  2. Thank you for your reply. I didn’t want to make the story long... the last answer was background check... but the previous communications never mentioned background checks , they would just tell me it’s still within processing times ... Also, I read on a forum, that USCIS is required to clear background check before scheduling an interview. I haven’t been outside the country since the interview ... so what are the checks for ?

  3. Hello guys,

i would like to share my N400 Hoping someone can give me an advice.

I submitted my n400 at the end of January 2020, biometrics in February, uscis closed because of the pandemic, September 2020 did my interview : Officer handed me a paper saying Recommended for approval , he told me I shall receive the oath letter within 3 weeks... months have passed , I tried calling , going to the Jacksonville office... and they always said to keep waiting... my case is outside the processing time , and I submitted an inquiry, the response was USCIS has reviewed your Service Request.  According to USCIS records, we are unable to move forward with your application until the required background checks have been completed.  At this time, we are unable to determine when the adjudication of your case will be completed and no further action is required from you.  We apologize for any inconvenience caused by delays in processing.

I also contacted the Us representative and senator in January but haven’t heard any feedback yet.... yesterday I submitted an inquiry to CIS ombudsman.

thank you in advance for your replies

  4. I just finished my interview :

I checked in , and waited in the waiting area with other people. There were several windows... and I didn't think the interview would be in front of everyone. Anyway, the officer was very nice and polite.

We started by the swearing, then the questions : I answered all correct : Who was president during the great depression ? Who vetoes bills ? what s the capital of your state ? who is the chief justice ? who is the vice president ? Who is your US representative ? , then I had to read on the iPAd : Who can vote ? and I had to write : Citizens can vote .

We then went over the NO questions and speeding ticket ( only had one) .

We went over the oath : while asking me questions, I got emotional and tears in my eyes of happiness.

I was told the oath would be in few weeks, I wonder how long does it take for it to show on my account. It still shows : Scheduled for interview.

You were going to buy a motorcycle in Canada and import it into the USA? Possible, but it is a tough sell.

Correct, that it isn't illegal to carry that amount in the USA. However, sometimes people who carry that amount of cash got the cash illegally.

What is illegal is failing to declare that much cash into certain countries. Such as Canada. There are others with even lower thresholds.

I was not going to buy the motorcycle in canada. I was going to visit my cousin in canada for 3 days. the money was on me for my trip and for the motorcycle that I would find on my way back to Florida. I still have the money and haven't bought the motorcycle yet.

If the money was hidden in my  car ... the penalty would have been 5000 dollars.

Not illegal. But it can certainly raise questions as to the source, to ensure it is not involved in illegal activities, smuggling, etc.

But they addressed that concern already, and I don't expect an IO to overrule or question their judgement. I would not expect it to become a GMC issue.

Exactely, they seized the money and I had to show them my bank account, proof where the money came from. They were convinced it was not for terrorism or money laundering... that's why I got to get my money back. 250 penalty was for failing to declare them. Thank you guys for the answers. I just did not want it to mess up the GMC.

  7. I wanted to visit Canada and drove to it from Florida. I didn’t know how much cash I had exactly on me since I was always stopping at hotels, gas stations, restaurants... I knew I had less than $8k US dollars. After counting the money (Many bills of $1 $5 $20 $100), they seized it because it was a little bit over 10k Canadian dollars. After I answered their questions... they went to a room for 30min. They said : we believe you are an honest person, you told us the truth and didn’t hide anything. We are going to give you your money back.
I had to pay a penalty of 250 Canadian dollars.
I believe this should be disclosed on my N400 as detained. Can it be a cause of denial ?
    Thank you

  8. I am a permanent  resident since May 1st 2015 :
I have travelled 5 months abroad in 2015 and 2016.
2017 I have no left the US (no trips abroad)
    2018 : I was out from April 8  to September 10 (5 months and a week)
Now we are in 2019 : I would like to travel for one month from January 15th to February 15th and from April to June ( 3 months ).
Will I be breaking residence by traveling again ? is there a 12 month period or does immigration look at the 30 months over the 5 years as a whole

Im looking to submit N400 in 2020.

    thank you

    happy new year

Hi guys, I got the same thing on my informed delivery and already opened the letter it is basically USCIS saying that they have my case in the record and my residency was extended for 12 months but since there are delays they are sending a new letter for 18 months which doesn't make sense because I already made an appintment to get my passport stamped for another year back in April.

I assume you are getting the same letter, my case is still pending though. They actually sent me a RFE 2 weeks ago I was going to send the documents they asked earlier today and then I saw the informed delivery I wait until I got the actual letter.

It's been a very long wait 18+ months... hopefully they will approve my case soon.

    Good luck everyone

Let’s see what Creme Brûlée will get.

Did your letter include 2 pages ?

THANK YOU! OMG.... I would of NEVER guessed that. It's funny how they approved it 4 weeks after the senator contacted him. I called them this morning to see if they would tell me what the letter is for because we are not home until tomorrow but they wouldn't tell me.

I don’t know what it is ! I’m out of the country with my green card that I have received 2 weeks ago in the mail, and I also got the approval letter which was in one page ! This one shows 2 pages and I have no idea what it is .

I should be able to get it tonight. I’d still say not to worry about it much on your vacation since you already have the permanent green card in hand. It would have to be a glitch. I don’t see any newer updates since case was approved and card mailed on myuscis.gov

Thank you Crème Brûlée 👍🏻 Let’s wait for tonight and find out 🙏🏻
