  1. All,

Can I apply for a B1 Visitor visa for my parents while the IR5 application is in process ?

If yes is there any special considerations I need to take or additional scrutiny to be expected ?

Alternatively, to avoid complications is it wise to apply for Visitor B1 visa and obtain it first and then at a later time the IR5 ?

FYI I am a naturalized US citizen - my wife and 2 kids are US citizens by birth.

    Thanks,

    Alan

  2. All,

We just had our naturalization interview today at the Orlando FL field office.

just want to thank everyone in these forums, the collective knowledge and experience of us all had helped each other immensely throughout our sometimes decade long journey.

The interview experience was mostly pleasant -

12 mins security clearance and checkin

10 mins wait followed by a 20 min interview which wasn’t difficult. Mostly conversational and just verifying the details provided in the application and any updates since the application.

After clearing the interview it was actually a 2 hour wait for the same day oath ceremony. We were told there was some “technical issue” which caused the delay but once that was cleared the actual ceremony took less than 15 mins and we were out immediately after verifying all the details on the naturalization certificate.

if anyone has any specific questions, happy to help!

    cheers

    Alan

  3. Hi everyone,

I am now eligible to apply for Naturalization and have begun filling up the N400 form online. Now since i am eligible via the 3 yr residency rule, i'm assuming a three year address history is all that's needed. The online Form however gives a warning when the full 5 year history has not been provided (although it does allow you to go ahead to the next page with just 3 years history).

What has been the experience for other N400 filers going via the 3 yr residency rule ? What would you recommend ?

    Thanks,

    Alan

  4. Folks thought I’d provide my experience so far as well.
submitted the I751 application in the last week of October 2018 with the Texas Service Center and since then it’s been mostly waiting. The Receipt Notification didn’t make it to me multiple times because of address issues between the two USCIS logins we have- so ended up with multiple notifications finally due to erequests raised. I didn’t get any biometric appointments nor any indication that previous biometric data was going to be reused but ultimately I was scheduled an appointment when I called in and informed them that I had not yet been assigned any biometric appointment. The biometric was finally done in September this year.

Again after the biometric for abt two months there were no updates on the status indicating that the biometric process had been completed so I called in a couple of days ago - after that call I’ve seen the status update to card produced and picked up by USPS. It’s scheduled to arrive at my residence on Tuesday next week !!! Looks like this ROC process is finally done !!! Fingers crossed :)

Hey guys,is Texas USCIS still working? Or is it just me?

I sent them (Texas) an e-request for missing document about three weeks back and mentioned that i haven't got the biometric appointment yet.

They responded saying - after "researching" our case they have realized that i haven't had my biometric appnt done :/. Now they have sent me an appointment letter for the 19th of this month to get my biometric done.

  6. Hi everyone,

i have a currently active i751 application (Nov 18 filing) with an 18 month extension letter that will expire on the 20th of October.

i plan to travel internationally between the 1st and 25th of October which would perhaps mean I need to get an i551 stamp on my passport ? Is that a correct assumption ?

if yes then with the current online infopass appointment no longer possible, do I just show up at my local uscis field office (Orlando) to get a passport stamp ?

    thanks in advance,

    Alan

That seems like they are mailing you the 18 months extension letter because if it's approved it would say CARD was produced instead of DOCUMENT. Have you gotten your extension letter yet?

Yes already got that extension. Also below it says CARD refers to Green card and DOCUMENT refers to naturalization certificate, employment authorization document, travel document, or advance parole.

The current status reads CARD/Document Production

  8. Folks,

so I got this email update today

“There has been a recent processing action taken on your case.

    Receipt Number: SRC1990060287

Application Type: I751, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS ON RESIDENCE

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

On April 18, 2019, we mailed your document for Receipt Number SRC1990060287, directly to the address you gave us. If you do not receive your document by May 18, 2019, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request .........

