My N400! Application’s time line is 10 months. My goal is citizenship before hell breaks loose in this place. If I get my 10GC great,  if not I don’t care. I came here to become a citizen. Thank you USA 🇺🇸

That was my thought process. GC is temporary but Citizenship is permanent and my ultimate goal. The time line on my N400 says 10 months now.  If I get my 10GC in the meantime-that’s a bonus but looking towards my naturalization.

Very good question I’ve asked it here before and got two different answers :
    1. Apply as soon as you can for N-400 if citizenship is your goal and go through the hassle of infopass extention stars for as long as it takes you to get naturalized citizenship.
    2. Wait until you get your 10yGC first then apply for N-400.
Some people here applied for N-400 and shortly after received notification that their GC was sent for printing.
I was thinking of waiting to get my GC first then apply for N-400.
Depending where you are,  waiting time could be 8-26 months approximately.

At  the end of Sep 2018, I'll be eligible to apply for N400 Naturalization. I received the second extension letter (18m), however I just read on one of the threads that as soon as you apply for N400,  ROC will stop processing application.   Is it better to wait to get the 10yGC first, then apply for N-400 ?   Has anyone experienced that ?  If it's going to take 2 yrs for N-400, meantime no valid GC.  I know I have the ext letters but every time I travel and come back home to US, I scan my GC and it says invalid/expired,  then show first ext letter then second  ext letter. Since my GC expired, my Global Entry / Nexus pass stoped working. I would hate to have to wait for years for Naturalization, with an expired GC.  I somehow thought both I-751 and N-400 could work in parallel, while waiting to get approved for Naturalization, would at least get the 10yGC in the meantime.  please share your experience, much appreciated.

just came back from abroad with only a few days left, before my GC expires.  I was asked if I have a new card I said I have an extention  letter.
They had a blank look on their faces. Honestly I wound't risk it.  They see and look at the card, the letter looks like a piece of paper that anyone could've printed. I felt very uncomfortable. Luckily, I had a Nexus pass, which helped.
It's kind of ridiculous that it takes such a long time to process legal immigrants, who have paid their dues, done the security clearance and paying income tax.
It seems that I worry about following the law and doing the right thing to the best of my ability< when others don't even bother or care and have a free pass for all of it.
