  1. Oscar should be ran(SIC) out of America.

He comes on TV and plays the Mexican Nat'l anthem and the American National Anthem.

His corner is carrying a flag with USA Flag on one side, and the Mexican Flag on the other side.

Oscar was born in LA, Proably(SIC) to Illegal Alien Parent.

    Immigration is a joke.......

Why should he be run out of the USA? He is a good natural born American citizen who brought honors to the U.S.. Whats wrong with playing the Mexican and American anthems and having a bicountry flag? Haven't they played the Philippine anthem too? What do you have against Mexicans, anyway? You are such a $tupid, ignorant bigot, a$$hole! Hijo de gran puta!

hey hey no name calling here lets be civilized.. I watched the fight. I did find it disturbing that the American anthem was played LAST. It should of been played first.. Also, I find disturbing is I saw more Mexican flags and honors to Mexico than American. If they wanted to honor Mexico more they should of held the fight in Mexico. Also, they picked the wrong singer to play the American anthem it sounded horrible coming from that woman. with the bad haircut.

On the illegal alien topic. We do have a major problem with illegal aliens wether they be Mexican filipino guateamalan chinese. Whatever the race doesn't matter. It seems to me as Americans we are willang, ready, and able to sell out our own country to everyone else for cheaper labor and greater exploitation of others. The laws state u have to be here LEGALLY to stay if not you should not be here. simple as that. We should just follow the laws that we have laid down for our country. If we do not agree with those laws we should vote on to change them. BUT we should not subvert those laws. The truth is we have a large group of people the chose to disobey the law disrepect our country's laws. Its up to us to make them accountable for their actions.

  2. Need advise on what to do...I met a women in philippines and we want to get marryed. But to make a long story short. She got marryed to a guy from a diffrant country a few years ago.He went back to his country and met a nother women and never came back. And a anullment takes a long time in the philippines and are expencive. So dont think i can bring her hear on a k1 visa.because she still marryed in that country to a guy in a nother country..Any comments that will help ?

Annulment is the only way to go if you ever want to bring here to the states. In order for you to be able to petition a fiance she must be legally free to marry aka legally single. if you marry her in phils she must be her only husband aka be married to one guy legally. Anullments can take 6 month to 2 years and from 600 dollars to 2,500 dollars in costs. Usually the more exorbanant fees in bribes to the judge the faster your case will speed along.. but either way anullments are very painful and it isn't garanteed of being granted.. If you want to go through with it get your honey in the phils to search for a good attorney to do your anullment case and just sit tight. That's all you can do I wish you the best of luck hopefully its fast and cheap. Hopefully you two will have it easy and can finally be together

  3. I guess I gets no love from anyone. I am truly at a crisis right now and I have gotten hits and bits of helpful info. from this site. But I guess that's the way it goes.. no one has responded to my question as of yet and 52 views? Wow...........it's ok though...... Good luck to you all still

Hey im gonna be honest with you.. I can see why your lawyer wants to dump your case. You are coming off as an spoiled child who isn't getting what he or she wants when he or she wants it. Especially by this insulant reply...

I can tell by your attitude your lawyer is just fed up with it.. You are right your lawyer is paid to handle your case answer your questions BUT he is not PAID ENOUGH to be your slave when you want every little question concievable answered He has other clients as well who he has to hande. You are not his only client in the universe and you should just sit back and be patient. You sound like an obsessive compulsive personality that wants to know everything so much to the point you will not let the lawyer do his job. Does that sound about right? Just take a chill pill have SOME faith in your lawyers abilities ask only IMPORTANT questions and don't worry wonder ponder the universe before your eyes...

But now I have said such terriblly horrible and mean things to you I wish you the best of luck in your case. Its punisihingly slow process. Expensive, You want everything to just get on with your life with the one you love. Its scary what if he gets denied? what if there is a problem? only thing you CAN do is take it ONE day at a time and each day you complete still in the rat race of immigration is one day you are closer to your goal... But if you worry about everything now you will go crazy before you arrive at the asylum.. Pray and have peace you will be much happier and your lawyer will thank you for it ;)

  4. i met a new friend who came here in a fiancee visa, but the relationship did not worked out as they planned they did not get married till her visa expired, she's still here but out of status now. is there any possibilities, she can stay here legally if she will going to marry another american citizen? or if someone will sponsor here for a work permit, despite of being here out of status? hope to hear some helpful advise for her! she's very depressed now!

