We were at the beach writing in the sand, and I saw he started to write my name: Shanae and then Ma... I thought he was writing my middle name Marie but then it turned into "Marry Me" it was really cool because I wasn't expecting it! I thought he was just going to write my full name

Politically correct feminist posturing in America is to denigrate traditional values with malicious terms and most especially the sneering derision about women who want to be wives and home makers. No choice is better than any other in a free country, I just hate to see how nasty feminist-correct propaganda is with their hypocritical mocking of traditional values. So you want to have a career and pursue your own interests until 40? No problem. Just don't be nasty about women who choose otherwise, and pretend there is something wrong with them.
The way they do it is attack the man and say "you just want a submissive maid". It is the person uttering that phrase that is trying to dehumanize wives/home-makers/mothers, not the husband. A guy like me thanks his lucky stars every morning, noon, and night that he has his babe back in the cabin in case a half ton log crushes him today out in the woods. Nobody can even find me if I get hurt besides my wife. This lifestyle is impossible without traditional values. So for us it not only works but is imperative and whose business is it but ours? It is an hour each way to town so she bakes cookies instead of zipping out to buy them in a car. We have more than a hundred pounds of rice and flour each, a quarter ton of various meats. Etc. We don't go anywhere except as a family for months at a time.
Occasionally I start to clean a dish or put something away and my wife chases me away. What are you doing?! I suppose if she went out and started welding stuff in the shop I'd chase her off too. So I understand where you are coming from. It stands to reason that with traditional values held in such contempt for the women that conversely the men aren't going to show much either. Both my wife and I were so thrilled when we met each other, and it came down to traditional values, namely we have two kids we are raising, homeschooling, the husband working the subsistence/homesteader lifestyle.

I was hosting an English class online on Google+ and he happened to show up in the middle of it. His English was really impressive, a bit intimidating because I thought he would steal my thunder as I was teaching. After class he invited me to a private video call and then we just started talking until it became an everyday thing

If you are refering to the I-134, it is non binding, so no-one will come after a co-sponsor. That being said, the IRS is not involved other than you need to have filed/ paid taxes. The government would come after the sponsor- you- first if the beneficiary uses means tested government benefits; if you have no money, they would come after the co-sponsor.
Can you explain more why your mother can only sponsor for AOS? Might it be worth delaying the visa process some to enable her to sponsor both parts of the process?

The IRS does not come after anyone, for any affidavit of support, legally binding or not. The legally binding I-864 used for AOS is a contract with the government, and not the IRS. If the immigrant was to receive public assistance, then the government could go after the USC petitioner/sponsor to pay it back. If they didn't, then it would be possible for the government to then go after the joint sponsor to repay it. I have not heard of a joint sponsor being sued by the government, if that puts your joint sponsor at ease any.
