I am a US citizen and I petitioned my spouse and on march 3rd will be one year since I filed.  What can I do if I do not get any response to my application.  I check on line and says under active review since they send the receipt back in March 2022.  The USCIS portal where you enter your information and it tells you when you should now, its past that date.  Help.  Thanks

i am not an expert, but it might be related, so i just received approval notice from USCIS, i applied petition on january 2022 for un married kids. :), so just saying, for the time frame, good luck

Here's an update, we did get the new social security in the mail, so yay for that. No sign of the passport card being returned though. Guess we will give it another week or so and then call again

sorry to hear that, hope u will get back soon ur PC,

anyway, when u sent ur application,  have u/did u receive a letter/receipt from ur local SSA office, in my case, they sent my PC back along with the letter/receipt from local SSA.

and i just got new SS today. :) same number only different date of issue.

The whole process took a week, I first applied for my passport and passport card, I then filled out the SSN application and mailed it off with a letter stating that I am updating my citizenship status and included my passport card as evidence of citizenship. So if anyone is worried about SSA loosing their naturalization certificate, you don't have to mail that, just mail your passport card if you applied for one.

thank man, ur idea is brilliant, i did and sent all document exactly the same what u wrote in ur document and it worked here in san bernardino CA

    i sent PC+cover letter and form SS-5.

so they sent me back PC along with receipt letter from SSA, and it said just wait for about 2 week for new SSA.

    thank any way,

    Congratulations!

I am glad you are at the end of the process....

My application got floated around for 5 weeks before showing up as 'In Process'..... still waiting for approval, but mine is 'Regular'.

I still feel 4 weeks from 'In process' to 'Approved' for Expedited is still longer than average although it falls within their advertised timelines...

    thank you, 😁

i hope u will hear something from them soon,

    Hey guys,

My wife and I are working on getting our son a US Passport. We have a passport appointment for him in a week, but we will be moving from our current address at the end of June, and doubt that his passport will be ready by then.

Does the address on DS-11 for the applicant have to match the ID documents the parents provide to identify themselves?  For us, these would be my US Passport and her Permanent Resident card. Or can we list the new address on the DS-11 and avoid the hassle of having to forward the US Passport from our old to our new address months later?

    Thanks!

it doesn't have to match with the ID, but you should put the current address,

required photo ID only to see that u have ID or you are possessing the ID.

acceptance facility will ask you if in the application is current address,

well, it seems u wanna gamble with ur situation (ur address) by putting that's not current.

    but getting passport take time,

and also, if ur not in hurry to get the passport, why dont you wait until u move in.

anyway, the decision is in yours,

Not at all, even congressman that I asked for assistance, they can’t help too much  unless for family medical emergency , they reason out due to less people for passport processing. 😬😬 so delay expected.
yup for sure I’ll asked for refund until completely 6 week.
next weeks is the 6th 😬

i wanna update mine (expedite service )

04-05-2021 Applied passport at USPS near my location

04-26-2021 DOS received the application and  status changed " in process "

04-27-2021 Money Order is being cashed out.

05-25-2021 Status changed " Approved " and then after in minute it changed to " Shipped " from Tucson

05-27-2021 Passport arrived and i hold it 😁😁

since DOS received my application on 04-26-2021 so it is still in time frame for expedite service (4-6), but my application got floated in the air for 3 weeks  😁😁

    based on my experience

Called US center passport it will not change the processing time more faster, unless if u really have emergency, or want to change the service from " Routine to Expedite " --- CMIIWW 😁😁

Asked assistant to congressman in my area, i didn't get very well because the congressman team's reasoned out that my case is not emergency and bla,,bla, bla😁🤪🤪,

Passport card and NC still on the way, i hope it will arrive soon too.

I think I made common mistake, about amount of marriages, I understand question as how many before current one. :)

In my flight exam we had jammed ailerons in flight , so I was less nervous at that moment than now.

I also started thinking about questions about groups, clubs etc, do they meen political thing or even school PTO?

nervous reaction is pretty much normal in human being and just let it be. try not to remember about the interview for awhile. sit back and relax 😁 at least it can reduce the stress,

during interview and an hours before interviews stress usually come more intents, and just do what u think that can make u calm.

for me, stress and nervous will end after the interviewer called my name to let me in to his/her office for the process. But, inside the the office, it melted with the conversation between you and the interviewers,

    good luck 😊

You still didn't hear anything back? Honestly this is overwhelmingly long and not an expedited service. You should apply for a refund regardless. I remember I see someone posted in this topic around page 80-90 about request of refund as they didn't get their passport within the processing time.

