CRPuraVida got a reaction from Skeiamn in I-751 Filers (September 2018)
We just checked the USCIS site and my husband's ROC was approved yesterday! Texas really is moving along finally! I think this has already been established here, but the new site and login with credentials sucks. It has never been updated for us, but when we manually enter the case number in on the normal site it shows updates.
09/24/18 - I751 filed
10/30/19 - Biometrics (originals must have expired)
12/4/19 - Case approved (no notification)
Good luck to all! So happy to be done (for now haha). Maybe we'll try citizenship soon.

Woohoo! Almost 2 months after our interview, we just got a notification that my husband's card is being produced.
Thanks to my congressman's office for helping find our "lost" medical exam paperwork. Even though it took longer, I am thankful we didn't have to re-do it. Also thanks to @CatherineA for your help in contacting my congressman.

My status changed on Friday to say that they mailed it, I was really excited and checked USPS all the time ever since.
The "package" appeared today, 3 days later, so they don't exactly ship it when the status changes... It just means they have it ready to be shipped.
After some hours my status changed again saying that USPS had picked up my card (thanks for letting me know, lol) and it says the tracking number... I observed though, that that doesn't apply to everyone, and I think it depens on how officers deal with your case.
USPS tool is pretty accurate so you'll see it there soon, fingers crossed!
Good luck!!!

CRPuraVida reacted to TBoneTX in Seeking good role model marriages btwn Latinos & US citizens
This is a great and very complex topic.
Part of the answer might simply be "picking an incompatible partner."
Another part might be homesickness.
There's also culture shock, general acculturation, language barriers, and more.
General "readiness for marriage" and capability for commitment are also factors.
In answer to your specific question, Mrs. T-B. has said that both aspects most certainly got better with time. One realization came during her first visit back to Ecu. She wanted to stay for 7 weeks. About halfway through, she called to ask if she could come back early. Apparently, she perceived that her friends were still her friends but had gone on with their own lives, and the lifestyle/convenience/efficiency comparisons between Ecu and the U.S. were revealed as stark. She described this as "When the Motel 6 is all you know, it's fine, but you see the difference after you've stayed at a fine hotel." On her last trip (in 2014), of not quite 5 weeks, she just about couldn't stand it. She's not a spoiled or entitled "princess," either.
Along the above lines, it's worth noting that every country south of the U.S. is a third-world country, with major differences to get used to in every arena of life here. Some Latinas adapt, and some don't.
---
Acculturation/homesickness: On Mrs. T-B.'s second or third weekend here, I began dropping her off at the Spanish-language Sunday services at a nearby Catholic church. I waited to pick her up after the first one. She emerged late, bubbling with excitement, and she eagerly introduced me to a nice older couple whom she'd met. She/we socialized with them and others, met either directly or through secondary contact, for several months.
(Exposing Mrs. T-B. to the Spanish services was a very good idea -- suggested by my own mother -- and not just for pure socializing, but for the quality. Churchgoers are not likely to be lowlifes or a bad crowd.)
Of note, none of those relationships have survived, but it gave her courage first to join other international-type groups (English classes), and later to join groups in which she was the only Latina (new-mommy groups, et al.).
The point of the above is that exposure to other "Spanish people" (as Mrs. T-B. called them), even if not many were Ecuadorian, made her feel welcome and part of something here, and it took the edge off her very real initial homesickness and general uncertainty about life here. I believe that these experiences helped to make her happier in our marriage, because she was happier, more comfortable, and more confident in general.
Russ, you'll have to comment on whether the above are pertinent or valuable observations. Perhaps start by assuring Caro that her friends are not "her" -- she is an individual whose awareness and maturity are unique to her. She and only she is responsible for her own attitude, and it's wrong to permit others to take or spoil it.
She, like Mrs. T-B., apparently married exceptionally late in terms of when Latinas typically marry. Did she by chance hold out for a non-macho -- as did Mrs. T-B., who grew up observing and rejecting the terrible machista behaviors so prevalent in Ecu (and Colombia, and Peru)? The answer might shed light on why some of her amigas' marriages have failed, if the amigas were less careful in selecting their mates.

One of the slowly emerging disappointments for my wife, who only arrived in the US 5 months ago, is a universal failure of marriages between her female friends from Colombia and US husbands. Honestly, this also applies to a couple of friends who married Spaniards and immigrated to Spain, too. Out of about 10 or 12 friends who've married abroad, all have failed in a first marriage and some are failing in second marriages, as well.
My wife is 37 so she comes to this "game" late, as do I (both of us are on our 1st and hopefully only marriage). I tell her that many of her friends married in their 20's and the failure rate is higher for those who marry early. Her group of friends represent a pretty small sample of the total number of marriages between Colombians and Americans, or Latinos in general and Americans. But still, the failure of all of these marriages is depressing, not only to her but me too.
Considering my wife's own continuing difficulties in adjusting to American culture and geography, I am wondering if this isn't a much larger factor than I'd previously thought. One friend who has been here for 5 years and another friend who's been here 10 years, are both moving back to Colombia, for good, after failed marriages. They simply don't like it here. It sort of puts the lie to the idea that everyone in the world is clamoring to live and love in the US.
I guess I don't really have an ask here other than a question to Latinos who participate in this forum of whether your immigration experience and marriage has gotten better with time. I'd like to tell my wife that it gets better, but frankly I don't know if that's true. One option I would consider is to migrate to Colombia or perhaps another Latin American country with her, but it'll take years for it to be feasible for us.
Are there things to do to make the adjustment in the US, more easy? Are longer solo visits back to home countries a good thing to consider?

