I'm LPR, Ukrainian citizen, and after getting married here in the US I've updated my last name - added my husband's last name, so it's hyphenated now. All my US paperwork is all good, has my new last name, that's all sorted (just need to update my DL to put the hyphen back in - it was accidentally dropped on my 2yr GC, which is now fixed on my 10yr GC).
Before making any N-400 moves, I think I want to bring my Ukrainian paperwork up to date, and register my permanent residency with the Ukrainian embassy - does doing that make sense? I actually don't even understand what registering my LPR status with the Ukrainian embassy does. If my N-400 gets approved I feel like I still want to keep my Ukrainian citizenship, so I'm trying to figure out what actions would result in the least amount of complications post N-400. Also, if I do save up enough money / have time off to go visit my family in Ukraine, is it better to arrive there with Ukrainian passport, and would it need to have my married last name? 😣 I still have 3 years before I would have to do the 45 y/o photo in my internal passport - but would I need to update my internal passport (which, honestly, no idea how long that would take... plus I don't have "registration" there anymore) before I'm able to update my name in the travel passport?
I'm all kinds of confused, and the web sites for the Ukrainian consulates, embassy, and foreign affairs ministry are confusing me even more.

The marriage certificate functions as a legal name change document regardless of what it contains. If you want to be safe, just list your name with the hyphen as your current legal name, and put it without the hyphen in the other names used section.
Right on, that's what I was trying to figure out - if I can use my name as it is spelled on the GC for both questions. Seems like I can. Just trying to make sure I fill out the form as accurately as I possibly can. I hate RFEs and returned applications, it's so stupidly stressful. Thanks!

Hi guys,
So, apparently I can already file N-400 - married to USC for 4+ years and LPR since 30 Aug 2017. After getting married, I changed my last name on everything I could think of, starting with my SSN card - so it's hyphenated with my maiden name and my husband's last name. When my 2-year GC arrived, they'd dropped the hyphen (I hadn't caught it in the interview for that card). We then moved to a different state, and the local DMV used my GC non-hyphenated last name for the new DL. I haven't changed any of the long-term things (like banking info, SSN card) because I was going to have my name fixed on the 10-year GC anyway.
I've just received my 10-year GC with my last name corrected to include the hyphen. So basically I now have my GC, SSN card and the majority of other stuff (like debit/credit cards) carrying my correct last name, but my current DL has the last name with the error. I've scheduled an appointment at the DMV to get a new DL, but the earliest slot I was able to grab was like the last week of October.
My question is, do I understand correctly that first I should wait for my new DL with correct last name because that would be my legal name? It's just that in the Part 1 of the N-400 form question 1 reads "Your Current Legal Name", and then question 2 is "Your Name Exactly As It Appears on Your Permanent Resident Card", and then the instructions explain that as "Your current legal name is the name on your birth certificate unless it changed after birth by a legal action such as a marriage or court order." The state where we got married doesn't ask "what would you like your name to be now", so the most official thing for the name change that I have is my SSN card.
Hopefully my question makes sense 😬 Thanks!

How long have you been waiting for the card after approval notice?
Approved on July 10th, card mailed on July 29th, in hand on July 31st. More time between approval and mailing of the card than the first time around 3 years ago, but still pretty good.

Anybody who was approved in the last few months got their new GC yet? Just curious how big the delay is.

Hello!
Is anyone has a case in NE ( Lin )? If yes - did you receive your GC and when ?thanks !
There's a thread specifically about LIN processing times, and the first post has a link to a Google Doc file with dates.

Just received status update notification "New card is being produced" 😁

Question to the mods: Should I put today's date as "Approval date" in the Google Docs spreadsheet? Just double-checking, so that I don't screw up the spreadsheet stats.

Got a sign of some movement yesterday - received a notification that my name was updated, so I guess somebody got around to my file. (Hopefully they are putting back the hyphen that they had dropped from my last name while issuing the original GC.)
Filed Aug. 2019, bio Dec 2019. Receipt number starts with LIN.
Like the "fingerprints were taken" update, this one is also only available on the "old" web site, egov.uscis.gov, and not my.uscis.gov (the latter still shows "case received").

Did biometrics yesterday morning (they only took prints of two fingers, weird), and in the evening FINALLY received an update text and email from USCIS. The case status now is "Initial Review". "During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation."
The case is only updated in the traditional dashboard (https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do). The "new site" hasn't updated since receipt notice.

Received the biometrics appointment letter on December 14th. Appointment date December 23rd.