And that's when the kiosk prints the receipt with a big X and you need to get interviewed like everyone else. I bet CBP isn't foolish enouh to have people bypass immigration issues just cuz they have global entry.

You are right the CBP is not a foolish enough,

as my experience the receipt with big X because i have the item to declare. That’s it and  no question how long have you been outside. Mostly in Secondary checking  Only related to or what the item is brought along with my bag. 🤪

This. You need to meet the continuous residence requirement all the way until you take the oath, but if you are out for less than one year you are only “presumed” to have broken continuous residence and can overcome that with proof of ties.

OP should never rely on what “some people say” when one can get the facts directly from USCIS. Scroll down to the section regarding an absence of more than 6 months but less than one year, and you can see they talk about this and the types of ties you can show https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-12-part-d-chapter-3

    Dang

lucky I didn’t get OP just like how u tot, if I had, may be I will fail 😬😬😂😂

    Hi All,

I am into a unique situation. I have applied for Citizenship (I have already met the residency requirement when I applied for citizenship) and after that I traveled to India. I have already stayed in India for 5 Months, and I have a return ticket in few days. However my personal commitments have not completed in India, for which I have to come back again in few months or stay in India for couple of months and then return to US.

I was thinking that If I stay in India for about 3 more months, like 8 months or so altogether (But strictly less than 1 year), and postpone the travel for 3 months to avoid unnecessary covid exposure while traveling. Also meanwhile the Covid wave in India settles down here and my elderly father and sister who are alone in India have my support, just in case there is any covid issue at my home in India.

    1) So my question is what are the consequences of staying for 8 Months outside India with regards to my next Port of Entry & CBP Interview ?

    2) Secondly What about my citizenship application, would it be void, what would be the effect on my N400 status ?

    3) 8 months will break the continuity of residency requirement for citizenship, but would I really need the continuity now as I already applied for N400 ?

    Please Help

    1. use global entry to avoid such interview, so no consequences, cos less contact. u just tap global entry, show the receipt to cbp and go,,done,

    2. no, and have you had the schedule for interview.

    3. well, this one i'm not sure, coz u will stay outside for 8 mount continuously. in my case, in total 5 years, i was out for almost 11 mount, but never travel more than 6 mount in a year that is longest that i had.

some people say if u have ties with united, so it doesn't matter, such as house, job,

    anyway, CMIWW,

I actually called the USPS yesterday and the lady over the phone was annoyed lol...but all I wanted to know is whether the documents were mailed out or not. She told me there's no tracking number and I should wait for a few days to check the status. But after a few hours I received the email from DOS stating that they received my documents and it's currently in-process. Not sure if this had something to do to speed up the mailing process?

Did you tell them that you have a trip on 05/23? If you do have a flight booked, I still feel there's should be a way to have them speed up, especially the USPS delivery took so long for you.

i told him about my travel plan and then he said it's impossible to get it done on time. so, i can't do nothing, he couldn't either 😭😭 . unless if the congressman called 😁😁 it might be something,.

i contacted congressman and sent my casework to him today, so, i hope it will double expedite 🤪🤪.

when u called USPS, were u able to get the info where they send the application ?

I am almost certain that it is not USPS, but the application being bounced around multiple locations before being processed. This accounts for the longer wait time before showing up as 'In process'. Please see my posts from yesterday on this topic...

😁 omg, i feel bad that i am accusing USPS for delaying the process. so, have u figure out why were they bouncing the application,,? and do u think, they will bounce around again while my application status in process.

i guess, this is the time i asked the congressman to get involve and i hope it works, 😁😁

BTW, DOS sent me an email indicating an application locator number, what is that used for exactly? is there a website that we can see which center is currently processing the passport by entering this locator number?

    Thank you!

No progress unfortunately, I called them (3 hours wait) and they said that I have to have an emergency proofed by hospital letter and flight ticket to get passport within 72 hours. I had ticket but no emergency letter so they said that I have to wait. I rescheduled my flight but still thinking about calling congressman.

New Hampshire center google reviews are horrifying, some people wait for 2-4 months.

sorry to hear that and thank you for share your experienced here. i've even got no idea where they sent my application tho, probably, i'll ask while i am calling them.

i really hope you hear something soon.