I will say like the other posters that the answer is no. If she entered the us with a K1 visa then she has to adjust status through the guy who petitioned her she cannot adjust status through any other marriage petition. She also cannot adjust status through labor certification or any other method. There are no waivers or excemptions to this EXCEPT ONE which i will explain.. later

You say she is out of status as of right now well if she is out of status for under six months from the date of here I-94 EXPIRATION than she will have a 3 yr re-entry ban placed on her if she is out of status for 6 months or more than she will have a 10 yr re-entry ban placed on her. if she has just lost status it would be in her best of BEST interest to just go back to phils ASAP and wait out her 3 yr ban and try again. if she is here 6 months or more she will still have to go back but alot more painful.. (I would consult a good attorney DO NOT take my advice as face value i'm an amatuer like everyone else here not a proffesional)

Now, to the EXEMPTION if she wants to get legalized and get an exemption from the 3/10 yr ban she will have to overcome here inadmissability charge on her record. If she falls in love with a guy here or if she is in phils the USC will have to file a fiance petition or marriage petition whichever is appropriate. This process can only be done in her native country.. She will get here interview for her petition she will be DENIED a visa at that point for being inadmissable due to overstay of her visa. Then the USC must apply for a waiver of inadmissability waiver I believe (I-601) and the USC must prove that being seperated from his fiance/wife would cause extreme hardship. If the consular deems there is is proof of extreme hardship she will get approved and thus a visa will be issued.... This process is very expensive many thousands of dollars and can take 2 to 3 yrs for completion Manila is one of the toughest embassies when it comes to waivers (I HEARD) and you will definitly HAVE to hire a GOOD IMMIGRATION lawyer to handle the case...

I wish her the best but she has shot herself in the foot for violating her visa. If she is out of status for a short time I wouldSTRONGLY STRONGLY recomend her to go back(3 years is not that long a wait compared to the alternative) so she will not have to go through the hell i just explained... there is a forun a sister forum that has people who are in her mess and going through the waiver process www.imigrate2us.net there is alot of information on this forum about wiaver of inadmissability

I wish her the best of luck and hope she will do the right thing in her life. if you want to ask any questions please email me and i will be glad to help you.. sorry there is not immediate good news but there is good news and a way out but it is a hard climb to get to the light.

there is a lawyer that claims to be a guru on hardship waivers if she ever needs it her total price is between 6500 and 7500 for each case but has a very high success rate http://www.visacentral.net/index.html if she ever needs help this woman might be able to help. She gives free advice on immigrate2us.net chats often her name is laura Scott

disclaimer I am not a lawyer nor do i claim to be this is my own knowledge of experiences i had or seen please verify all facts stated with a qualified immigration attorney

  5. Right now there's no fvcking way McCain can win any of the west coast states on top of Hawaii.

Obama is the next President, and depending on Virginia/Florida, is how much of a landslide it becomes.

CNN has said GOP insiders have said the election is over.

Sad day for America.. A man who has stolen the slogan of change but stood for the same has proclaimed victory by promising lies and empty hopes that he can change lives...

We had a man like him before his name was BILL CLINTON who gave the middle class promises of hope and change but in the end gave the MIDDLE CLASS the largest tax hike in US history and corruption what was sad people defended him cause the only thing they cared about was their own selfish self centered view of as long as i get what I want to hell with the country...

A new ideology is taking shape in our county... And with that new ideology we will see our nation lose its only redeeming value self reliance... We will no longer control our lives and our families we will now be a slave to those who hold our chains. We now will not control our sucesss but look to the task masters for a better life...

Today is a truly sad day for us all and Our children because we have sold our soul for a few pieces of bread we can have now. But, in the end our children will be left to suffer for generations.. We have put our financial and materialistic security above our national security and we sold our feedoms for a hope that might not be. Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin once said a warning about Obama's idelology wich is this

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

    Thomas Jefferson

"Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Neither."

    Benjamin Franklin

These tennants of our society is what was and is being raped and pillaged by the Democratic part and is an abomination to what our country was made for.....

Victory goes to Obama but the true loser in this race is the American People... for the poor will suffer more and the hungry will be hungry more good day

  6. basically what you are saying is FOX NEWS is as fair and balanced as NBC? Funny thing you don't like the idea light being shed on Obama's corruption charges so what do you socialists do? attack the media that is taking Obama's hypocrosy to task!! Every other news agency seems to be asleep on the wheel when it comes to reporting on both candidates but more so seems to hide the truth when it comes to Obama's dirty laundry....

I got a question for you How can a man who has stood for the same ever be a man that will make change??? Isn't that contradictary in terms? Isn't that a lie? isn't that the lie you allowed yourself to beleive?

Definition of socialism/Democratic platform = to reach into the pockets of hard working small business owners and steal their money and give it to those who seek to take what does not belong to them. To take what they did not earn.... Or as you call it a hand out mentality...

In addition, To perpetuate poverty among the lower classes as to ensure dependence on social programs by detering the american dream thus keeping the corrupt officials in power.. Oh yea one more definition of the Deomcratic/socialist dogma TAX THE RICH TO STEAL FROM THE POOR.

SOCIALISM IS THE DEATH OF DEMOCRACY....

Now i hope i got you guys stirred up and riled up...... this should be fun ;) this thread has to much preahing to the chior i just want to drop in to sing a different tune.... I'll wait for your replies...

First off, the Republicans scrubbing voters is not "Democracy", nor is elimination of rights of millions of people to not be treated like a criminal and have their phone calls perpetually monitored by the NSA, nor is the elimination of protesting rights (assembly, speech, petition) alienating people to protest cages far away from the location of protest.