Hey guys,
I want to share with you some details of my trip to the USCIS office in San Francisco. I made the InfoPass appointment a couple of weeks ago to inquire about the status of the EAD and the AP, whose receipt numbers never worked online. I was gonna cancel the appointment when the EAD's receipt number started to work (not the AP though) this past weekend stating that the card is being produced, but I thought I would just go anyways and inquire about the case in general since it would require another 2 weeks should I need to make another appointment.
These are the questions I asked:
1. Why is the EAD's receipt number working online but not the AP?
- She was surprised that it wasn't working. She tried it herself and it didn't work on her computer. She kept going about how they usually are processed together and they might not be in this case. She wasn't very confident or clear in her answers. She had to go in the back to check. She came back like 5 minutes after and said that they have another system where they can check and she confirmed that it's approved. Right after I got home, the status changed for both the EAD and the AP to "Case Was Approved".
2. If the interview is scheduled one year after the medical exam was done, will I need another one?
- She said that it should be fine and that the medical exam is not only good for one year. Not very confident in her answers again. She kinda hinted that it depends on the immigration officer.
3. Is the background check cleared?
- She said that it should be since they're ready to schedule the interview.
4. How likely will we get an interview waiver since the AOS is based on K-1?
- She said not likely since the AOS status says "Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview".
5. When should we expect to be scheduled?
- Given the processing times, sometime between October and December.
6. If we move to another city, will that delay the interview?
- Not if the city is associated with the San Francisco USCIS office. Yes if it isn't since the case has to be transferred to the corresponding USCIS office! Best to wait until the AOS is done before moving.
7. Is the case assigned to an immigration officer yet?
- Not yet. It's still at service center.
Hope that helps someone with similar issues.

Hello!
Mine arrived on the same day and I haven't received any notification yet either (no NOA1 or check cashed).
There is a thread for January 2015 filers if you want to join. There I saw someone whose application was delivered on the 6th and she received her NOA1 text/email on the 8th! Let's hope for tomorrow (Monday the 11th).
Here's the January 2015 filers thread if you want to follow = http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/529593-january-2015-k1-visa-petition-filers/
Good luck!
P.S. we're both from Georgia, @Racheal17!

CRPuraVida reacted to Lukus in How to Track your Packet from NVC to the US Embassy???
Just Figured this out and I really hope it will give people a little peace at mind.
If you wish to track your packet from NVC to the US Embassy these are the steps;
1. Get your delivery date from the NVC when you get your Case Number. This date is very important if you wish to track delivery.
2. Click on the DHL link http://www.dhl-usa.com/en/express/tracking/shippers_reference.html
3. Locate the track by Shippers Reference box
4. You will see the “Shipper´s Reference” field, if your date from the NVC falls on a Monday you will put the prior Thursday date in this field area and if your date fell on a Friday just go back a couple of days and use that date. It will look like this (example: EXP 31 DEC 2014A). Now it is very important that you use capitol letters and you must put a space in between the “EXP” and the “31” and “DEC” “2014A”. Now you will notice there is not a space between the “2014” and the “A”
5. Locate the “Date range for shipment – From” and in this first field is the “Day” and in this field you will go back 2 days from the date you had typed in the Shippers Reference Field, (example, the day will be 28 if you are using the example EXP 31 DEC 2014A).
6. Next to the “Day Field” is the “Month” Field and in this field you will put the month, (example the 12 is for DEC).
7. The next field is the Year Field and you put that year.
8. Next step you will locate the “Date range for shipment – To” and you will just add 8 days from the “Date range for shipment – From”
9. There is no need to put anything else to these areas, just push “Track”.
10. You notice all the different packets sent to different countries will populate in this area.
11. Locate the “Show All” and press this link and it will give you more details of the items shipped. Now for security reasons it will not show the names on the packets themselves. It will just show the person signing for them.
12. Now scroll down and locate your date that was provided by the NVC.
13. Next locate the country of the US Embassy.
14. Next you will see the in the same area a number on the right side with a plus (+) symbol and a number. This number is how many packets were sent out on your day.
15. Press this link and a group of other numbers will appear and these are the tracking numbers for the packets. You have the option to copy and paste these set of numbers in the tracking field and that single packet will appear. Then you have the option to print this page and the bottom and save it. But, you have to be aware there are no names of the individual packets. You have to only go by the date that the NVC gave you.
I really hope this will help if so just press the up arrow at the bottom of this message. I am trying to collect points.
