  1. I checked my case status at the old site: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do and got this notification

But when I checked my status on the new site: https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/

It still says fingerprint reviewed. I am not sure if this says I am approved or not since the two sites are not aligned.

Are there people that have their card that only have the updated status on the old site?

    Thank you!

That's good to know. You need the passport photocopies, original passport(unless you like paying $100 extra), and your birth certificate. If you don't have your BC then you can go to ecensus to get it sent to you. The current timeline is about 3-12 weeks. My wife did hers at the end of April and just got it back last week.

Did you received the passport by mail? We will be driving to san francisco this november to renew my passport. I have an original copy of my birth certificate. I ordered multiple copies of birth and marriage certificate from ecensus before moving here. Gotta be prepared! Though, I think I only one original copy of birth certificate left and will order later when I visit Philippines.

Thank you so much for all the help!

Please follow the link below for the San Francisco Consulate. Have you already completed ROM or are you going to do that at all?

I already have my name changed to my husband's surname on my passport before we applied for CR1. It seems I only need the epassport photocopies and original.

    Thank you for the information!

  4. Got a job 1 month after moving here. I am on Actuarial Science field and I guess I am lucky as there are very few people who take this course and is always on demand. Though, the first job I got is not on this field. It is a programmer job but I got bored after a month as that job is not meant for me so I quit. But I found the Actuarial science job before I quit the programmer job. Been here with my job for almost two years and loving it.

I do have a driver's license, though, I do not drive to work as there is a bus that goes through my workplace and just few minutes walk.

I believe it help me a lot when I got a US reference before moving here. I worked in a BPO company in the Philippines with main office in Pennsylvania and my bosses there knew I am moving here and they agreed to be my reference.

I applied on hundreds of job applications before landing my first job. I polished my resume and like some poster said use the key words from the job description you are applying to.

  5. The I-551 stamp in your passport is valid for 1 year.  I believe this serves as a legal document until your physical green card arrives. Then, you will receive your green card in the mail within few months and that will have 2 years validity.

90 days before the expiry of your conditional green card you will then be eligible to apply for the removal of conditions.

Sponsors are required to submit tax returns for 3 years but my sponsor become US Permanent resident in 2016 and he have tax return for 2 years only 2016 and 2017 but his annual income is more than poverty guideline. Is that acceptable?

Write a letter for 2015 explaining why no tax return. Just say he just started to be a PR in 2016. and have him sign it.

They will look at current income so if your joint sponsor is above poverty guideline then you should be fine. Just remember to include recent paystubs, job letter, evidence of him being a US resident which is the scanned copy of his green card along with his tax documents.

  7. My husband is the same as you. He did not file taxes for the last 3 years when he filed my CR1 due to him being a student and not sufficient income.

Your petitioner needs to fill out I-864 along with a signed explanation.

Then, your joint sponsor will fill out another I-864 along with the tax documents. We did not submit tax transcript for my joint sponsor just the tax forms along with W-2 and other tax documents he used to file taxes on the recent 3 years, 5 recent pay stubs and a letter from my joint sponsor's company confirming that he is a current employee.

But as much as possible submit tax transcripts.