Secondly, Obama favors corporations, who bought his DNC. Did you forget that part? How about Democrats favoring ACTA? I'm sure Obama is no different.

While I think our taxes are too high on business, rich people have nothing to complain about. They aren't fighting tooth and nail to get food on their table. They're doing just fine.

Thirdly, if you call tax breaks to the rich, and this #######-for-tax PAC money for legislation that this Congress+President does a "Democracy", I'm pretty sure that means you have no clue in hell what IS socialism, never mind Democracy.

    cool debate luv it ..

Ok i will tear your NSA theory apart with this.... that only covered international calls and with the destination of a listed suspect... As you can tell that is perfectly constitutional and legit... We have to have the ability to find who is talking to who as long as the reason is justified.... The Enemy will always use our limitations and weaknesses against us... So as long as the wire tap is balanced with caution it is a life saving device that should not be slandered...

Secondly I will tear your TAX issue apart... SO when is it too much to tax the rich where is the limit on how much we can rob and steal from them? This is a dangerous and devistating The RICH give you and me a job and opportunity. They do pay our bills and feed our families in the sense of jobs and salaries to say that they have more gives everyone license to just steal from the makes it ok? I will tell you the consequense of what you are saying to further burden the business society we will force them to CUT jobs which means more suffering for US. We will force them to cut wages and raises which means more suffering for US. We will force them to raise prices of goods and services we buy to survive which means more suffering for US...... So to say Tax the Rich more just cuz we can and we think they will afford it is just IGNORANT.... Now, more than ever is the time when we need to spur job creation by helping and rewarding THE RICH expand investments and jobs NOT PUNISHING them for succeding WE NEED NOT BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS US.... CUZ when you do YOU will pay for it...

WE AS A NATION NEED TO BE COMPETITIVE ON OUR TAX RATES so corporations want to stay. Give them a reason to stay they will give them a reason to go they will to that... we cant leglislate success.

Obama is a socialist because has he has stated himself we need to introduce REDISTRIBUTION of wealth..... which is stealing from one person just because that person worked hard to give to someone else. THATS SOCIALISM NOT DEMOCRACY.... He wants to punish those who worked hard to be where they r at even more than before. HIs policies enacted u will see Job creation shrink. U will see poverty rise...... U will depend on him and look toward him for ur success.....

Also, the danger of Redistribution of wealth is when you punish a class higher than the class lower you keep the poor poor and the rich poorer so there is less success and oportunity to share.... You take away the incentive for those who are not as fortunate to want to do better or improve their life.. Why go higher on the ladder of life When you know you will be punished for it? In this Ideology you are given everything you need by the state and thus there is no reason to move anywhere on the ladder. This ideology is what will KILL the american dream This ideology is what will KILL oportunity for millions of americans to make a better life for themselves...

So i do have an idea of socialism in all its forms its a failed idea tried many times and we should not play with failure... Europe has Obama's beliefs enacted and they are now turning more capitalistic Iceland had Obama's beleif's enacted and their economy crashed..... Honolulu had Obamas beliefs in the healthcare system and after 7 months it has been scrubbed because it was a failure.... Why go on the road to failure? DO you think we can afford it?

  7. Well there is some misspelling there.

Is that the strongest comeback you have? Is that the best you can do? My points must be really good when the ONLY thing you have to comment on is my spelling.... Man I LOVE BEING RIGHT.

VOTE FOR OSAMA OBAMA and lead Al-Qaeda to power.

  8. basically what you are saying is FOX NEWS is as fair and balanced as NBC? 9. I was wondering if a petitioner is required to sign form G-325A. As I read fro form I-130 says " A completed and signed form G-325A, Biographic Information, for you and a from G-325A for your husband or wife. Except for your name and signature you do not have to repeat on form G-325A the information given on your form I-130.

I just want to make sure about this before sending this. I don't really want to receive a RFE because of this. Anyone who did this before pls give me your advise...Thank you very much

Yes the petitioner and beneficiary must sign the G-325a and the signatures must be origional not emailed scanned if they are sent in to USCIS not being origional signatures a RFE will be generated..

  10. hi everyone.

my aunt became a US Citizen last June of 2007. She went back to the Philippines in September 2007 and now she is still in the Philippines. She is overstaying in the Philippines because her husband got sick and has recently passed away. Is her overstaying reasonable to the US Immigration? Can she still go back in the US? What documents does she need? Will her citizenship be revoked coz of overstaying? Please help. Thank you very much.

    cc

if she is a u.s CITiZEN then and not a us resident (green card holder) then she has no residency requirements and can stay in phils as long as she wants.... her citizenship cannot be revoked for overstaying she has no worries a kuma matada ;)

  11. Ok here is my question:

What will happen once the conditional greencard is expired?

Does that mean automatic deportation? or what are they going to do? the immigration i mean?

it doesnt mean AUTOMATIC deportation but it does mean u will be put into removal proceedings sometime in the future... Question why did you let your conditoinal green card expire?

