The interview was on November 13th at which point we informed the IO of our upcoming trip and provided documentation. We asked to do the oath ceremony that same day or possibly that week, but for whatever reason our file wasn’t there—despite filing from Dallas. 
 

I don’t think just ghosting the interview is acceptable. We’re going to try to print the notice from the USCIS portal and see if we can mail it from abroad.

Pls answer my question. But to answer your question, you MUST mail the notice back to them, address it to the field office director and state the reason why you cant attend. It's not a big deal, just tell them you have a planned trip already. Keep it simple. They will give u another date. Yes you must mail it back to them or you can drive to the office and submit it in their drop box by the security check point

Yes, Dallas filer. But we’re already out of the country and only saw the document on the USCIS portal. So we don’t have the physical copy in the mail since we’re not home. 

Got scheduled for Dec 16th while we’re out of the country. It says we must return the notice and notify in writing why we cannot attend the ceremony. 
 

Does anyone have experience rescheduling their ceremony and, if so, does it have to actually be MAILED?

Edit: I only took the documents listed in the interview letter.. my permanent resident card, husband's birth certificate, daughter's birth certificate (just in case) and my passports (expired and current). The IO did not ask for anything other than my PRC and the interview letter.

Did they tell you this in person during your interview? Or did you receive an oath ceremony scheduling notification in the USCIS portal?

We brought our 2018 taxes and the IO didn't want/need those either. Our whole experience was so strange.

I'm applying as US Citizen spouse, but we can't find my spouse (US born) birth certificate. Is there any other option?

 

We brought my Certificate of Birth Abroad and the agent never even asked for it. I would assume that a US passport would work just fine, though.

My husband had his interview today and his file was not located at the Irving office either. 

The IO made me sit in the waiting room despite the fact that my husband applied for citizenship based on marriage and every other couple/family was allowed to join the applicant. So that was irritating, but I didn't argue. My husband said that the guy was still nice and asked easy questions pertaining to the 4th of July, Abraham Lincoln, how many total number of senators, etc. 

Based on that we believe he passed, but the IO did not say anything to confirm it. However, like I mentioned earlier in the thread, we are leaving the country for an extended vacation next weekend. So he asked if it was possible to do a same day oath ceremony and that's when he learned that his file wasn't even at that location. I'm not sure where it would be when we were living in Dallas when he filed his N-400 online. 

We're going to keep checking the online portal, but at this point I'm assuming he'll get scheduled for his Oath Ceremony while we're abroad. The IO told him that he's only allowed to reschedule the Oath ceremony once.

My husband has both a New Zealand and South African passport. So he’ll be fine to travel without the oath ceremony.
 

HOWEVER, you can pay for expedited passport services. I just don’t know how quickly people receive their naturalization certificate. Does it come in the mail or do you get it the day of the oath ceremony?

I was wondering the exact same thing as @Apoorva Iyer because my husband's interview is on November 13th, but we are also leaving the country on November 23rd. 

Haven't logged in here in the last six months, but we just saw a letter from USCIS appear in our USPS Daily Digest e-mail. After logging into USCIS, saw that our interview is scheduled for November 13th. Totally were not expecting any updates from the Dallas office until 2020. Fantastic news!

I posted my actual appointment earlier in the thread. Basically I completed my biometrics about two weeks prior to my scheduled date by doing an early walk-in.

Sorry for the delay. Here is the most updated chart. Copying and pasting works for updating users already listed, but is problematic for adding new filers. 

@Luis562 when did you complete your biometrics early walk-in? I'm annotating walk-ins with asterisks. Also did you change your username from Luisbs561?

@JeanF nice to see another fellow Dallas filer in here. I thought our estimated case completion date would change for the better after completing biometrics. Sadly, it still displays a ridiculous 25 month wait time. Insane. 


@GerryC327 We applied online on 3/2 and received the paper NOA1 in the mail on 3/8 (but no e-mail). So I think you're fine. Since you applied online you don't have to wait for the NOA1 or the biometrics notice to arrive in the mail. Just login to your USCIS account and they'll be located in the "Documents" tab. It takes a few days for the documents to appear after your status changes, though.

My husband did a successful early walk-in today to complete his biometrics at the Ft. Worth ASC. He said they were very friendly and he didn't even have to show his flight itinerary proving he'd be traveling during his scheduled appointment time.

Hi everyone! Received the NOA1 physical letter in the mail on Friday 3/8 (dated 3/2). Then our biometrics appointment was scheduled on March 8th, but we still don't have the actual letter with the appointment date/time uploaded in the Documents tab on the USCIS website.
