  1. Because it could be a scan when it has to be an original. Anything with a signature has to be black ink. Sorry.

"When signing forms, sign in BLUE ink. Do not sign in red, do not sign in black, sign in blue. Signing in black ink might make the officer think the form isn't an original, but a photocopy."

These are Saylin's exact words. A few attorneys preach this as well. If this is false, we may want to consider changing it.

  2. i have the same thing happen ... got check list after 42 days ... do you mind telling us which document did they miss place from your package ....?

mine was my IRS transcript ... for that i have to wait another 40 days .. :crying: :crying: :crying::ranting: :ranting:

That sucks. Especially when you double check 20 times to make sure everything is in the package. I took a picture of everything I mailed for my own sanity, however, if they lose something the picture won't do me any good.

  3. I know, and since our lost time was strictly our lawyers fault, he should get on the EP. I absolutely saw that, his case is like ours Canada to FL! Did you file EP or snail mail it? I wonder what the pros and cons are of both, I hear you don't really receive a confirmation that your files were received via EP. If that is true, that might freak me out a bit.

^^^ disregard my question, just read that part haha

I FedEx'ed mine in the day after my bar code cover sheets were available, so they were there the next day. I felt more comfortable at the time with the mail route because I'm a little more particular than my attorney is. I was able to keep better control that way. I had found some mistakes in their work, and I didn't want to leave the EP to chance without me looking over their shoulder. If I had all the signed documentation here in Canada and completed, I would have scanned and emailed them off myself.

  4. Thanks Gobucks! I just emailed my lawyer.. Can't believe I didn't know this was an option until now. Our lawyer better not have any issues with filing our packets online! Our fees just changed to "paid" too, so he has no excuses now! :)

Filing electronically may help you catch up for the time lost. I'm sure you saw the CC for the Canadians in under a week here recently. In hindsight I should have filed that way.

  5. OK so from what I am reading people who are having their interview with the Montreal embassy are allowed to file electronically! Since my fees are still in "process" I can't check, but does that mean a portal on the CEAC website will let us know we can file for EP since we have a MTL case number?? Any info would be great, if that is the case I am going to have to blast my lawyer and make sure he knows this. Just want to make sure I have all the facts first before I write him. This would be the best news I heard in almost a month if true!!

Cosmos, you may definitely file electronically.

  6. Woo-Hoo!! Checked CEAC today and it took longer than usual to log in, then BAM! 3 N/A's!!! I called NVC to ask if something changed and she said my case is being finalized as the N/A is there but greyed out. She said we should be getting an email in the next 5 - 7 days regarding the interview in Montreal. I started crying at my desk at work.. lol

The hubby completed the DS-260 last Wednesday and I submitted the supporting docs via email last Thursday.

Wow! Nice job. It's looking like emailing your docs in is the way to go. That was very quick.

  7. PAID him good money, he was paid in full November 20th once we received our NOA2. My husband called him again at 1pm today and some guy answered and told my husband he was just the answering service, tried to ring him but he "must be on the phone".. "but he would email the lawyer his message." #######!! My husband is going to call back again at 4pm. And I will call tomorrow. We are dumb founded as what to do. He has all our documents too, today marks 25 days that he has been MIA with zero contact to our emails or phone calls and FEES STILL NOT PAID! :ranting:

Great to see you Ditdot!! :)

The consensus here seems to be that lawyers, in many cases, are no more than forms processors who are experts in visa process retardation rather than expedition. Once your money is in their hand, the incentive to expedite is lost. Nobody cares more about your business more than you do, and often times legal help seems to be a logical choice to complement your efforts. However, this certainly does not seem to be the case in many instances. Such a shame.

  8. Thanks for being concerned, it means a lot. :) That would be a big NOPE though!!! My husband left this morning after a wonderful 3 week vacation here in the states. We tried emailing our lawyer last Monday, and my husband called him last Wednesday. Lawyer STILL hasn't contacted us back or paid our fees. We are livid! Since my husband is traveling today, he is going to call our lawyer tomorrow and demand everything we expect from his this week and if he gives us any lip, we will ask for our fee money back and do it ourselves. Unfortunately we just don't have an extra couple of hundred of dollars to of paid them on our own. Also if we fire him now, we will lose all our money we already paid him. Our lawyer was officially paid in full after our NOA2 approval. So we are not sure what to do! We just know that it's been 24 days that our fees have been just sitting there not paid, no packets sent etc. Any advise would be great!

I'd make a personal visit. That kind of irresponsibility would drive me insane. He's already set you back about 3 weeks by the looks of it.
