Can anyone who worked or lived in Hong Kong help us? My wife is completing the online version of the N-400 and I have two questions. First, for employers what occupation does she choose from the drop down menu? She was a domestic helper. Second, when listing the address where she lived and worked in Hong Kong how do I input her address? she lived Wilson Rd., Jardines Lookout Causeway Bay. We are not sure what to list in the City/Town and Province box. Thank you in advance.

I visited the OCI site but it does not say anything about renunciation.
I believe first we need to renounce Indian citizen and get Indian passport back with stamp that its canceled due to foreign citizenship acquired.
So how do we apply for renunciation?
I thought , it has been done already. You need to check whether you can apply both. Here in NY, ( my area), I did renunciation first and then OCI, but Washington DC allows to do together.

I live in Knoxville.. been waiting on my oath for 3 months.. no updates yet.. still
Did you check the frequency of oath ceremony in your local area office. Give them a call, if needed. In Philadelphia office, it is very quick, 10 -15 days.

Some other people here got Qual Review (and me from last year) and I thought the same thing as you did like ... which came first?
Anyway, I just came to the conclusion that I should just concentrate on notifications from the myUSCIS account. The impt thing is you got the 'We approved...' message so just wait for your oath notification. That Qual Review notification on egov won't change until you get the oath letter. I was also waiting for that Qual Review to change but when it didn't change 30 days after interview, I called them up and ask if my file was still ok. They said no flags and to just wait for the oath letter. I got the oath notification 46 days after interview.
So don't worry about the Qual Review. You've been approved! You should worry if you only got 'You attended your interview.' Hope you get the Oath letter soon. Congrats!!!!
I agree, you are in the line for oath ceremony. So check your local office's oath ceremony schedule, also look for the oath notice. You are all set, just a few more days waiting time to be over with your immigration journey.

Hi all -
My spouse's naturalization interview was just scheduled. When he filed form N-400 in August 2019, he met all requirements (Lawful residence, Continuous residence and Physical presence). Since filing form N-400, he has accepted a job with a US University in a satellite campus physically located overseas. I believe he still meets the requirements of:
✓ Continuous permanent residence in the United States for at least 3 years - specifically that he has never been outside the country for >6 Months (He returned in October 2019 and will return again in December 2019)
✓ Physically present in the United States for 18 months
✓ Lawful permanent residence
What other considerations should be taken into account here? Keep in mind:
• The country that he is working in is not his native country, and he has no ties to the country he is working in other than his ties to the US University he works for
• I, as his spouse, still reside and work in the US, and we maintain all of our finances in joint bank accounts.
• He is on a temporary contract of maximum 2 years (although likely shorter) and he has and will always maintain trips of <6 months as per continuous residency requirements
Please tell me everything is going to be OK... Thanks.
How many days he was in USA in October and in December, 2019? When he moved from USA to work outside?

You can submit by post or in person
Can you apply for OCI from India?Persons of Indian origin who are in India, can apply for OCI in India provided they are in India legally and the visa they hold when apply for OCI in India has at least a three month validity from the date of their OCI application. -
You can start and they will store it for 30 days . If you file same day, you are eligible, wait until Alaska time is 1 pm or wait a day after you are eligible

Same here. Local office is Minneapolis.
It is unfortunate, but they will not touch your I-751 until they are ready for your N-400 interview.

Hi, I got my GC in 04/28/15 and qualify to apply for the citizenship in April 2020.I believe the USCIS will start processing my file even though if I do the early file on 01/28/20. Is that correct?
My filed office is Lawrence, MA and the processing time is approximately 6-10 months according to website. Does anyone did the early filing in Lawrence, MA recently?
It seems that it will be 01/29/20. Check the calculator and also do not file at mid night the day you are eligible. Wait until 7 hrs after midnight to avoid Alaska time

Whether it is listed or not , sending 3 year of tax transcript as an additional documents would be good idea ( if you are filing under 3 year marriage base). Additional evidences are always helpful.

What I see now

n October 25, 2019, we sent a response to your inquiry about why your case is taking longer than our processing time, referral number .....
That is the message you will see when you log-in to your online account and you will get an email. If you did not , you need to wait another 30 days before you could send another inquiry. Did you check your spam? What is the inquiry?

You should receive an email, if it is listed

Thank you for your response. That was something that came to my mind as well, since I`ve already sent a letter via mail to the Newark`s office two months ago, and was basically told the same thing, that my status is pending.
Send another letter, since last one is around 2 months ago.

Does anyone have a sample of letter to Congressman regarding to your I 751 and n 400 ?
thank you!
If your I-751 is pending and you applied for N-400, then I-751 will go to NBC and when N-400 is ready for interview, they will send I-751 with N-400. Check with your local office time table for N-400. I do not think, congressperson can help you at this stage.

You have to say yes and explain what you said in your post. However, you need to collect all the paperwork, that cases were closed, they would like to see all those documents

In Seattle, it has been taking 15-16 months from the time of N-400 filing to the interview. Today is my 1 year anniversary! I will have to wait other 4 months.
Did you get any notice that your i-751 has been transferred to NBC? If yes, then NBC will send your I-751 and N-400 together. You might just have N-400 interview and they will approve your I-751 at the background after N-400 interview. However, it is important ( must) to go with your spouse during N-400 interview.

I married my Husband who is here on a K1 in May 2019. We are in the AOS process and I would like to change my last name. It is his culture for the wife to take both his first and last name as her full last name. Social Security refuses to do this without a court order stating that it is protocol for the wife to only take the husband's last name not both his first and last name as her full last name. I've done my research and to get a court order is extensive in that after all is said and done, after full state bureau investigation, background check, finger prints (all which I'm fine with actually), my birth certificate would change as if I were born with that name (which I'm not fine with). This cannot be the first time a woman wants to choose her last name based on culture and incorporate her husband's full name? I'm baffled because the rep at social security could not tell me why he couldn't issue me a new SS card with the name I chose besides saying "that's protocol"!?! No cite to law or anything. Suggestions???
Just take the last name, it might be against your husband's culture, but everybody needs to be flexible.

Hi guys! I am a November 2017 (I751) filer.
I originally filed for the California Service Center (my receipt number starts in WAC).
In December 2018, the case got transferred to Lee's Summit, MO (National Benefit Center, NBC).
In October 2018, I filed for N400 (Local office is Seattle, WA).
So, I have waited ~1 year for the Naturalization and ~ 2 years for the Removal of Conditions.
No idea what happens when the case is transferred to the NBC.
Is anybody in this Forum a "combo" filer like me?
It's hard to discuss my case in the "pure" N400 Forum because many people only filed N400 and it has been taking only 15-16 months in Seattle, WA.
But once you are a combo filer and your case is transferred is a big mystery. Thank you
Please check my timeline. I am also Nov 2017 filer and done with Citizen July 15, 2019 and it was kind of combo interview. Not sure, why you have to wait one year after N-400 filing. What is the current timeline for N-400 interview in your local office?
