  2. Yes there are a lot of success stories. Actually my familiy's case was a success too. It was a very easy interview for my wife. She got asked only one question and the rest of the interview was just like a kids play between the interviewing officer and my little kids

Hello Nana Abena, please did you get your passport with Visa yet? If yes did you pick it up from DHl or you went back  to the embassy before you got it ? It's 3 weeks now. My fiancee went to DHL on Friday 05/05/17 and still not in . We went to the interview on April 12.

My spouse went for her interview on April 6. The passport is still not with DHL yet. Her status only changed to issued on Friday. Hopefully we won't have to wait long before the passport is released

That is wonderful. Congratulations. It is great to hear this news from someone who went for the interview here in Ghana too. Cos i will also be going for the interview in Accra. Please how did you mean by you did front and side load your application at USCIS and NVC which made it much easier? Thanks.

What i meant by front and side loading was during the USCIS and NVC stage I sent a lot of supporting documents. These included, boarding passes of previous travels, pictures, letter from my employer, my life insurance beneficiary form, 401-K beneficiary forms, and other documents which proved my relationship with my wife.

So at the interview no new evidence was requested and it gave the interviewing officers ample time to go through my documents and make a decision before the actual interview

That's great news. Happy for you. How long did it take for your spouse to go through the NVC process? And also how long did it take for him/her to get an interview date? Thanks

Our Case was F2-A (Spouse of Permanent Resident) which has a longer wait time as compared to IR-1/CR-1. So in all it took 22 months from when we filed I-130 to interview date.

Case was at NVC from 08/2015 to 03/2017

I also frontloaded the I-130, but is it possible to add more evidence of a bona fide relationship at NVC stage? If so, how did you do this?

Hi Michael - sorry for the late reply but in my case I did add alot of evidence of bonafide relationship at NVC stage although it wasn't requested. I added pictures, letters, chat logs, boarding passes of previous travel etc and just placed all in a folder which was named as supporting documents.

As result when my wife went to the interview they told her she didn't need to provide any new support documents since they had received most of it already. I think it helps them review the documents and make a decision beforehand which is actually very good.

    Hello Everyone,

I just recieved my welcome letter last night. The cover letter they ask that you attatched is very confusing. I have all the documents for Packet IV. But on section 3 of the cover letter it asks for the following documents. My question is what documents do I need for a CR-1? I have already read the wiki but this list is confudsing. Some of these seem repeated , if i ordered a IRS tax trasnript would't it have my W2s and Federal Income Tax returns? I have bolded the documents I am unsure about.

    3. Signed Affidavit of Support (s)

    Proof of U.S. status

    Proof of Domicile

    Petitoner's Civil Documents ?

Proof of relationship (only for I-864A)

    Evidence of Income

    Form(s) W-2

    IRS Tax Transcript

    Federal Income Tax Returns

    Social Security Earnings Statement

    Proof of Assets

    Other Supoprting Documents

You can submit these documents for the following

Proof of US Status: Naturalization Certificate or copy of biographic page of US Passport

Proof of Domicile: US Driver's License or something to show that you live in the US like utility bills, lease doc, etc

Civil Documents: Marriage Cert, Divorce certs (if divorced before), birth certs, police certs, prison records, military records

Evidence of income: W2, letter from employer showing salary, pay stubs etc

Social Security Earnings Statement: You can go online to get a copy of your statement or view it online. Go to www.ssa.gov/mystatement/ and open an account with Social Security to view yourstatement.

IRS Tax transcript: Get it online or by mail. It usually has information from your filed federal tax returns

    Hope this helps

  8. You should have your GC in 3-4 weeks after entering the US.

An employer would require you to show proof of legal authority to work before you get hired. you should be able to use your passport with the immigrant visa in it as proof. But i think you should wait for your GC since you'd be getting in within a week or two time

Conditions under which you could lose your greencard:

The US green card can make the green card holder a permanent resident of the US for life. In most cases, this status is truly permanent, but in some very rare cases the green card can be revoked. This usually happens due to:

    1. Immigration fraud. If someone marries a US citizen only to get a green card, the green card can be revoked. Practically, however, this rarely happens as it is very difficult to prove that someone married only for a green card.
    2. Criminal activity. In some cases, a green card holder may commit a serious enough crime that is grounds for deportation. In this case, the green card can be revoked.
    3. Fraud. If the permanent resident lied, omitted relevant information on their application, or committed any fraud to get a US green card and this is discovered after the green card is issued, the green card may be revoked.
    4. Abandonment. If a US green card holder remains outside of the US too long – generally, 180 days or more annually – he or she is seen as abandoning their green card status and the status will be revoked. Once you are a green card holder, it is important to intent to maintain residency in the US. If you need to travel outside the US for an extended period of time, you will need to secure travel documents that can show that you do not intend to abandon your status.
  9. I have used Washington Dulles airport as a POE on a number of occasions and I would say it is a stress free airport. She would have to turn in the sealed envelope at the POE to the border control agent. Usually once they see the envelope they would actually direct you on the next steps.

With regards to the food i dont think it would be a problem. She just has to declare them on the blue customs sheet and she'll be fine
