Apply For U.S. Citizenship While Your I-751 Is Pending (cummingslawpractice.com)
"
Suppose you have submitted Form I-751 with the USCIS, you have yet to receive approval of the application, and you are still waiting on your physical 10-year green card. In that case, you may still be eligible to pursue the Naturalization process by submitting Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, even while your I-751 application is still undergoing processing.
However, it is essential to remember that the USCIS will not approve your Form N-400 without first approving your Form I-751."
All good! I sent the combo interview request so I guess all I can do now is hope they see it and it’s dealt with accordingly..

Mine might be an edge case but my N-400 was approved and I naturalized without an approved I-751. Never had the combo interview and my I-751 is still pending...
That’s great!!
I sent the letter just in case but good to know this could also be a possibility.

You can upload a letter to request a combo interview if you want. Some of us have done that with positive results. In my case, our local office informed me only 2 days before wife's N-400 interview that it would be a combo. Good luck.
Thanks! What about any additional evidence? Anything else I need to bring? -
N-400 Interview with I-751 still pending
Hello
Was wondering if anyone would be able to provide clarity/tips for me. Applied for N-400 on the 3 year marriage rule.
Timeline
I-751 Filed February 2023
Case was updated two weeks later stating they are able to reuse my Biometrics and this was applied to the case. Case has been pending with no new updates since then.
N-400 Filed January 2024.
Received an update this week that my interview was scheduled but my notice is only in relation to the N-400. My wife will be coming with me to the appointment. My questions are
1. Do I need to mention at the beginning of the interview that my I-751 is still pending? A user on Reddit suggested I contact them now. How would I go about doing that?2. Do I need to bring additional documentation? I will be bringing tax transcripts for the last 3 years. I also added all updated things related to my marriage in the N-400 application (Bank statements, leases, car insurance, Health insurance with both our names on it)
Thanks in advance! -

Not unusual. I didn't get an update on my EAD case after biometrics until I had my green card in-hand for over a month.
But is your status 'ready to be scheduled for an interview' or more like 'interview has been scheduled'?
If it's the former, expect a long wait where you may indeed yet get an EAD/AP update before it changes to 'interview has been scheduled'. This status just means you're in the queue at your local office and you don't actually have an interview yet.
If it's the 'interview has been scheduled' status, congrats, you have a very speedy local field office
Ahhh this clears it up for me!
It does indeed say case is ready to be scheduled for an interview. I won’t need to mailbox watch for the time being then

Morning everyone
I had an appointment to give my biometrics on Monday. I had assumed that the next step in the process was receiving an update about my EAD but I received a case status update last night telling me that I’m going to be scheduled for an interview.
Does this happen often? I’m really eager to start working here but I’d just appreciate some clarification.
Thanks!

Like the above poster indicated it looks like it wasn't completely signed.
You stated
- A lot of the additional evidence they are requesting was already lodged but was mostly provided with the I-944. Could this be part of the problem?
I will assume you did not submit this info with the I864 then, correct? You should have treated the I864 as a completely different application. Submit the documents required/needed for the I864 and then the documents required/needed for the I-944. If you did not do this; this could be part of the reason for the RFE.
Your RFE looks like an easy fix; Do you have a copy of the I-864? (If not- in the future make a second copy of ALL immigration docs) make sure you resubmit it signed and completely filled out and the most recent edition. Submit the financial documents requested in the letter. It is up to the CO to look at the totality of your circumstances to make a decision if you will become a public charge, but my opinion, not that it matters, is that your wife makes enough and has enough banked.
If you clarify that you did NOT submit the documents specifically with the I-864 then I really think this RFE is due to that.
Hi Luckycuds,
Thanks for your thorough reply! You’re absolutely correct in the fact that the majority of the evidence was indeed sent with the I-944. We sent it all with that based on the fact that we didn’t want to double print the same documents, but from your perspective that it should be treated as a separate application I can totally see why we received it!

Morning everyone,
My wife and I recently submitted our I-485 with all the relevant forms including the I-944 with all the appropriate evidence.
We received a request for initial evidence this morning (attached) stating that they needed more evidence surrounding my wife's income. This has been a little bit confusing to me because we had no issues whatsoever through the K-1 Process. For reference, we submitted her tax returns and pay stubs with the I-485, as well as her bank statements that show she has over $30,000 saved.
I have a few questions if people who are in similar situations would be able to answer:
- We're currently living with my wife's parents and sister due to me rushing over in the middle of the pandemic and me not currently working. We listed our household size as 2 on the I-864 as my wife is only financially supporting me. Everyone else in the house is self-dependant. Is that correct?
- Based on the federal poverty guidelines of $21,550 for a household of 2, my wife makes in excess of $42,000 a year after tax. From others experiences, is this sufficient?
- A lot of the additional evidence they are requesting was already lodged but was mostly provided with the I-944. Could this be part of the problem?
Looking forward to hearing from you all! :)
I'm attaching the first page of the document for further reference

You need 6 months remaining on your passport to travel. I'd look into getting it renewed now as it's easier in your country then from the US.
My passport isn’t due to expire for another 3 years it’s the actual k-1 visa that’s due to expire at the end of next month

Hi! I am in a similar situation, I bought my ticket for the first of May, and I’m going to travel to the US from Germany. I have been thinking about texting the consulate, because I am also worried that I might not be able to enter the country due to the corona crisis. Have you or someone else on here thought about texting the consulate or USCIS?
I sent an e-mail to the consulate yesterday via their contact form. I’ll update as soon as I hear back!

Hi all,
I’m flying out to the Us on my k-1 Visa next month from the UK.
My visa is due to expire at the end of April. Does anyone know if travel is restricted due to the Coronavirus outbreak if that could be extended in special circumstances?
Thanks

Once the visa is issued, you will have 6 months from the date of your medical exam to enter the US......
Thanks for clearing that up!

My petition has been received by the embassy but I have a question about the 6 month validity period. Does the 6 month period to enter the US begin from the issuance of the visa itself or is it a different date? Thanks in advance!

It's definitely a good day of sport! Shame there's no Wales in the final!

Hi all,
I'm just looking for some peace of mind as I've managed to get myself worked up lol.
I recently spent 3 and a half months in the US on a J Visa from the 1st of June to the 15th of September. While working in the US, I met a girl and we're now in a relationship.
I'm heading out to see her for 6 days next week and I just want to confirm that everything should go okay? I have a job that are willing to provide an official document stating that I intend to return to work as well as my flight itinerary and proof that I've been employed by the same company for nearly 5 years.
P.S Will this and another short term visit impact my chances of obtaining another J visa for next June?
Thanks in advance,
Mat