This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a "green card") or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, employment authorization document, travel document, or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application”

Looks like it was approved !!!!! :/ I’m happy if it is lol but seems too quick and too efficient for USCIS lol

Same thing happened to me.  I placed an e-request on 12/8 and it says waiting to be assigned to an officer.  They then changed the date on 12/14 which is also when they took action and eventually closed the case inquiry.  Nowhere in my USCIS account does it say that I made an e-request on 12/8.  I now have my NOA on hand, hopefully you will get yours very soon.

Hey is there a way to separately track the e request online ?

  10. Don’t know if any Texas SRC allocated folks  (who have filled their i751 after the 20th of October) have got their 18 months NOA1 or biometric appointment letters. I’ve put in an e request on the 7th of December and it showed up on the tracker as assigned to an officer but yesterday I can see the same message but with a date of 20th of December - does that mean the first assignment wasn’t really an assignment and now on the 20th hopefully they have assigned it to an actual person.

The stamp is separate. Your extension letter is only valid with your expired original green card, so in that instance it would be 18 months from the April 2018 date.

Ok that’s clear. So it’s the expired green card and the extension letter than work together and serve as proof of residence for all purposes. Not the stamp and extension letter.

    Thanks Hypnos.

  12. Hi folks,

so my physical green card expired in April this year 2018 and I had got a i551 stamp in March which is valid till March 2019.  Now my i751 case has been accepted (late filing) and I’m expecting the 18 month extension letter/NOA1.

So for all purposes which date shall I consider the 18 months to begin from - the green card expiration date in April 2018 or the i551 stamp in March 2019.

    Thanks in advance

Did anyone send i751 to Texas service Centre and received 18 months extension letter how long does it take for them to send 18 months extension letter

I sent mine there - got notification online on the 5th of November but nothing since then - no NOA1 or biometric appointment letter in the mail. I raised the e service for non delivery on the 7th this month and I plan to call uscis tomorrow.

    Hi GaiaAlan,

i have a similar  timeline to yours (case sent Oct 31, check cashed Nov 6), and also Texas service center, but no NOA letter yet.

Not expecting anything tomorrow either, since all of USPS is closed December 5 to commemorate George H W Bush.

So it looks like we will have to file non delivery of NOA. But I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in this, as it seems quite a few people got no mail whatsoever.

Thanks for your reply - yes it seems like we would have to file that.

Now is there any difference between filing this via the USCIS customer service no or filing ourselves online ?

  15. So it’s 29 days now since our last update and no NOA1 or Biometrics letter. Texas service center.

the NOA1 is more for a proof on paper to show where required and I’m not too worried about that since I’m not traveling internationally anytime soon. What I’m concerned about is missing my biometric appointment because of not getting the letter from uscis. Is this a genuine thing to worry about or Texas biometric appointments are more time away for all here ?

Some mail dispatcher are bad, so sad!!!, the Tier 2 we spoke with on phone said we need to file a complaint at our local post office, and when we got there, I mean at Post Office, the lady we spoke with said the mailman for that route has been fired....she didn't tell us reason why he was fired but she said the new dispatcher is a lady now for our zip code  . I noticed that though, the older young guy isn't coming anymore. We had bad experience with that mailman, he mostly drop our mail in our neighbor's mailbox, the neighbor always bring the mail knocking at our door, sometimes hang it at the door.....who knows if my uscis extension mail is on someone's dresser, that doesn't know it's value nor worth......I hope and pray the duplicate makes it to me.

I would not immediately fault the USPS system in many of our cases - odd instances of mail undelivered or not delivered may be possible but for almost all of us USCIS will say they have sent out the letter at a certain date (almost a couple of  weeks in the past) with no physical mail in our boxes. Also if the end mail man is a bum the informed delivery should at least show the mail on its way. I find it hard to believe that the Usps system is not working at so many levels for so many people across the country and only for their USCIS mails.

I think the USCIS computer systems are buggy - the officers seeing our cases can see a status wrongly reported as “letter sent” but in reality the physical letter may not have been sent.
