If Ghana has high fraud then they need to add additonal qualifications for the type of proof they are looking for in the instructions when you apply. Ask for specific evidence and take the mystery out of the situation. Don't let people submit forms from the generic list of requirements. Obvioulsy, those requirements are not adequate for most African countries. If the burdern of proof is going to be at a higher standard , just state it up front. Then people can prepare to give more information than what is required for the filing. Let petitioners know up front, and not wait until 2 years later at the interview can claim fraud. Because waiting for almost 2 years later and then getting a denied without providing an answer why is anguish. So of course people are going to be pissed.

    VISA WAHALA

The US Embassy in Ghana is the gift that keeps on giving! My husband's interview was on the June 22nd. He was approved,   BUT his visa is still not ready. They told us it would take 2 weeks. He went to the DHL pickup office  today(I don't know why they have outsourced this to DHL) and they said come back next week! The website to track the visa doesn't work.

How did take to receive your passport back with the visa?  We were hoping he would be here by the July 22nd for a family reunion.

Yes, I am the petitioner. I will scan the letter to my husband so he can print it and take it to the embassy.  I am not sure if the letter came from the GH embassy because the postage looks like it was done in the US. My case was reaffirmed in  November.  I don't remember the exact date.

You have to be the change you want to see, so I want to do an official petition to review practices at the embassy in Ghana. I was talking with a friend who used to work in D.C. for a government office and she said she would draft the petition for me. I want to be do an official petition to the US government to review the practices at the embassy in Ghana. Do you all think it would receive the 100,000 signatures to receive a official response?

I think all interviews should be recorded, because the Ghana embassy is notorious for denying K1 and CR1 visa. I think their system is very biased. If you look through the department of state website, most of the African countries have romance fraud warning posted, yet they are not posted on other countries website. I think this is a clear bias and people are being discriminated against. I would like to see the number of denials the Ghana embassy has compared to approvals. The system clearly needs to be fixed. Why turn in all the documentation and and wait a year and a half or so to have someone turn you down on a hunch or feelings. Secondly, there needs to be a post review process. Why should one person be allowed to reset the whole entire process. The system is already slow and congested. Sending it back to the US for 6 more months of waiting is beyond ridiculous.
US immigration operates at the 3rd world country pace. It's truly sad.

"For those who wanted to challenge me, to try and be more clever or devious or whatever, well, my easiest recourse was an addressed envelope to USCIS."
Perfect example of how a CO gets to think they are all powerful. This statement shows that of you challenge his godhood he will ignore his duty and take vengeance.
There is nothing against making a transcript of the event. Yes the CO will try to downplay it, but I bet their attitude is different when a record is being created of what is going on. Why does immigration win so often , the got to court with their "notes" from the interview and the other party didn't make notes during it. If both parties took notes then one would not be able to pull that "advantage" over the other.

COs dont lie? LOL dont be silly. You talk as if you know them personally. If pastors can lie than COs can lie. Use critical thinking and stop giving people bad advice.

CO's can be rude and that is not the opinion of someone that was refused a visa. When the CO asked if my husbands father had died because he married a white woman we were granted a visa and there was no excuse in the world for that comment. Most CO's have an IQ slightly above the gardener ( good clerks are not the sharpest ) . If they were the highly skilled people they see themselves as they wouldn't get it wrong so often. A lengthy presentation about the country please. The Mormon church does a better job at training missionaries about the culture and customs. With the US economy being what it is there are frequently 100's of applicants for job so only a small percentage make the grade.

OP, don't do it, it will tick them off. Take an extra supplement for memory and sniff some rosemary essential oil, very good for memory.
Focus on listening, you could miss something if you scribble and it looks odd. Interact if they let you and help convince them, not make them
raise an eye brow. It's not a lecture in a class room, it's a "let's get this done and bring him home" kind of thing

I have read so many people with this same dilemma and I reached out to my contact at my senators office to question her about it. This was her response:
If the interviewing officer denies the visa, the case file is then sent back to USCIS as a consular return. USCIS will review the application again and decide to uphold the Consulates denial or send back for an additional interview. You are welcome to file a complaint with the Office of the Inspector General within the Department of State by using this link: https://oig.state.gov/hotline
So by all means everyone report these co's!

I have contacted one of my senators and I'm waiting on a response. I did not mention that they are tax funded employees. I highlighted the rude behavior that is ongoing at the embassy and the complaints of many. Regardless of how they are funded, they are still are still federal workers and they represent the US at the embassy. It's torture enough waiting months on end for an interview, so there no need for the mind games at the interview.

My CO asked me the same thing. I applied for a K1 visa first and was denied. I had already purchased a dress, deocrations, shoes, etc. So we just moved the wedding to Ghana since we were going to be married regardless. She she said she just didn't understand why I would spend 3 years trying to get my husband to the be with me. Good luck with the I-130. I pray it goes better than mines.

OMG...The black lady CO is just crazy. We had her as well and we were denied the K-1. She asked me why did I ever come to Ghana in the first place, I volunteered. She said it doesn't make sense me coming to Ghana. I have friends there and she just wanted to say ugly things to me. I was floored at the entire experience. It seems like we had the same interview. It's the most messed up Embassy. This woman is off her rocker!!! Yes something needs to be done. I am getting ready to file the I-130 and if we have her again interview time, I just don't know what we would do!!
I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

Yes, when the ambassador left he should have taken those moody COs with him. I plan on contacting my reps, senatators and writing a letter to the White House. It really make no sense for federal workers, who are funded with tax payer dollars to be behaving this way. No one else would be able to keep their position behaving like they do.