You will need a lawyer now to fix this problem as you are in dire situation.......... 3 months before it expires you are supposed to apply to remove conditions....

Hopefully there are others who can add more help for you.... do not listen to the ignorant fool who says nothing will happen it will be ok cuz he's dead wrong........ Good luck and God bless take care

Umm, if you were careful enough to read her timeline, you will have noticed that she has filed for removal of conditions and is waiting for her NOA. Just because the date on the card has passed does not mean she is out of status. Further, she has already filed once, but had to refile because of the wrong fee. Do you really think she's in trouble, or is it that she will get her NOA soon?

Perhaps you should read first before you make a judgment call, I'm only trying to reassure the OP that she has filed on time, and USCIS is simply processing her case, hence no need to worry.

    Signed

    Ignorant fool

UMM putting foot in mouth and chewing rather harshly............. anyone got a rock they can give me so i can hide under it? My apologies I did overlook that thank you for pointing it out.. I thought you were someone who was trying to be mean by giving false info (turns out it was me giving false info) and that turned out to be me being unjustly mean to you.... Life is ironic eh???? My apolgies.... I just read her message body and without getting all the fact that were in front of me assumed she had not applied for removal of conditions..... Boy i really messed that one up..... Sorry for everything.... I learned a harsh lesson on that one...... Now you can beat me up

  12. Ok here is my question:

  13. my fellow VJ members hello :D

got a question here again :hehe: anyone here who tried and experienced flying from PI to US with the korean air? do they have a good service? thank you (F)

I used Korean Air 5 TIMES so far and I give them 5 stars... One time they had a breakdown in one of the connecting flights to manila Korean air put me in a 5 star hotel (Raddison) for the night free of charge and I got a 3 course gourmet meal free of charge as well the room value was 250 a night(if i was to pay for it but i didn't korean air covered everything) and I was very impressed.... All the other times great service great everything I'm totally hooked on korean air....... To me any other airline is just a rip off..... Also, U can get great deals on korean air too if you look for the Q class seats

  14. My H and I are separated, but I love him very much. I only wish that he knows how much I love him and love me equally that he will change for me. Maybe it is wishful thinking. I just think that after the whole immigration process, it would only strengthen the marriage. After all, we all have been through a lot. To me, marriage is for life. People think about divorce too easily. Things are not going well? Let get a divorce. My husband was being abusive, but I still love him. He could be so sweet when he is not being abusive towards me. Sometimes I think "if only I have done this..." I do't know, just want to vent on a lonely night.

I'm gonna be blunt, U r showing signs of an illness, most people who are abused will in one way justify what is happening to them.... U r too dependent on him to the point to see that being with him is hazardous to your health and emotions.... U know most abusers are like that jekle and hyde when they are in control and everything is cool they are as cool as a cat. But, when they lose control of the situation or thing they get angry and use brute force to reinstate that control in any form......... If u really dead set on being with him and working this out.. Then you are gonna have to be responsible... first of all he's gonna have to show some initiative that he wants to change like getting help anger management therepy whatever is he needs to help himself.... He's gotta want to change you cant make him plead him to change it has to be his desire.... U should make that a condition for you to return he's gotta decide what he wants in his life stay the same and being alone and lose you? or change fight his demons show he's changed and have you? But that means you gotta be strong and not give in. Stand your ground.... And whatever choice he decides go from there......... Marriage is for life but it is not a prison. It isn't a trap for you to continually to be abused It isn't an excuse to remain in this situation....... No matter what you do he would of done the same to you... If you only done this excuse is just you trying to blame urself for what he is doing to u.... It's not your fault you are not to blame it is his fault he is to blame.... another symptom of mentality that is shown in abused women.........

Get some help from a group don't just let this hide in your heart good luck and God bless

  15. I really feel bad for my friend Katy, but I don't know what can I do to help her, please help!

My friend is a nice lady, she came to the States to marry her husband 2 years ago, they had no problem in their marriage until she came back to Thailand to see her daughter and family. Her husband wrote her a email to tell her that he want to divorce, and he will send all her package back to Thailand to her, told her no borther to come back. He wrote and picked every small things to tell her why did he want to divorce. My friend didn't accept it, they can't talk about divorce in the phone or just write a email! And she did nothing wrong! Before she came back to Thailand, they had no problem.

So she changed her flight ticket to came back to the States, she didn't have a driver license, so she called him to pick her up in the airport.( even just a friend, if people need help, you will do it, right), but he refused! I had to pick up my friend, and took her home. When she got home, she found every single of her stuff was packed and put in another room. She tried to work things out, but he didn't talk to her and just completely ignore her, and he didn't want to file that remove conditional green card for her of course! Even she need a ride to go out to get food, he didn't take her. She didn't eat for 2 whole days because he didn't take her to get food! I can't image a woman in this age would still have to deal with this emotional torture!

I think this can be domestic voilence, and I also think this guy planned all these. Maybe he already has another woman! What he wanted to do is to metal abuse her until she couldn't stand and go home. What kinds of people would do this, bring a woman from another country, then mental abuse her and try to abandon her! I know she should leave him, but I think she also deserved her green card!

