We were going to be in this bunch - married November 28th !
However - after a huge headache readying all of the papers (as you all know), tons of printing charges ... we got it all ready. Mailed it Dec. 14th. Arrived 3 days after promised by UPS then... to our dismay was mailed back to our house on Dec. 22 (after they scanned every page in and put printed codes at the bottom of every sheet) because despite re-reading our entire file 1,000,000 times we put one digit wrong in our zip code. Yes. Page 1 of I-485.
So we had to reprint EVERYTHING and re-send.
Did this on Jan 2 (when UPS reopened after Jan 1) and our package was delivered this morning.
Fingers crossed for better proofreading this time!!!!!

If your fiancee chooses to go with Dr Slattery (which most people going through Paris embassy seem to choose), she can have her appointment the day before. Like LittleFox said, he does the actual examination in the morning, then sends the applicant to a (very classy and expensive-looking) lab for blood test, and another one for the X-Ray. Everything is within a walking distance in the same neighborhood and the Dr's assistant will give her a map and instructions. The Dr then gives the sealed envelope containing the medical forms by the end of the day.
That being said, does she have somewhere to stay in Paris? With the price of accommodation there, it might not be cheaper to stay for the night, rather than do the trip twice, if she doesn't.
She should also make sure beforehand that she brings her vaccination records showing all the necessary immunizations up to date. When I had my medical appointment with Dr Slattery, someone couldn't get their forms at the end of the day because they were missing vaccinations.

Oh well if your fiancée already received an email from the embassy telling you to select an appointment date it, I think you'll be fine! We hadn't received an email AT ALL, scheduled our interview, and then he was turned away. Some people were telling us we were silly for scheduling it without an official email, but I think most French applicants know that in the past, not everyone would even receive an email! So people would just go ahead all the time and it was not problem.... and then suddenly it was! But I think the bottom line is, you received an email in general (and it sounds like the one my friend received), so I thiiiiiiink you should be fine...... maybe still call and try double check if that makes you feel better!

NOA1 (case received) - June 30, still no hardcopy as I have been abroad this whole time.
NOA2 email notice - July 27 !
27 days ! Absolutely amazing ! We are so happy and excited for this journey together !

I called USCIS'
1 800-number,
1 for english
1 case status
1 if you have a problem
1 if you have receipt #
-dial receipt number..
1 confirm receipt #

3 if there's a problem in your case...
--- I was put on hold , asked to wait until a "live" officer answered
--- I informed the officer that I wanted to expedite my EAD. I was asked to give several personal info../receipt#s, etc
--- Officer read a script on how to expedite. I was asked to choose a reason from about 5 that she read.
--- I opted for #1 - financial loss, and # 4 - nonprofit org, impact to US . I explained about the financial loss part ( sole bread winner in the household, 2 kids, unemployed husband) and the impact to US part ( I am a math teacher in a minority school, hard to find a certified high school math teacher who wants to teach in a 90% minority school. If I were absent, about 70 kids would not be learning in one day or several days depending on the arrival of EAD. ). I requested the officer to read to me what she wrote in the remarks. It took a while because I also requested to expedite my younger son's EAD and AP . I chose financial loss for him as the main reason. He is a senior now and is applying for scholarship. The university asked for his legal status. When we presented his EAD(expired jan 3) and stamped AP (expires march 2012) we were told to get new ones because he is applying for fall 2012. So, without the new EAD/AP, my son doesn't it qualify for a scholarship, its a financial loss on his part too...that's it. I was given two reference numbers.
After I requested the expedite, I checked the online status almost every 3 hours (yes, can't wait for uscis' action). 36 hours after my request, I saw my EAD status as "Card Production". My kids' and my husband's EAD/AP were expedited too. The process works! Should the mail delivery system not fail, I expect to receive the EAD/AP from USCIS at most within the next two weeks. Thanks VISAjourney.com! I learned how to expedite my EAD from this site... truly appreciate the information posted here. I posted my experience to inform the other EAD applicants that the process works. It worked for my family.

If he has a return ticket, then "should" be no problems.
I just got back from Scotland on Monday, I went there to avoid this issue. Haha. They did ask about the visa when entering, but it was simple questions.
I got my NOA2 while I was in Spain, again no problems at Glasgow airport.
Sorry if this doesn't help. But I think he should be fine.
Look at people timelines, after people receive the NOA2 the interview does follow soon after. Maybe try getting in the trip before. Good luck!

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to thank the community for all the useful information posted on the site that makes life much easier for preparing visa applications!
Here is a few things I would like to say about visa interview in Paris:
-Things were really easy, came in and out within 3 hours, most of it waiting,
The consulate officer only requested a few documents (birth certificates/ passport pics) out of the hundred of pages I had with me ,
in other words ( and it might be specific to our case because we had a lot of documents compiled in the original application), the embassy didn't request any aditional proof of relationship of any kind ( even gave me back pictures, lol)
Most importantly, there didn't accept the financial documents I was carrying around. According to the officer, the rules have changed and they do not process them anymore but might be useful to have them while travelling to the US;
They asked me only a couple of general questions ( I was expecting hundreds) before telling me that the interview went well and should expect the visa within a couple of weeks!!! \o/
BTW: just in case this information was not out there yet, they have photobooths for US style pictures inside the embassy (running out of time after all this time waiting,really?)

don`t be sad about it, be happy about it the cases you see are exceptions, out of thousands. Instead, be happy because that means you`re getting closer and closer to Being that case that got approved! It`s a long journey and a stressfull one but we`re all in this together. Keep your head up we`re so close to the finish line now!

