To report back: I had my combo interview on July 11th at the Washington DC field office. First of, I thought my interview was at 9:30, and I was late and arrived at 9:40.. Once I got there, I found out that my interview was actually at 9:20 and I missed the call. I was told to wait some more, and they would try to fit me in. When it was finally my turn again (at around 11am), the officer said they had to do I-751 and N-400 separately, and I wouldn't know if I could have my N400 interview until I was approved for i-751 by the first interviewer... Well this was different than what I read here from others' combo interview experiences. Anyways, it's fine.. So we started and she asked the standard questions from the i-751 application form. I didn't bring any supporting materials as the N-400 interview notification didn't ask for anything other than my husband and my passports/IDs. But since I just got back from a trip the day before the interview, I was a bit of a mess that day.. I brought my old expired passport, instead of the new one (so she asked for my driver's license instead). I also told her the wrong year for the date of our marriage (I said 2016, while it should be 2015... 2016 is the year that GC was issued). It also turned out that in the application form, I mistakenly signed in the place where the petitioner (my husband) should have signed... The interviewer had a serious face, didn't smile much, but she didn't make a fuss about it and just told my husband to sign at the right place on the application form, which was very nice of her. The interviewer also asked us if we brought any new evidence. In response, I told her that we purchased a new house together, but we hadn't received the deed in the mail yet, so all we had was some mortgage document... We also had joint tax returns from the last year -- I told her that they should be within the N-400 application; For the newest 2018 joint tax returns, it was in my dropbox and I didn't have it printed out... She said she would check the N-400 application for the tax return, and that's it. At the end of the interview, we were told to wait in the waiting room for the decision to be made. my husband asked me why I said we married in 2016, instead of 2015. Only then I realized that I gave the wrong answer and started panicking... After 10 min or so, the officer came back out and told us that I was approved. I told her that I accidentally told her the wrong year of our marriage, and she laughed and said it was ok. Afterwards we went back to wait for another 10 min, a different officer called my name, who was a super cheerful lady. She told my husband to go grab lunch while I had my N400 interview. That interview was pleasant and I was approved on the spot within 10 min. And that completes my journey here! Sorry about the long story -- I had a potato brain that day and it still went through smoothly! I thought I should share. Thanks and good luck!

Hopefully everything move smooth. Will update you once I finish it. Did you hear anything about I-751?
Thanks! Nothing on i751. When’s your interview? Good luck!

hello, I got a notice of interview but it's only mentions-400 nothing regarding I-751. How could I know if that Combo or not???? I heard about some cases after people went to the interview they couldn't make it because the USCIS didn't know about their pending I-751 or they don't have the file.
I am in the same boat, and I'm with DC field office too! My N400 interview is just scheduled on July 11th, 2019. Please keep me updated how it goes for ya!
Thanks and good luck!

Finally an update for me after receiving numerous "we are still reviewing your case and there is no update" emails. Still no news on GC, but the DC field office scheduled an interview for N-400 on July 11th. No idea if it is combo or not. 🤷♀️ 🤷♀️ 🤷♀️

Just a quick update.
Tuesday was the N-400 interview. Everything went very smoothly; despite some last minute intense anxiety. It ended up being a combo interview for the removal of conditions and application for citizenship. Everything was approved and the officer scheduled the oath ceremony for May 23rd, since my spouse and I are moving out of state at the end of June.
Prior to this, the last update on the I-751 was that it had been transferred to the NBC. The citizenship interview was scheduled with no indication as to if it would be a combo interview or not. The officer that conducted the interview stated that he was given the file at the last minute because the officer that was going to do the interview, was not able to do so for both the I-751 and the N-400. It is my understanding that the I-751 must be processed first, and so that is what triggered a joint interview for both applications even though they never updated the removal of conditions status.
Congrats! Buffalo would be my field office too if I haven't moved to Virginia. Would you mind sharing with us when you applied for i751 and n400 respectively? Thanks and congrats again!

We didn't apply for N400.
Hmmm I am looking at Vermont Service Center mostly.. but maybe you will have some good news soon!

It is pretty clear from the table that people applied for N400 are the ones being left behind... Others with RFE have received RFE, replied to RFE, and got approved for GC while my case still says fingerprints taken... disappointed +1 here.

HI everyone, just an update. I applied for N-400 back in November/2018. My I-751 moved offices, and today my N-400 interview was scheduled.
Chicago office.Regards,
Congratulations! When did your i-751 get transferred? Was it right after your N400 application? Thanks!
I feel that N-400 application is definitely slowing i-751 down, at least for some states.

I start to think N400 application is slowing my i751 down... 😔😞😖

Question for the lucky Jan 2018 filers who got approved from VSC: do you see people near your receipt number getting approved as well (from the tracking app) or are you among a big group of “fingerprints are complete” cases?
Thanks!

Yes. Normal.
Interviews are a last resort if they cannot approve the petition (even after an RFE). They try to approve them without an interview unless they feel more information/explanations are needed.
Thanks!

Is it normal that nobody is interviewed in this thread for removal of conditions? Or did I miss those posts? Anybody knows how it is in the past? Thanks!