@True_South I check my Informed Delivery e-mail every single day (minus Sunday of course). I always am disappointed when I do not see anything from USCIS. Hopefully for you the letter is the biometrics appointment. I have been hearing that there is a delay in the app or USCIS status changing to correspond to the step you are on.
Good luck and I hope it is the biometrics appointment. If that is the case, then I should hope to get mine after NY.
Thanks! Yea, I love Informed Delivery. I'm just upset that if the letter got lost, I wouldn't have known that I was supposed to get it, because the online USCIS account is not showing any updates. They rely so much on traditional mail here, it's crazy 😕
The letter was indeed my biometrics appointment notification, for December 23rd. The notice date is December 6, sent on December 11 (if I'm reading the stamp correctly), received December 14.

My Informed Delivery dashboard shows I have a letter from USCIS coming, and no changes in my USCIS online account (checked both dashboards). Very annoying that it doesn't update 😕

True_South: I'm in the same boat now, my I130 & I485 status are exactly as you described. Did you receive your Green Card after these status updates from USCIS? Can you please share your experience on how long i should wait for my Green Card or is there anything i should be aware of?
Yea, I have all the dates in my signature. The card took about a week (I think) to arrive. They of course misspelled my last name, so now I want to see if they'll fix it during ROC.

Check cashed an hour ago.

Got the extension letter today (the 26th), issued on the 23rd. Check still not cashed, which is why when I saw a scan of the envelope in my USPS Informed Delivery dashboard, it scared me a little 😖 I thought the first thing they do when they accept a case is charge you, so I was like "whaaaaaat could it beeeeeee?!?!?" 😄
Next step is getting to the FedEx Print and Ship office to get it scanned, and then it's just hoping there won't be an RFE 🤞
Oh! I kinda thought that when they rejected my petition, that receipt number would be my case number going forward (it was EAC). But this one is different, LIN. (Do I change the filing location in my profile to Nebraska then?)

Hi, just a Q.
For the form I-751, did you write the apt. number on the address line 1 or you checked off the apt. then write the number in the box? It doesn't let me type the apartment number in the box lol. I am not sure what to do with it. Thank you-
Yea, I checked the apartment box, which unlocked the apartment number field (which, I think, why they couldn’t process my card, because usually I write my billing address as street number + name + apartment in the same line).
I think their forms only work with Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is the only reason I keep that software on my Mac.

I put the green letter on top of the packet, wrote a check for $680.00 and printed out our letter again.
And then I sent it off.
But you didn’t reprint the whole thing again, right? You mailed back the pages they sent you?

Hi all,
So, apparently when submitting I-751 packet, I somehow filled out the CC Auth form wrong (the only thing I can think of is billing address formatting). So they sent back the whole thing, as they would, and all pages are coded at the bottom. My instinct is to just take off the top sheet, which is the rejection letter, and that leaves the green sheet on the top; and attach a personal check on the very first page under the green sheet (which would be the first page of I-751). And just cross out the mention of the CC Auth form in the cover letter and write "personal check".
Does that sound about right?
PS Also, if the receipt number is to be believed, I was assigned to Vermont Service Center - but I'm assuming I should resend to the lockbox again, right?
-
Disregard what I wrote about the return label, it's just my original label 😂

Do I have to print out EVERY SINGLE page again?😩😩😩
Everything that I sent in now has a barcode at the bottom...
What did you end up doing? I figure I just take the rejection notice off, so that the green sheet is on top, attach a personal check to the next page (which is the first page of I-751), and then use the return label they attached at the bottom of the stack. Not sure what to do with the cover letter that says that I'm including CC Auth form. Just cross that out and write "personal check"? 😂
Trying to figure out what to do with my Ukrainian paperwork before I start N-400

Well, I just thought when we add new photo in the internal passport (at the time it's received originally, and having reached 25 and 45 years of age) it's done at the local passport office. But I do see that "У разі, коли особа не має місця проживання, за адресою якої вона може бути зареєстрована, та з певних причин не може або не бажає отримувати статус бездомної особи, або знята з реєстрації місця проживання для вклеювання фотокартки по досягненню 25 чи 45-річного віку, слід звернутися до територіального підрозділу ДМС України або центру надання адміністративних послуг за останнім зареєстрованим місцем проживання або за фактичним місцем проживання". So I guess that's a way to do it. Too bad the embassy or consulate can't do it here 😕
I was taken off the registration because my parents needed to update their subsidies for utilities, and having me and my brother registered in the apartment even though neither of us even lived in Ukraine at the time, was working against them. So I said "sure, I don't care, do what you gotta do, here's my consent"
