You should become familiar with your country's sub-forum here on VJ to get a better understanding of the process for the Embassy that you will be interviewing with. This will allow you to get direct answers from those who have completed the steps you are about to take at the US Embassy - Brazil.  Sub-forum for Brazil is located here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

This is the Packet 3 (P3) letter from your Embassy.

There is a lot of information on the Embassy for Brazil here https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/frequently-asked-questions-non-immigrant-visas/

A thread were a lot of chatter about the process for the Brazil Embassy and interview

My lawyer had both of us write up our own letter of intent and sign it. However it is always good to get the actual hard copy with the original signature. He had my fiancee send his originally signed letter of intent through the mail, he would not let him email or fax. Because that would be a copy. Which makes sense that the government or USCIS would want original signatures. It sounds like you may not have sent in the original hard copy with your fiancees signature? That may be an issue but I don't know. Going forward I would highly recommend if anything needs a signature make sure to get the hard copy which means they need to mail it back to you.

Yes, I probably got that template letter  from someone else post. I should just have followed visajourney template letter :(. Meanwhile I cross my finger that the scanned copy passes, which I think should, another rfe will just kills me.

We got a case update today, I was pretty excited - but when I checked the status, I learned that we got a Request for Evidence. :(

Did anyone have success with calling to find out what the RFE was for, or will we just have to wait?

I tried with tier 1 and tier 2, but nothing. Was told to wait until the mail arrive, they could not provide any information about the content pretending they don't have access. So, just wait.

  4. I got an RFE related to the letter of Intent, they need one specifically signed by my fiance. Something that I don't get since I wrote a letter of intent signed by both my fiance and i, static g that we both intent to get married within 90 days and both are signing the document as proof. Why would they need one wrote  and signed by only her? Anyway, I asked my fiance to sign and scanne me one. She did and and I sent back the response today. Hopefully we will hear  something withing the next two weeks.

Relax. You're just throwing yourself off now for no reason. It's USCIS, by being upset, and mad, You won't make it quicker. I'm march 19th, and still waiting while there is 22nd+ dates being approved.
One couple (bananabutton5) is still waiting from 09/03, you're even later than i am.
There is no pattern, nothing. So just wait it out. It's starting to piss me off as well, but im at 191days still, when and if it'll be 210, i'll start doing something, but now? It's way too early to be upset about it. Take a chill pill, sit back, and wait. As much of an A**hole i sound, but i'm in the same boat with you.

    Cheers

I guess you right. No other option other than just waiting. I am trying to keep myself busy and staying away from this whole process until i hear about the noa2, but men, it is hard. Nevertheless I am positive that very soon, there will be light for all remaining March filers.

  6. Hi everybody

there was an error on the date of birth of my fiance and i requested a correction back in march just a week after i recieved the NOA1 letter.

Today i recieved a message stating that the date of birth has been corrected but at the same time they letting me know that they have initiate a background check for both of us. Do you have an idea of how long it can take? is this a compulsory step or just a bad luck?

Haha! You are exactly right. The best way to learn is it practice. I'm practicing Portuguese all the time. Music, movies, etc. When I bump into a Brazilian I try to practice (even though I'm always pronouncing things wrong...hahaha). It just takes time

Thanks guy for all your responses and suggestion . I think I will go for improving my Portuguese. Next time I go back to Brazil I think I will speak like one of them .lol.  what materials are you using for your Brasil português?

  8. Hi

My mom is in the US since 6 months and I would like to Adjust her status . The problem is that she is being treating for breast cancer and ongoing a chemotherapy. I have made an arrangement with the hospital and paying for it, so no problem on that side. I heard some people have been denied because of Hypertension condition. I just want to know if breast cancer is a class B condition and if there is a possible RFE for that. If anyone every had an experience about this or have a list of class B condition, I will really appreciate to have a feed back.

  9. Ok, some feedback bout my case.

I sent the N400 on june 19th and the file was received on june 23rd. On my application I checked that I didn't owe any money, as the CPA help me to file the form 982 showing my insolvency at the time the debt was forgiven, therefore no need to pay back anything to the IRS. Therefore I sent the amended tax return and the 982 form to IRS. But one mistake, my CPA didn't tell me to send the same file the my local tax commission.

So, two week before my biometrics, I got a letter from state tax commission about a $200 I owed back. I called them and found out that tax debt was about the same forgiven debt. A representative told me that I should send the amended to both IRS and state Tax office.

Well, I just decided to pay the $200 to be safe. I have not received my interview letter yet. I just have one last payment to make in one week and I will be done with the $200. I just wanted to know if this will affect my application or whether the officer will think that I tried to hide that I owe back taxes by checking No.

    Thanks for your input.

  10. Hi Jimmyhou. You just guess rigth. I work in a security field, cyber stuff... Lol. There is a position at my job that require to be a us citizen and the opportunity expires by the end of the Year. I really don't want to miss it. I will definitely send the amended return and hope IRS will process that by time I take the interview. The funny part of that I called IRS last week and they told me I am clear, their system shows no money owed. I guess their are just slow in updating everyone profile. DC85 I definitely don't know about the voucher but as for me I have enough to pay cash whatever they charge me, my only concern is the time-frame between the submission of the amended return and the release of the amount to pay by the IRS. I will check will my accountant nevertheless. Thanks for all your input I really appreciate it.

  11. My bad. I mean 6 to 8 weeks. Ok, I will send the amended return and wait. Just worrying about the processing time. IRS website says, "A Form 1040X - Amended Tax Return can take up to 16 weeks to process once the IRS receives it. It can take up to three (3) weeks from the date you mailed it to show up in our system. Unfortunately, calling us will not help us process your return more quickly." My question is just to know if you are automatically denied the citizenship by the USCIS when you check "Yes I owe money" and don't send any proof of payment or, if the decision is made at the interview with the officer.I think by the time of the interview I will probably already get a response from the IRS and will be able to pay the IRS in one time the amount I owe.

  12. I am about the file my n400 in about two weeks. The problem is that I just recieved a tax form 1090C from American express( I was forgiven less than $3000). The form 1090C came late because I relocated and Amex didn't not have my new address. Now I wonder if I need to file the 1040x and wait 6 to 8 weeks till the IRS get back to me with a payment plan or just file the n400 and sent a copy of the 1040x along with. Do I need to check "yes i owe IRS money" in that case?
