  1. No personal experience. The fact that he is from a high fraud country, widower, no previous travel coupled with the fact that you are becoming a USC therefore could "keep him" (file AOS for him while he is here), does not bode well for his application.

That said, what does he have to lose? Only the visa application fee...

I will have him permanently migrate here but the process is 12 to 24 months long. i will like to try for a B2 for him before that. Also, Can't file AOS while my father is not on the US soil. thank you for replying man.

  2. Hello all,

i have a firm belief that B2 for nationals of what US consider high fraud countries is by pure fluke. i personally know several examples of people with weak/fraudulent cases who have gotten B2 and on the other hand genuine applicants having been denied because of the standard 214B. I am looking to find here some similar cases to mine if there are any. please give it a read - i will take my oath to be naturalized as a US citizen next month on July 15. i would like my father who is a retiree and a widower to come join me here for this special day. he is a national of high fraudulent country as per USCIS. never traveled outside the country, never applied for any visa. but have had a great professional career and have plenty of fixed and liquid assets. Can someone share any successful B2 visa experience for a case like this ? thanks for reading.

  3. Hi. I came to US on a K1 visa. I married within 90 days and now I have applied for Adjustment of Status and the case is pending. After a month I came here I went to hospital due to fever in the middle of the night. I was taken to emergency. The nurse or the doctor checked me and gave me just two tablets and sent me home. A week ago I got a hefty bill of over $4000. I am now in a big problem. I want to get help to pay this off. Can I get Medi-Cal insurance to pay this bill? My wife in unemployed and I am waiting on my EAD card to start working. I am a qualified engineer and expect to make a good living but cant do that yet as I do not have my EAD yet. Please help!!!

i feel bad for you man. your best bet will be to have a payment setup with them. like pay $20/month.they will agree to it.let me tell you something that lot of people will not like. the cost of healthcare in the US is not worth the money it cost. just take your case. this is ridiculous that they sent you this. i haven been through that.sometime what they do is turn you over to collections and collections sometime offer you to settle the balance like 50% of what you owe. there is no escape to this.

  4. Hi almost_umrican. Thanks! Yes, but its the law. I will follow then. I can submit EAD together with AOS so no extra fee :)

    Two good news for you.

    1) EAD is usually approved under 3 months like in 2 months in most cases (refer to the timelines)

    2) If same is the case for you i can almost bet you, by the time you will get the authorization, you will be getting a call for the AOS interview within a couple of months. (if AOS is what you are doing and considering no RFE's)

    3) Good luck, network up with your local community and local job agencies. it is sometimes hard to land the first job in the US (could be geographical and person's skill set)

  5. Mabuhay! :goofy:

Hi Everyone. Good day. I would like to ask if it is legal to work home based Online (blogging) while waiting for Employment Authorization Document? Thanks in advance for your response. Highly appreciate it!

This is the one of the toughest time for any alien in this country. waiting for EAD. especially when the person is a professional. i have and i am sure everyone who eagerly want to work and contribute to the family goes through this phase. i hope you will get the authorization to work quickly and to answer your question like many here have. you can't work until you are authorized by DHS/USCIS. you can volunteer though.

  6. I had a fairly quick process starting from AOS from B2 compared to a lot of people here. N400 process took a while though as i had changed my address which stalled the oath scheduling as the local field office got changed to a new one. after having waited for about 95 days after N400 interview i was today finally scheduled for the ceremony and shall be receiving my letter. (i already have them fax me the copy of oath ceremony letter). i now fall under chicago field office and my oath ceremony will be at Rock island,IL on July 15. Hit me up if anyone out there who is reading this and have a similar timeline from chicago or des moines field office. we will mostly likely be taking the oath together.

  7. Your work pays the Visa fees not you.

The craze to go to work on H1B in US even for a short assignment is high in China and India. employees happily pay the H1B fees which you rightly said is supposed to be paid by the employer. Most of these employers makes false promises, under pay them use them as modern slaves.