Please help her and give her some advice, thank you!

this definitly sounds planned out... He could be cheating on her that is a possiblility but will have to dig around to find out for sure... She wasn't what he wanted and when was looking for the easiest way to dump her to the curb.... This freak isn't a man but a coward... He waited till she was in thailand to tell her cuz he was betting she wouldn't retun and he could just walk away... This is a calous and cruel man I hope and pray he gets the same that he gave maybe it will soften his hardened heart.......

She can still remove her conditions though.... If she can prove that the marriage was in good faith... She will have to get a divorce first to be able to do that.... She needs to get an immigration attorney for this..... On proving mental abuse she would need lots of evidence witnesses police reports etcs again need counsel from an attorney on that one... I wish your friend the best of luck and let her know she is not alone... Be her angel when everyone else has abandoned her..... I send you two my love and hopes that everything WILL work out in the end and I know they will take care and God bless you eternally

  16. even though what they said is reprehensale and disgusting. It doesn't rise to the bar of a lawsuit or shouldn't. People are offended everyday does that mean everyone should be sued? that is crazy this is political correctness gone wild here..... I have been in this situation before do u see me running to a lawyer? We all have to face this in life... I'm tired of seeing people decry foul and run to a lawyer everytime their feelings are hurt.... I know my opinion is not popular but I don't care.... We as americans need to grow a thick skin grow up and push back no cry like a baby.......

Choosing to be a doormat and just taking in whatever insults, hurts and humiliations are thrown your way is your choice but to chose to be able to live with respect and dignity is also a choice. If Ms. Richards will just let the harasser go unpunished he would think that it is ALWAYS ok to mock and humiliate other people from other race since they would only take all the beatings without complain.

You are right, we do face insults and derogatory comments in this life (no matter where we are) but if you won't learn to stand up for yourself it will only continue and will even get worst. You remind me of a classmate long time ago.. in grade school, he was always picked on but he just took it all without resistance until he was thrown to a pit and us girls had to take a stand for him. The boys said, it was ok with him coz he was not complaining anyway. The sad part is the boys even thought he liked being picked on or being the butt of joke because he never said anything against it.

I have been teaching my kids to chose their battle well, to just let go of minor disputes or little teasing but to stand up when they are kicked below the belt. I have been teaching them never to inflict harm on anyone but NEVER to receive it without complain. I have been teaching my kids to chose their battle well. Being insulted that way, and in public at that is just something that I would want my kids to stand up against and something that I would also not take sitting down.

If everybody will have your way of thinking, if everybody will think that it is ok just becoz it is the way of the world. If Rosa Parks and the Loving couple have your way of thinking and didn't stood up for themselves, do you think you will have america as it is right now? VJ won't probably even exist.

There may still be racial discrimination but compared to before the time of Rosa Parks I would believe, it has been lesser. Yes, there are still people who raise eyebrows to interracial couples but at least it is not illegal to be in an interracial relationship now and there are more and more people who accepts it, all thanks becoz one couple chose to fight and hold on to their love.

What happened to Ms. Richards was public humiliation and I am applauding her for fighting back in the right way. What she is doing is not only for herself but will also benefit not only asians but also people from other race.

I am not saying it is ok to be a doormat to be walked on and i'm not saying do nothing about it... One thing is make a complaint with corporate and vote not to send your money to that establishment.. She can tell her friends not to spend their money there...

But, I find it alarming these days that more and more people will sue or litigate every small issue that comes to them..... I don't beleive what this jerk says rises to this type of attention its ludicrous.... Next thing you know if I were to say something to somebody and they don't like what they hear i would be sued... That is what i am protesting... Rosa parks protested an exstablished racist society at the time.... Ms Richards is not.... That is not the case in this situation but an isolated case... I see this issue as a slippery slope Just cause u hear something you don't like or that is offensive does that give you the right to run to a lawyer or government agency as fast as you can? No.. I beleive this infringes on first amendment speech. More and more everyday our words or regulated and legislated... everyday our freedom of speech is restricted and constricted everyday we have to worry more and more what everybody else thinks. worry if they are OFFENDED... If there is real damage e.g. loss of job, major psychological trauma, threats or hate crimes, something which the damage is "MATERIAL" in nature yea that rises to the bar of litigation... I cannot see how what happened to Ms Richards rises to that level.... You have one side I am just trying to point out the other side..... I do fear that one day we can't say what we think cuz we are too afraid of everyone else might think.. WE HAVE THE FREEDOM TO SAY SMART THINGS OR STUPID THINGS what this guy deserves is a punch in the mouth....... enough of my babling I am waiting for everyone else's dissenting opinion to mine :D

  17. To all VJs,

I got this at GMA site and thought worth sharing. AN EYE-OPENER TO ALL OF US..

    http://www.gmanews.tv/story/113641/Pinay-n...ail-order-bride

CHICAGO, Illinois – The Filipina nurse and retired US Air Force Reserve staff sergeant who was allegedly called a “mail-order bride" by a salesman in a Chicago retail shop is determined to get justice in a settlement conference next month.

