  1. I became a US citizen during the pandemic (in 2021) and got my US passport. I have never travelled back to Canada since though (due to pandemic and financial reasons) so I have been unable to visit a Nexus office to update my enrollment.

Is there any way for me to update the enrollment without visiting a Nexus office? Will they even let me do it now as it has been almost 2 years? Last time I called them all the offices were closed and they said I had to visit an office.

I called them after the offices opened and they said I had to visit an office. But the people on the phone never seem sure, or don't have the right info?

Should I call back and ask them what I should do now?

That's incredibly frustrating! Why did they make people trek all the way there only to have a physical sign on the door saying they were closed? Perhaps an employee inside tested for Covid? I've never heard of this before.

    Yeah I don't know.

My status online last night switch to "Interview cancelled".

They didn't give any other info in person or not besides the sign saying "The system is down" but I didn't see anything on USCIS so I am guessing maybe local to that office. Maybe they lost their internet connection or something.

Thankfully I live very close to the office, but I know other people have to drive hours. So that would really suck.

And now of course no idea when I will be scheduled again.

  3. I have my N-400 interview scheduled today in San Antonio, TX. I got to the interview and waited in my car till right before 15 minutes early. I noticed people going to the door waiting for a few and then being turned away. I thought they were there too early maybe.

When I walked up to the door there was a hand written sign and a security guard outside telling everyone that all ceremonies and interview were canceled for today as the system was down.

The security guard was saying to check the portal and we would get rescheduled.

Has anyone experienced this? Any idea when I might hear about this? The portal still shows as interview scheduled. I also looked at the USCIS website and there is a page for field office closures and there is nothing on it for the San Antonio office.

    Hi there

I got approved both and in line to be scheduled for Oath Ceremony. I received N-400 interview letter on Nov 30th for interview on Jan 6th, then 1.5 week just before the interview, I received another letter for I-751 interview with same date, time and location with N-400.

I took my spouse with me to my interview. I took updated tax transcripts, bank statement, health/auto/life insurance, some pictures, that's all. I handed all to the officer that interviewed me but he didn't even bother looking at them.

My interview was scheduled on 1.10pm but wasn't called til 2.15pm (Atlanta Field Office). It was super simple. I bought some of updated documents like bank stt, proofs of health insurance, Auto/Home insurance, utility bills... Officer asked me if I wanted to provide him any updated documents, i handed to him all, He took them but didn't bother look at them. He asked my husband (the petitioner - USC) :
How we met? when did we got married? any child (no)?
Then He said he thinks that there's no issue so he will approve this I-751, then move to N-400 questions, He asked my husband to step out and wait outside. N-400 questions, writing, reading was all simple, then he had me confirm my info what will be on my Citizenship Cert.
Then that was it. He said he will submit the case for quality review, then it should be approved.
What I need to do is just wait.
     good luck.

Did you bring originals of things like birth certificate and marriage certificate? Do they give the originals back?

    Same case here.

I just submitted online one hour ago.

I was also going to wait at least a couple of years more...

Yeah, I thought the fee now was pretty expensive...so was waiting till we had the free income. But it going up so much...yeah. Mind you now that the judge has stopped it who knows what will happen.

  6. 3 minutes ago, ch3john said:

Doesn't look normal. Check it tomorrow and if it says the same thing then call. Since you just submitted it, it could be and temporary error message. Or, log back in and see if you can see anything missing

Yeah....I swear USCIS is like....stress in a bottle haha.

Thanks for the support. I tried logging out and back in and no luck. Least now I know the fees are not going up yet.

My wife filed on a Sunday night and got the confirmation letter by email on Monday.

Oh, the fees aren't going up. A federal judge blocked the increase. Don't sweat it!

Any idea if seeing this error message on the page now is normal? I am thinking not....

"Your application has not been submitted. Although we have received your payment, you or your representative needs to call USCIS at 1 (800) 375-5283 in order to finish submitting your application."

  8. Just got this status update in the portal....

"Your application has not been submitted. Although we have received your payment, you or your representative needs to call USCIS at 1 (800) 375-5283 in order to finish submitting your application."

Any ideas what this could mean?

  9. Hello all,

I was just curious, so I just filed today (literally 20 minutes ago) so that we could pay the lower fee. We were going to wait for the 5 year mark just to be able to provide less documentation, but with the fee change, decided to do it.

I should be good having filed today though right? It says it takes 72 hours for case information to show on the site, but they already billed my credit card for the $725.

Has anyone else filed quicker then they would have just because of the fee change?

    Thanks!

  10. I am filling out my N400 application and have a bit of a question on what to put name wise.

So I have a middle name, that is on my birth certificate from Canada, but I never really used it in Canada, my drivers license, passport, etc. only have my first and last name.

When I did the I-130 I did put my middle name on everything but my visa, and my PR card are all just with first and last name, as I am pretty sure they just match what is on my Canadian passport.

So what should I put on the N400? Do I put middle name? Do I put anything under other names used?

All my documents in the US (drivers license etc.) are only with my First and Last Name.

