You are referencing an archived article.  Hand-written signature is required.  It's explicitly stated in the I-864 form instructions -- https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-864instr.pdf
 
What's not required is a "wet" signature at the time of interview.  This simply means that the I-864 to be brought to the interview can be a print-out of the scanned I-864 uploaded to CEAC.

That would be the safest approach -- hand-write signature and date.
 

Ok to list yourself as preparer.  Form is digitally signed, so either you or your mom can click the Submit button to "sign".
 

Hi just an update, I had filed for my mother on 4/4/22 .I received the notification that it was approved and sent to nvc 2 days ago. And just received the email from nvc with case no. Hope everyone journey be smooth and successful.

This also happened to me. When I checked it was just letting me know that the  Receipt Notice was generated which can be found under the document tab.

Yes, that likely means they generated the Receipt Notice, basically confirming it was received. If you log in to your account and go to Documents (under each application), you should see the PDF there.

Yes ..and most people don’t know/remember or have copies of Petitions they have done 15 years back ( let’s say for a brother or sister)…so putting in “ UKN = unknown is perfectly ok.  That applies to every question pretty much.