Got a notification saying that my case was transferred to my local field office today (updated address a month ago, N400 fingerprints on Feb 15th, EAC180835xxxx)

My case hasn't been transferred. So I assume they are approving cases randomly as well. I have a friend who is an August 2017 filer, and she hasn't seen any movement yet! She is also a Vermont filer.
OMG what the hell has VSC been doing these months?! I was looking at the processing time for i751 -- for at least a month now it still says Oct 13th, 2017, while CSC has moved from being slower than VSC to one month ahead of it!

At least you're seeing something around your numbers lol... Mine is EAC1807751XXX and I am not seeing anything near me yet for I-751 decisions...
Don't panic! I read it wrong.. I didn't filter to display i751 cases only. There is no action on any case around mine either now lol.

Okay, so I tried doing this. Like I keep reading on here about. Checking numbers before and after ours. We are WAC 180805XXXX. I have tried numbers before and after ours and they are all "We approved your Form I-129, Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker". Legit every one before and after our number is "petition for nonimmigrant worker". So I am so confused. Should I be worried about this? Our case hasn't updated since "received on January 25 2018".
I just realized that I read it wrong.. You need to do the filter for I-751 only. Now there is absolutely no action beyond biometrics for anyone before and after my number.
After you put in the receipt number and the number of cases to be searched, you will see the results of all cases around you. Then you need to go to the bottom right corner of the app and swipe to i-751 only.

rochestergrad - You would be wasting your time trying to figure out how they do their job. The only certainty is that nothing is logical with USCIS when it comes to case processing.
Another certainty is that they will take your money real fast then keep you waiting without much to say about it.
lol thanks. Here's to some pessimism and unfortunate truth.

Nothing promising to report, but just to add one more EAC experience: my number starts with EAC18067**** and there has not been any movement on it since April 2018 when apparently my file was received at my "local office." I have no idea where that actually is, but apparently not MY town where I just went for a citizenship interview ten days ago (I applied online in early September, as I was eligible in terms of timeline).
The interviewing officer told me he can't make a decision on the N-400 until he has reviewed and adjudicated the I-751, which he just recently requested to be sent to him! From where, he did not tell me. I had also called the national USCIS number to try to locate the file before the interview and see if the two cases have been merged yet, since I read on the dual-filers thread here that what ultimately happened to me is a common occurrence and was trying to be proactive and "help" the authorities with the process. The two people I spoke with there also refused to tell me where the file actually is.
I found the whole mystery about the location so strange unless it is because someone made a mistake and sent my file somewhere not "local" at all.
Hi! I am Jan 2018 filer and I feel like I am in the same boat. My case status also says fingerprint was reviewed in Apr 2018 by my local office, and nothing more. I just checked the case status of receipt numbers around mine, there are a bunch of decisions made on these cases both before and after mine. I can't help noticing that you are in upstate NY too. I wonder if it has something to do with our location.
-
Hi!
I checked the receipt numbers around mine today (EAC180835XXXX) and there are a bunch of cases approved just before mine, and there are also a bunch of cases with decisions after mine. It seems like cases with decisions and without decisions are all mixed together in the timeline. Does anyone know why? My case status says fingerprint review was completed in Apr 2018 by the Albany field office, and nothing more afterwards. Does Vermont service center do the review or each individual field office does? I am so confused.
Thanks!

when i applied for the i751 i was living in Atlanta GA, moved to Michigan immediately after i filled it.
I751 application was still pending ( almost 11 months) when i applied for the N400 online.
luckily I751 was approved without an interview.
and now i am waiting for my N400 interview in Detroit.
i dont think changing address would slow down your application.
Good luck.
Thank you very much for sharing this!

Dear all,
My 90-day ahead window for N400 application is about to open, and my I-751 is still pending (filed Jan 2018 to Vermont Service Center). When I filed for I-751, I lived in upstate New York, and therefore the address we used was also in New York. However, I moved to Washington DC last summer (in July 2018) for work. My husband and I still jointly own a house in upstate New York, and at the same time we also hold a joint lease here in DC. Do you think it matters which field office I file my N400 to? Would it be a mess if my I-751 biometrics was done in Syracuse but my N400 is going to be filed in DC? Should I still use our upstate NY address for N400 filing?
Thank you very much!

I am not sure.. My husband got it in the mail when I was on a trip to California. I know it definitely arrived before Feb 3rd though, as I brought it with me on my trip on Feb 4th to Hong Kong. Also, to follow up on the topic regarding biometrics appointment: I did an early walk-in today around noon and I got it done within 10 minutes. I told the security guard at the door that I couldn't make it next week since I would be in the UK. He looked at my BIO letter and pointed me to the window for fingerprints. Now starts the long wait!

I have read that some filers have encountered this issue, and they went online and used InfoPass to make an appointment with the local service center, (where their bio appointment was scheduled to be), and with appointment letter in hand, and proof of pre-planned travel (flight conformation, with all other proper identification too) they explained their dilemma and the service center did the Biometrics on the spot, in about 10 minutes. Rather than reschedule, perhaps you can do the Biometrics early, as others have done.
Thank you! I think I will do an early walk-in tomorrow at Syracuse.

The BIO appointment letter reached us on March 7th, and the appointment is on Mar 21st. However, I will be in London on that day... Does anyone know how long it will take to reschedule?
N-400 and I-751 combo pending
in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Posted
I had my combo interview on July 11th at the Washington DC field office.
