It looks like the latest news for USCIS says , that you have to be present , when your Greencard is delivered, give your signature and present ID. At the website they recommend to track the delivery with USPS Informed Delivery option.

that is good for a lot of people but for someone like me.. we send all our mail to my in-law's house because there were times that our mail got lost if sent to our apartment.. do you think it's the same when usps misses the delivery/person? That they leave a note and you can pick it up? I would definitely use the tracking.. I'm just worried since some filers received their greencard without even seeing an update on their status online.

Good day everyone! Thank God I finally received my Approval Notice (I-797 Notice of Action) in the mail today! I am a May 2017 filer and was not able to put my name in your May 2017 file but I have been following this thread. If anyone can put me on your file if that will help for all of you guys still waiting or I will gladly answer any questions you may have!

I hope the rest will be able to hear a favorable response very soon too! God Bless everyone and have a Blessed Easter! 🐣

    congrats!!!!

may I ask do you also check your case status online? Does it also say there you got approved? Or they just mailed you the approval notice and the status didn't update?

USCIS site remains the same when I checked it couple of minutes ago. Something like they received my case last February 28 at local office.

oh haha sorry my forum didn't update just saw this!

  3. when I used to visit my sister, the first visit I only planned 1 month and ended up staying for 3 months. Your allowed stay or at least when I used to do it, the POE officer stamps until when you can stay. So as long as she doesn't overstay the stamped, she will be fine.

  4. HI,

A few months ago I have renewed my passport. I do already have my greencard and extension letter (in the process of ROC).. I just found out that I have misplaced my old passport with my old CR1 visa in it.. would I be needing it at any point?

I am very worried. Luckily before I did the process of renewing my passport, I scanned ALL the pages of my old passport.

    Thank you in advance

Nearly sent to secondary today at LAX with expired GC and the I-797 extension. This hasn't been a problem before,  but today we're fast pproaching the expiration of the I-797 and the IO wanted to use 1 year from the I-797 RECEPT date and was talking secondary. I strarted to tell him that was a common question among us and it was 1 actually year added to the green card expiration date. Knew immediately that was big no no. Look on his face was clear. He wasn't going to be told correct or incorrect by an applicant and spouse. Backpedaked a bit and finally sent on our way like he was doing is a favor.

when's your I-797 due to expire?

It says k1 visa have restrictions.  U can only apply new one after 2 yrs. Im sad for my friend.

yes as a friend it's sad for her, her love story didn't end well and now she has to go back home.

but it's better to follow the rules, don't commit any fraud.. She might regret her decision if she overstays.

don't worry, your friend will be fine.

My wife and I traveled to the Philippines this past November.  She traveled with her expired green card and extension letter.  We encountered NO problems during the trip.  Philippine immigration and Japanese immigration agents had no issues with the extension letter.  We traveled United airlines passing through Tokyo to and from Manila.  Suggest you travel with the original extension letter.  We always travel with our marriage certificate but have never been asked for it.  Better safe than sorry.  You do not need to file anything before departing the US.  Relax and enjoy your trip home.

thank you for this. :)  that's great to hear it won't be a problem and I won't need to do an extra step. again, thank you!