  11. I am curious about this being caused by fees though. Have people really stopped applying for immigration during this time? Processing times are years for most things, so I feel like people would still be applying for most of the family based Visas. Not sure about business/working ones. But all those family ones are checks that they could be cashing and gathering fees on.

  12. 3 minutes ago, Paul & Mary said:

Shouldn't be an issue.  Mary got her initial Global Entry last year and other than confirming her identity, they only asked her one question - "So you been to Nepal?".

Ah, my initial interview was kinda rough. They were worried at the time I was working in the US (as I traveled for business a good bit) so had to prove my Canadian employment at the time.

  13. 15 hours ago, Paul & Mary said:

I'm probably the only non-Canadian NEXUS card holder here - it is half as much as Global Entry!

Log onto the portal and you may have already been extended.  If not you should be able to start the renewal online and may not need an interview. If you do need an interview they outreach events in the US. I think you can only see those once there is a conditional approval.   I needed to redo my biometrics and was able to do it in Dallas at an outreach.

Yeah I think I will start the renewal and just see how it goes. You would think after all the checks for immigration, they wouldn't have much they want to see now....but who knows maybe CBP will be fine and now CBSA will have an issue haha.

Did you go to a NEXUS Enrollment Center to provide them with your US Permanent Resident status after you entered with the immigrant visa? https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/prog/nexus/contact-coordonnees-eng.html

Yes, I have gone back every year so I have updated the card twice (when I had my conditional card and now that I have my 10 year one). I did just move (we bought a house) and I updated my mailing address...sadly they don't let you update the residency one. I am worried all the changes since my initial and they are going to want an interview for sure! haha

I completed mine online last year after I moved here to NC.  It took a while but eventually they mailed it to me.  I am sure it will take even longer now to send it but it will happen.

Did you go in for an interview?

At the moment they aren't doing interviews. I haven't done what you have asked yet but it does say people who renew before they cancel get an automatic 18 month extension. Maybe you can do that? If you find out I would love to know as I plan on doing the same thing.

I will try to do this and see what happens. Need to make my list of travels for the last 5 years, then will fill out the application.

  15. Hello all! Hope everyone is doing well. My Nexus card is going to be expiring in August and I wanted to renew it online. Thing is I don't live anywhere near an enrollment center for Nexas (moved from Canada to Texas when I immigrated here to be with my wife), has anyone renewed their Nexas card after moving to the US? Did you have to go in for an interview?

I don't travel much now but even the 1-3 times a year the Nexas/TSA Pre benefits are great. So hoping to keep the card. for the trips back to Canada and in the US.

    Thanks!

Hi there, could you please share with us the wording of your Vermont transfer notice? I know it might be reading too much between the line, but my case got transferred to Nebraska recently and the notice reads case was transferred "after preliminary review" or something along that line, I was just wondering if that means anything. I also have not received biometrics appointment or letter indicating biometrics will be re-used.

    Thanks,

I don't actually have it with me right now. It didn't say anything about review, just that it was being transferred and I believe it talked about balancing workloads.

I can check but won't have access to it until Monday.

Thank you so much brentos, this gonna add and help some of us with ur info, so we can see the queue list :)

    Congrats again!

    You're welcome.

I actually think they messed up my green card...says no fingerprint on it...which apparently can cause issues...so now need to figure that out...one more USCIS step LOL.

Hopeful thoughts on a quick approval for everyone waiting!

    Approved Date: 2019-02-14

Service Center: California. I was transferred to Vermont on 2019-01-04

I have not applied for N400

  19. So my ROC was approved and yesterday I received my new 10 year green card.

There seems to be an issue though. Everything else on the card looks good but where the finger print should be it is just an empty white box and inside a black frame it says "fingerprint not available".

I did my biometrics and the picture on the card is from that appointment where they also took my fingerprints. My old conditional card had my fingerprint. Has anyoje else received a card witg this same notation? Is it an error I need to correct?

I found an old thread where someone recommended and Infopass but the office near me is not accepting appointments.

Not sure what I should do, i don't want cbp to question me when I travel, etc.

    Thanks

  20. Hello all,

I just got my new card in the mail.

Hoping for approvals for you all soon.

One weird thing is my new one, where the fingerprint used to be just has a white box and says "fingerprint not available"

Did anyone else have this on their new card? I did do my biometrics and the picture on the card is the one they took when I was there that day when they also took my fingerprints.

Wondering if this is normal or not.

Is it a good or a bad thing if your case got transferred and a new office has jurisdiction over your case?

Mine got transferred and then I got approved a month later. So I guess it could be good.

It is really just distributing workload though I believe in most cases. So your case getting approved or not or approved without interview etc. really depends on individual case.

But I would say time frame wise it could mean someone is going to look at it sooner.

I am a dec filter but still waiting. My extension letter will expire end of this month, I am trying to contact USCIS, no dates available. Is it legal to live here without any extension letter?

You should have received an 18 month extension letter. Did you not?

You need the extension as technically you are still legal but you need proof of it.

I would call USCIS and say you never received your 18 month extension if you did not.
