any travel history and not well qualified they get visa very fast right after an interview. Its completely unfair,
One of my cousin , he wasn't able to finish even high school, he didnt have any travel history , even though he doesn't know how to speak basic English , he got visa same day from Islamabad embassy,

one of my second cousin she got her visa with in a week after her an interview, her visa was issued 4 weeks ago,

Idk wht they torture people for nothing, they just choose random people and make them hold without any reason. Worst thing is, they don't tell u y r u in AP?  Very disappointed ,

The embassy will contact you to send them an updated medical and maybe financial documents again when they are about to issue the visa. That is always a good sign so don't get a medical until they ask you to do it again.

Don't get the medical just notify the embassy it is expiring.   Not sure if it is help but worth a try to get the ball rolling.

Yes there are quite a few of us who have finished the AP and gotten visas. I know this thread is soooooo long but all that convo has happened here in previous pages. I agree that this endeavor is most likely (purposely) understaffed and things probably get more complicated when more countries and less efficient ones are involved.
Look back a bit in the thread for the link for the spreadsheet of people's data.
    (Which needs to be updated)
Best of luck to those waiting. I'm not going to lie and say that it will happen soon. It will probably not happen for several months, though it might be shorter for some countries,  and yes, though your government representatives definitely need to know, they can't seem to speed things up for most cases.

Ugh I'm sorry you guys are still waiting. I'm recalling our first conversations about a year ago ... I think you shouldn't be too far behind us.
Are you making a trip over this winter? Good excuse to go to sunny Spain. That's what I did this summer, and we got the call just before I  went back to the US. That airport goodbye was one of the happiest ones since we knew it would be our last, inshallah! !
He will arrive in about a month after packing up and closing down our business.

    Keep us posted! 😚