Frannie L. Richards said she was shopping at the Swedish retail giant H&M (Hennes & Mauritz) last October when a male employee in his “20’s to early 30’s" raised his right hand and said, “Mail-order bride in the house" and ran toward a fellow employee before they started laughing.

Since there was no other shopper “within three or four racks of me," Ms. Richards, said she was “shocked and disgusted" these white employees implied “I was a ####### and could not understand why he would say anything so derogatory."

“I felt like crying but refused to give him the satisfaction. I had a red bag and was wearing black pants and a long denim coat. I am an Asian American woman," she said.

Because she wanted to get the names of the two employees, Ms. Richards approached them and asked if she could try clothes on. The man rudely pointed to the fitting rooms and said, “Can’t you read that sign, it says ‘fitting room.’"

As she walked away, the man started muttering under his breath and making a mocking noise like “ching, ching, chong." Richards said she felt degraded and upset.

Because of her frustration, she asked to talk to a department manager named Tom who could not even provide her the name of the offending employee.

Because she felt helpless, she left. But her friends convinced her to go back and get the name of the “harasser." When she came back, she was accompanied by a friend as a witness.

She looked for another manager. This time, Greg, could only tell her that his harassing subordinate would first “get a verbal warning, and if it happens again, then, it would be written down." She said she was told the employee’s name is “Joseph H." whose position is called “visual merchandiser."

April Lewton, Richards’ lawyer, said she is “pleased to hear of the Chicago Commission on Human Relations’ findings of substantial evidence of a violation in the case of Frannie Richards v. H & M, and we look forward to justice being served at the settlement conference in mid-September."

Ms. Lewton, an Asian-American Institute community organizer, said, “(the) finding of substantial evidence means that there is enough evidence for the case to proceed to an administrative hearing."

She added, “The settlement conference is an opportunity for the two parties to reach an agreement prior to the administrative hearing."

Because she wanted Joseph H fired, Ms. Richards filed a discrimination complaint against him for violating “Chapter 2-160 of the Chicago Municipal Code."

The said law guards against discrimination, including anti-Asian and sex-based discrimination, when discriminatory incident takes place in Chicago and involves employment, housing, public accommodations, credit or bonding.

She was initially assisted by lawyer Myron Dean Quon, Asian American Institute legal director. Mr. Quon commented then, “Anti-Asian, xenophobic and misogynist verbal attacks still happen on a daily basis. Asian American women, like Ms. Richards, should never have to deal with this type of harassment, in Chicago no less."

“I knew that I had to enforce my civil rights for myself and other Asian American women. Because H & M refused to discipline this employee, I immediately thought of my own female relatives and friends. The workplace usage of disparaging anti-Asian slurs should require the termination of that H & M employee," Ms. Richards insisted.

She earlier said that if the case is not settled before Chicago Commission on Human Relations, she is ready to elevate the matter up to the Cook County Circuit Court, where she will seek damages for emotional distress, injunctive relief, attorney’s fees, costs.

When news of the incident broke out, Filipino and other human rights activists picketed the front of the H & M, which even hired a Filipino - American lawyer to help the retail giant's legal defense.

even though what they said is reprehensale and disgusting.

  18. I got to embassy around 6:15 a.m., 45 minutes before my scheduled appointment. All immigrant visa applicants (including k3) had to line up at the right side where the line was shorter. The other line, for seafarers and other immigrants visas were a lot longer. Anyway, I had to present an ID (in this case, an NBI clearance) to the guard and my DS 156 and 157 (plus DS 156K for k1 applicants). this took around 10 minutes.

i then entered gate 2 and placed my stuff in the xray machine. afterwards i went to the immigrant visa section where the guard asked us to take our seats. one by one, each line had to line up at the immigrant visa ticket booth where we presented our 2 copies of the DS 156 and DS 157 plus visa pictures.

IMPORANT!!!!! A lot of people who were way, way ahead of me were tremendously delayed. In fact, I was already on my way out of the embassy and they were still waiting to be called for the interview? Why? Because they didn't fill out the DS 156 and DS 157 forms correctly or they only submitted 1 copy of each. Btw, item 39 of DS 156, u have to check NO if it's not applicable to you. the girl before me only had 1 handwritten DS 156 form (yes, apparently they accepted handwritten forms). she was given another copy to fill out before she could go back to the ticket booth. i had my interview like an hour before hers. a few minutes of delay made a world of difference.

anyway, i didn't have a watch so i can only provide estimates. i had to wait my number to flash on the screen. IMPORTANT AGAIN!! A lot of people missed their number because they weren't looking up. They would not be announcing the number or anything so if you miss your number because you weren't staring at the board, well.. too bad, they'd put your number at the end of the line and you'd wait for hours. It happened to the girl 2 rows infront of me. Anyway, you don't have to stare at it. Just look at it whenever you hear the ding. That means they're posting a new number.