I had the same issue where mine got approved and I received NOA very quickly. My files got lost for 5 months en route to NVC and multiple calls and emails to NVC and USCIS didnt help at all. I did seek the help of our Senator's office and an immigration representative look at my case and they found my files at a " records facility" . Its a facility where they store files after being sent to NVC but in my case, NVC never received it. USCIS was able to retrieve my files and was resent to NVC and then the ball started rolling. One lesson, don't give up! Keep calling them. One and half year is wayyyy to long! They dont care about Us and you. You have to be aggressive. I did.
Now I'm thankful we are now in stage of scheduling interview and medical. Good luck to you and i hope this helps you!

Once your NOA2 has been processed at the USCIS level, the NVC and DOS are the only way to really find out when/where your case was accepted until you (maybe) get a letter from the NVC or Packet 3 arrives. As one of my favorite vjer's likes to say "HumansTM" are hard to reach at the NVC and DOS helplines. ESPECIALLY at the DOS. I clocked half an hour of waiting through recorded messages and being disconnected for pressing the wrong option or trying to surf my way through it before I finally wrote down all of the RIGHT options and made myself a road map.
Someone just pm'ed me about calling for a case update at the NVC, so I thought I'd share my "road map" with the rest of you, in case you're tired of getting lost as well.
For the NVC:
K1's are not tracked through the AVR, EVER. They are processed like an immigrant visa, but they are NOT immigrant visas, so they fall into a completely different class of their own. Therefore you need an operator. To get there:
1-603-334-0700
Press 2 for Non-Haiti-Related issue (Please note that this will probably change after some time)
Press 1 for English
Press 5 for an operator
For DOS:
This is where you will be able to find out if your case was received at the Embassy/Consulate. They will not see your case in their system until the NVC has logged it in and applied a case number to it.
202-485-7600
Press 1 then 0 for a live operator.
I hope this helps everyone else who has to wade through the red tape to get to someone (hopefully) with answers. Please be aware that not all of them have the correct information, and you can call back and ask for someone else or request a supervisor if you feel you're being given misinformation (SOMETIMES this helps, sometimes not).

Read "Embassy Info" and especially "Reviews: Embassy" for your consulate, attending especially to the worst experiences. In addition, surf your regional subforum (in your case, Mexico/Latin/South America). If even one fairly recent interviewee or petitioner reported problems at the visa interview because the petitioner wasn't there, spare no expense of time or funds to be there.
Bear in mind also that a previously easy consulate might have a brand-new Section Chief of the Immigrant Visa Unit who changes policies without notice, wherein the petitioner's presence becomes formally or informally expected.
Having been sorely burned along with my contemporaries, and still spittin' mad these 7 years, 2 days later in regard to the treatment that we received, I've remained active on VisaJourney chiefly to warn people never to underestimate the consular process.

I wouldn`t stress yet, give it another week, if you haven`t received it by then they might just return it before accepting it because of the check, if they do accept it you`ll get an update very soon They received our package on the 11th (sent on the 9th of June). They sent out a hardcopy on the 15th (our NOA1 date) and we got it on the 16th or 17th so we got it fairly early but it could take up to a few weeks indeed.

Update!! I just got this email from my caseworker!
Hello Ms. XXXXXX,
Mr. XXXXXXX arranged an appointment by himself via our appointment system –without having received instructions from us to do so. Applicants for fiancée visas should first receive an email from the Immigrant Visa section regarding which documents to gather and bring to the interview before scheduling the appointment. Unfortunately, we are in the process of changing the system of appointments and it is a bit confusing at this point.
At this point, Mr. XXXXXXXX can be scheduled for an interview on July 15, and he will receive an email from us shortly.
I can't believe they would change the system without telling anyone.... SO JUST FYI PARIS PEOPLE!! New system update..... I guesss......

Hello ( I apologize for my rusty english ^^)
I had my interview June 25th at Paris Embassy too.
Out of the embassy the guards let me in without any problem (and they let in my mother also which surprised me !)
But at the front office where they gave you the ticket, a young lady ask me about the "invitation" with the Embassy logo on top but I just had the confirmation of payment with me where it says the date and time of the interview. She said to me it was not that but I insisted that I didn't receive any other email and she gave me my ticket and let me in.
After when i was called at the guichet the first time to let them know I was there, the lady told me that the invitation is only for the people who have to come from outside France ! If you live in France the confirmation page should be enough.
But I suggest you to not give up with your caseworker because this is a mistake from THEM.

No, we only get the NOA2 hard copy, but after that arrives I will send a package to my fiance with a copy of the I-129F packet, copy of NOA2 hard copy, and I-134.

Totally true that once the package was sent I got infinitely more antsy and oddly once we knew we got CSC and that the process could possibly go faster than we hoped for...even more impatient! c'est la vie. Hang in there everyone!

There's no official information about the reroute back in March, but as far as the data on VJ show, june filers are still being routed to CSC so you should be good!

Hi all ! just found this post --- My fiancé and I sent our petition June 23rd from Paris, France and tracking says it should have arrived in Texas and been delivered yesterday, June 30th so I am going to batch myself with the June filers ... Crossed fingers for a quick, painless visa and immigration process for my fiancé and for all of you !
