Hello everyone,
My wife got her Green card through our marriage 5 years ago. Technically, she was eligible to apply for US Citizenship 2 years ago...But, we procrastinated. No, we decided to apply this month.
While applying, we noticed under eligibility that we can either select one of following
1. Permanent Resident for 5 years OR
2. Permanent Resident for 3 years and married to US Citizen spouse.
I'm wondering which option should we select ?
Same thing. I decided to go with the 5 year. Maybe ask in some of the groups where people filed earlier?

We are done! Card received in the mail today! For those of you who got transferred from CSC to TSC - it took us two months from the transfer to get the card. Good luck everyone! I hope that your cases get resolved soon and you will have your cards in hand with minimum additional efforts!
Received Date: 8/16/2017
Biometrics Date: 9/22/2017
18 Month Extension: 8/18/2018
Transfer from CSC to TCS: 10/10/2018
Status changed to Approved: 11/23/2018
Card received in the mail: 12/6/2018 (by the way, case status still in 'Case changed to Approved' on the USCIS web-site).

Filed I-751 in August 2017, which became one of EAC17333. Online case status changed to “case approved” on November 21; paper notification (I-797) arrived November 27. Case received to case approved in 15 months.
The I-797 recommends not traveling outside the US (“you should not... as you may have difficulty reentering”) until PR card arrives “within 60 days”.
Anyone know what the typical “case approval to card arriving” wait is? From other posts, seems to be in the 1-4 week ballpark.
I'm curious about this "difficulty re-entering business". Husband is currently abroad with the extension letter, we just received the paper notification a few days ago...We will see what happens.

We also received the notice that case was transferred from CSC to Texas. Hopefully, it means someone will actually look at it.

Just wanted to post in case anyone is interested. We received an 18 month extension letter today (Aug 2017 filers, GC expired Nov 2017). Was just planning on trying to get an info-pass to get an extension because of upcoming international travel. Such a long process...

Had our interview on the 2nd of Nov, today status changed to 'Card being produced'. Soooo excited!
-
Received an email this morning saying that our interview is scheduled on Monday Nov 2. Overall it took about 4.5 months from the time that USCIS received our application to this notice. Hoping to have green card by end of the year =)

Has anyone received their interview letters yet? We filed for my husband in early May, adjusting from J-1, got the AP in July and nothing since...

Our Advance Parole expedite was approved!!!! Yipeee!

if this is any consolation, I requested for expedite as well. I faxed my evidence about two weeks ago and still haven't heard anything nor online status update. I heard from the grapevine that USCIS was affected by the hack. I can't confirm the info though, but a lot of folks have been receiving updates via standard mail without any online status updates. just stay close to your mailbox!
Hi naijanoy007, thank you for responding!
Geez, 2 weeks - that sounds horrible, so much for "expedite". I check my mail and online status daily (saw from an earlier poster with successful expedite that their status changed to something 'assigned' before they got something in the mail. How frustrating =( I can't even get an info pass...

if your husband leaves before he has his AP, he will have abandonned his AOS and will not be allowed back to the US. You guys will have to start over with a CR-1.
The online site is screwy right now and is not updating as usual. Things are just appearing in mailboxes lately. YMMV if you get an online/email update or just something in the mail.
Did you talk to a Tier 1 or Tier 2?
Hi CAMama3, what is a Tier 1/Tier 2?
Yeah, I know the application abandonment. I just thought that if AP was approved but he does not have card in hand, he can leave, as long as he receives his card (via Fedex, whatever) before he enters the US. I guess I need to check on that more closely.

Try Discover. I know a number of people who started their credit in the US with them. Small credit line at first but tou can increase later.
Good luck!

I started college in the US and got my GC my freshman year. To me it meant that I was able to get US financial aid (Pell grants, etc) and had no trouble getting student loans (in my name) as well.

We are May filers, i accidentally put us in the 'Family adjustment' forum, even though my husband haa J-1, so have been hanging out there.
He did biometrics June 2, and on June 3, we applied to expedite AP (he has to go to Australia for work on July 2nd). Faxed our docs June 11, no info yet (not updates on web-site or texts or letters). I am worries as to whether they got our fax ;( (called today to confirm but they can't, no Info Pass available either).
If anyone succesfully expedited their AP can you please tell me what happened?( how long it took, any notices, etc)

Dear April AOS filers!
Can anyone who applied for expedite on their AP or EAD shine some light on what happened next?
We applied for AOS for my husband in May and requested to expedite his AP so he can travel to Australia for work right after his biometrics were done (June 3). Last weekend we faxed in the evidence of severe financial loss as requested.
Its been 3 days since we faxed everything and I am worried because I see no evidence on USCIS web site saying that they got the docs. I called USCIS today and they told me they cannot verify whether they even got the fax.
I am ok with waiting ( still 2 weeks until the trip and we will be abroad 2 more weeks, so we can have it FEDEX'd to Australia), but I am just concerned they never got it or it ended up in wrong file ;( I also tried to schedule Info Pass but no matter which option I try I get that appointments are currently unavailable (I am in OC, Ca so I guess they are overloaded).
Any info on your experiences (did you get text or any update online or just letter in the mail????) would be appreciated!

His work is not paying for his travel expenses?
He's a scientist. You make reservations and then get reimbursed. But it will be kind of difficult to get reimbursed if you actually did not go.

From what I've seen, people have more luck getting expedited APs with in-person INFOPASS appointments than through USCIS.
Hi SparklePony, thank you for your reply! I was thinking of info pass if you USCIS would did not get back to us (or flat out said "no-go" on the phone). I will keep it in mind if the evidence doesn't work.

people in warzones can't get expedites.
Hi hanniel, I am not surprised at that at all, sadly.
However, I've seen a few posts where people got expedited AP for business reasons, like this one:
So I am just trying to understand what distinguishes the successful ones.

And now our visa journey is over! Husband had his interview, was sworn in and got his citizenship certificate yesterday. Good luck to all of you who are still waiting!
