  1. Hello, Our Adjustment of Status (AOS) interview was yesterday. The officer was friendly and professional. He even corrected a minor mistake in the application regarding a date. During the interview, they asked many detailed questions about our previous marriages, including specific dates and details—not just whether they were terminated. Throughout the interview, the officer repeatedly said, “I am making my decision,” but they did not provide a final answer at the end. Instead, they told us we would receive the decision in a few weeks, or sometimes it may take months. We offered to provide additional evidence, but the officer said it was not necessary and that they had everything they needed. We have a few questions to better understand the process: Is it normal for the officer not to provide an immediate answer? Are the interviewing officers also the ones who make the final decision? When should we expect to hear back regarding the outcome? We noticed a pink-colored carton paper in the officer’s files—does that indicate anything about our case? Should we take any action now, or simply wait for USCIS to notify us? What is the typical timeline for receiving the green card after the interview? We received a white paper, which is the Notice of interview results, first option ( your case being held for review at this time... We want to make sure we understand the process and next steps correctly.
  2. Thank you. Do I also need to prepare an affidavit statement from friends and family for the AOS interview?
  3. Two quick questions: 1- Do I have to change my wife's name? I believe this will connect things, as some documents will be her maiden name and others will be her married name. We were thinking to do when we apply for the N400. Any thoughts on that? 2- Can I get her an ID before our interview? Are we going to be allowed to do so?
  4. Do I have to upload any new unsolicited evidence, such as our recent tax return, to my online account or wait till the interview?
  5. Thank you, Do you know where I could find an affordable interpreter? I mean, link or something. Can it be like a friend who can speak both languages fluently? Does it have to be an official interpreter? Is intermediate English risky for an AOC interview?
  6. So we have an AOS interview in a few weeks, and my wife does not speak English fluently. The letter stating "If you don't speak fluent English, you should bring an interpreter to the interview." I do speak English Fluently but my wife does not - She is more intermediate. Do I have to hire an interpreter, or will I be enough since I will attend the interview with her?
  7. Thank you! I already went there today, and they said I need to schedule an appointment first. It might take more time than I anticipated. Do I have to obtain the Social Security card before I get married? When and how should I change my name? I believe it may get confusing to change the name while I am trying to apply for an adjustment of my status. Should I change the name or wait till I get to N400? Can I apply for a Social Security card the same day I get married?
  8. Applying for an SS Card almost a month and a half after arriving and before getting married for a K1 visa - Is that late? Does the Form I-94 really expire for the Social Security office? Did I screw up? What documents do I need to apply for an SS card?
  9. Thank you, and I will keep you all updated.