So... after an hour, my number flashed on the screen for my pre-screening. The woman was very nice. She asked for my affidavit of support. I also gave her my co-sponsors' affidavit of support (yes, they do accept co-sponsors for k3. infact, if not for my co-sponsor, I would've had problems. initially, she remarked, "so your husband just started on his new job? do you have an original certificate of employment? i only had a photocopy but i had a notarized copy of his job offer. anyway, i told her "oh i have a co-sponsor." then i handed her my mother-in-law's affidavit which she accepted). afterwards she asked for pictures. i brought my album out and she said, "just 4 pictures please". the small album wouldn't fit in the hole. so i took four pictures out and handed it to her. she asked for letters, i told i had none but i had chat logs. so i handed her chat logs and phone bills. she gave back the hotel receipt. i enumerated the other pieces of evidences, should she need any of it. she just told me that it's fine and that i should go back to my seat.

thirty minutes after, my name was called for finger scanning. took like a minute.

this was where the long wait began. i think i waited for about an hour and 30 mins, probably even more. finally, my number flashed on the screen and i entered the room where i was to have my interview with the consul. it went like this:

the consul wasn't even looking at me. she was handing back the stuff i gave to the pre-screener (pictures, phone bills, etc.)

    these are the questions she asked;

    what's your name?

    how old are you?

    what does your husband do?

    how'd you meet?

aftewards, she said, "okay, that's fine. sit outside and wait for your number to be called."

five minutes after, they called my name. the guy gave me a pink delbros visa delivery receipt then i went to the delbros booth to pay for my visa delivery. they told me it'd take around 2 weeks or less for the visa to be delivered.

so that was it! i was carrying 2 huge bags crammed with paperwork and evidence, and i only got to use like 5% of it.

Ahh, you broke my record I went to my wife's interview and it lasted 2 min 30 seconds I think im gonna cry :crying:

  19. All politicians are corrupt. I have not seen one that has made it to the final two that I have liked in a long time. So again it is just trying to pick the best of two evils.

I always try to be rational and informed. And not make harsh judgements because the mud slinging gets in the way of the facts, but... McCain really scares me.

McCain scares you!?!?!? and Obama does not ?!?!?! THAT REALLY SCARES ME

To all Obama supporters = Men who willingly put chains on their feet by men who promise a better life that they willingly give up the right to live their own lives are not men at all I tell you but slaves to another man's Ideology... That is the kind of people it takes to support Obama.

Life is your own. Rise up and live it!!!!

  20. I have a nephew who wants to petition his girlfriend from the Philippinnes to the US on a K1 visa. I did a search of the forums to see if this issue had ever been brought up and have found nothing.

The following is the letter that was sent to me by my nephew

    Hey Uncle Frank,

As you know I met this wonderful Filipina girl, Marla, 4 months ago. We’re pretty serious about our relationship and would like to get married. Mom said that you were in process to be married to a nice Mexican girl (BTW congrats) and said you were a member of website that was helping you in the process of bringing her to the US and if I had any questions to ask you.

I have a question for you: Marla and I met when she was a bar girl in Cebu. She said that she was doing it to help out her family. She stopped working in the bar a week ago because she felt our relationship was more important. If I want to bring her back to the US and marry her on a K1 visa will her being a bar girl affect the process? My friends say that it shouldn’t be a problem for me because most of the K1 petitions are for former bar girls. What do you think?

I have no experience with the Philippines but I do have experience with Americans trying to bring Mexican fiances to the US. The Mexican bar girls/ prostitutes have to register with the local police and they receive a health card that has to be signed off every month by the health authorities. The American consulate does a check with the local police authorities to see if the woman being petitioned has been or is registered as a prostitute.

Will her being a bar girl/prostitute derail the K1 visa?

Thanks in advance for the help

I would have to agree with some of the posters on this thread. Bar girls ARE nefarious NOT garenteed though of exploitation... Your nephew is taking a very big risk of being used for money, green card anything..... They are not innocent and their minds are programmed to seduce use to get what they need..... The fact in general Bar Girls do not make for good dating material only broken hearts are they good at.... Tell your nephew to take it slow and to be wise. He im sure is very niave and has NO CLUE what he's getting himself into.... Good luck

  21. hi vj. i dont know exactly whats on my mind... im so down..i just went home frm a minor surgery from the lump i have in my neck. the doc took 2 samples..one is for weather its benign or malignant and the other one for TB culture. my doctor suggested to bring the one for TB culture in st.lukes main cus its better there. i had my opearation at the chinese Gen. hospital. the one of benign and malignancy sample will be examined there at the chines gen laboratory.

we went to st. lukes to bring the sample for TB culture and to my shock, i need to wait for 42 days for the result..that wud be on the Sept 4. my interview is on Aug 28 and now i dont know what to do..

i told my fiance and he's so pissed of whats going on. were both so lonely and cant believe whats happening.. i dont know what wud i do next..do i have to move my interview sked but when?do i have to inform SLEC?

all we want is very simple..we just want to be wtogether for the rest of our lives because we love each other, why do they have to hold us and make it so hard for us to be together? isnt our true love not enough for them to let me be with my fiance?