  8. Yes they will be able to see what you were questioned about (assuming the CBP officer wrote it down).

There is nothing wrong with having a US boyfriend when going to study there, in fact, it is one of the major reasons people want to study in the USA, to spend time with a partner they are not ready to marry. As long as you ALSO have genuine study related reasons to go to the USA, you will be fine.

This only applies to people from first world countries

  9. Insurance is a crazy topics, they wanted for my mother $750 a month that's $9000 a year, so i decided to not get her insurance, and yes i do claim her on my taxes, she does not work. I do take her to doctor twice a year for check up, and they give her medicaid discount because she not working so far i paid each year for her medical and medication around $560 a year. and on taxes there is no penalties because the insurance is not affordable and she is not eligible for medicaid.

    Good info. thanks

  10. Can't do K1 interviews within the US. That defeats the entire purpose of the visa process.

So yes if your fiance is here he would have to fly back and attend the interview. But even before the interview there are things he has to do. He would have to get the Biometric and medical done beforehand (and yes, those are done in his country also). Also, he has to obtain police certificates from his country. The process has a lot of leg work on both sides.

Can't do ? it's not possible. US will not have a foreign mission on its own land.

  11. Yes, I have heard abt the wirt after the 120 mark, its the ultimate brute method to force adjudication make make the slow and stagnant move.

But the writ must be filed by an immigration lawyer. Its an expensive process I hear.

you are right. USCIS will have 30(upto 60 days to respond).normally it is filed when the decision on the application is not made. in my case, it has been made but been a while for the oath.

  12. Thanks. I just remember the GC process. My wife was given 'a decision can not be made' letter at the interview in the morning but she received the 'GC in Production' text later that same day. On the other hand, last week she received the 'recommended for approval' and has heard nothing as of yet. But, it has been less than a week so I'm hoping she's in line either later this week or early next week.

i have been waiting for more than 90 days for my oath.i am going to petition for a writ of mandamus after 120 days is what i have planned.

  13. it usually take not more than 5 business days and a Saturday for anyone to get the mail.i would suggest you two things

    1) Call USCIS, talk to the IO, they can tell you the exact date when the letter was mailed. (just to get an idea)

    2) If the address on the file is that of an apartment/townhouse/Unit where the mailboxes are right next to one of neighbors, make sure you put a name on the mailbox so that the mailman/woman can not make a mistake of putting the mail in the wrong box. just a precautions. i would jump out of bed and speak to the IO again to ask the oath location and time and have them send another letter if it has been like a week or something since they originally mailed the letter.

  14. Hello all!

We're new to this. Today I took my packet of forms and evidence to the post office and sent it off with the money order for our K-1 fiancé Visa. I scanned and emailed the entire packet to my fiancé so he can have a copy for his own records and he looked them over and noticed I made a typo on his postal code in one section of the I-129F form. I know I should have had him look it over before I mailed it out, I got ahead of myself. Will something this simple hold thing up, or even get us denied? The address is correct in ever other area it appears.

i know that feeling. there can't be definitive answer to your question. going by my gut feeling. i think you will be okay.

  15. I've been looking for a calendar like the one Houston has, but there isn't one for Chicago apparently.

you are right.Counties that falls under the Chicago field office comes under several district courts in a case of judicial ceremony. like i mentioned above. Chicago in particular falls under northern district of IL whose official web do not mention the Calendar. if you look at central district of IL web. they have a whole list of ceremonies coming up for 2016. The central district covers Peoria, Rock island, Springfield and Urbana. i am in Peoria, falling under Chicago field office and expecting to be naturalized in any of these towns.

  16. I live in suburbs and at this point i dont care if they schedule my ceremony in Alaska, i would go just to finish this nightmare.

How did you apply, based on what and what happened at the end of your interview?

i hear ya, 3 year rule, i got recommended for approval on march 1 (day of interview), after talking to an IO over the phone, i was told i was approved on April 14.been pretty smooth so far and ready to be done with them
