Lots of information in the pinned topic about visiting during the process.  Good idea to read it.

Visiting, simply is not a problem.  The only timing issue, is that sometimes if you file the I-130 (You do not file a CR1.) when the foreign spouse is in the USA, USCIS sometimes gets confused and thinks the person is adjusting status instead of seeking an immigrant visa.  They sometimes make this mistake when you do everything right.  It causes delays later.  Otherwise, it really doesn't matter if you file before or after the visit.  She will have an easier time on entry if she purchases her ticket separately from yours, so you are not technically traveling together on paper.  Same flight or not makes no real difference.

Relax, take a deep breath, and slowly go through each form. Most questions are self-explanatory. It also helps to download the instructions; you may find useful tips in there. Good luck!

Read the line right above question 46a. Questions 46a-d only have to be completed if the beneficiary is currently in the US.

You are your spouse's husband.  Put your information first and indicate spouse or husband, on your spouse's I-130.  Then do the same for each of her children whether they are immigrating with her or not.  You will need a separate I-130 form for each of YOUR stepchildren than are coming.  Those children will not have a spouse or children, so ( on their respective forms) just put NONE in the first blank of that section and leave the rest blank.

You can produce 2016 tax return with all supporting W2s and 1099s and anything else you used to file tax return, in place of tax transcript.

Tax transcript is not an absolute necessity.

    Good luck for the interview.

You DO NOT email a copy of DS261 for electronic processing.  You fill out the DS261 online only.