Ok, here it is... Question did you have your medical interview? If you did not then this POSSIBLY could hold your interview back.... What you need to do is inform st lukes about your interview and see if they can expidite your results cause when you do get your medical interview this will be detected and the doctor will not approve your medical until the results of ur tb test are back... they will inform the embassy and usem will reschedule your interview to a later date...... but that depends if the doctor wants to see those results for the medical or he might just rely on the skin test that is standard procedure your situation can go any direction...... Go to st lukes and ask questions that is your best solution...

The USEM is NOT trying to make your life hard and they do not have any plans or intentions to malicously keep you from being with your love... They are just doing their job making sure that you have no communical disease such as TB... It is a matter of public health issue.... Imagine if you HAD TB and it wasn't treated or contained they gave you a visa you came to usa and spread TB to ur fiance, friends strangers would that be fair would that be right? i don't think so.... So just be patient and pray this lump is benign and everything is ok YOU will be with your love of your life it will just be a longer road to get there.... The road to love is rarely an easy one it is almost always filled with obstacles to make you earn your way to love you want to reach... Right now you need to focus on the issues in front of you... Prepping for your interview taking care of these tests.... In the end, all things will tun out ok..... I wish you the best of luck and just be patient determined, unwavering, in time all things will go your way ;) bye bye someone else please contribute maybe someone gots some knowledge they can add..

  22. Just a silly question that only previous interviewees will know the answer to: I'm planning to attend my wife's K3/CR interview. Do married couples get separated and interviewed separately or are they always interviewed together?

I attended my wife's interview in manila and we sat in one room for the interview... it was quite fun :D besides being nervous as hell....

oh btw where do you plan to stay at? when you go there in a hotel/motel?

the best hotel to be at is the bayview hotel right in front of the embassy talking about convenience.. also a good one is duck inn that one rocks but there are others forgot the name one i stayed in for a night cuz everywhere else booked, it was a nightmare nothing worked walked out of the room and walkiing in water the CR OMG yukky... true nightmare.....

lesson learned if you can get your room ASAP don't wait till the last minute cuz you might gets stuck in the hotel from hell like i did lol thank God i could move to another though....

Also... What time is the interview? if yours is like 8am it's best to get in line at 6am.... cuz there will be a million people lining up next to the embassy.... (if you want to sit you CAN rent a chair lol) When the time comes the Guard and a really grumpy lady will yell out certain categories to fall in line...... OH yea watch out for line jumpers!!! oh im going off topic here just going through my experience at the embassy..... Let me say that the biggest and hardest part of the interview is gettting over your own nerves..... And also when you get your number and sit down in the waiting area inside the EMBASSY it is very very important that you don't miss your number being called it is so loud and hectic inside and the speaker isn't loud that you can easily miss it and if you miss your number it could mean ALOONG TIME waiting..... well enough of me talking talking... I wish you the best of luck and hopefully your experience is like mine 3 hrs 58 min's waiting for the interview and 3 minutes actuall interview time and BOOM visa approved...... it was almost as fast as getting a hamburger at MCDONALDS, Also if the consuls want to leave early on the day of your wife's interview they will speed through the interviews and try not to ask lots of questions, thats why i was soo lucky it was friday and they were pushing out interviews left and right to end the day short.... Also, How well and smooth the pre-interview goes with your wife will be a gauge as to how well your interview with the consul will be... If the prescreener has alot of questions and takes time to finish with you and it is not smooth going you may have a little hard questioning from the consul.... That was my experience.... Mine with the prescreener was smooth sailing.. Also, the pre-screeners are very impatient so if your wife has trouble like with fingerprinting etc they will get mad so remember always smile and bring lots and lots of patience and thick skin.... enough of me ranting take care have fun and take care

  24. I really need someones help here. Well I am married to a US citizen and I filed all my forms like I 485 about 3 month ago. Now I was planning on

going to my country for christmas and I heard that there is a form called I 131 that allows you to travel during the time you wait on your greencard.

The only thing what I am concerned about is that someone told me that USCIS dont like you travelling while your application is being processed...

Is that true??? Wont they approve my AOS application even if I got that travel form? I mean then why do they even have a form for travelling if they dont want you to travel?

What should I do? I got my flight already and now I am so confused.

that is true and false..... but depends on your situation

it is true uscis doesn't like you to leave the country while your AOS is pending IF you are here on an overstayed visa or other out of status category... even with a aproved advanced parole you stilll can be subject to the 3 to 10 yr bar upon return to usa and refused entry... even if USCIS approved your advance parole in this case you have no garentees best bet to stay in usa till your case is adjudicated...

on the other side of the coin... It is perfectly ok to go WITH AN approved advance parole in hand and you will come back with no problem if your status when you filed AOS was still valid and legal....

u have to see which category you are in and that will be your answer..... wish you the best of luck
