Thank you! I sure will share my experience

Hello,
My AOS interview is tomorrow. When bringing the photo albums and rest of documents and we are called in, should we keep them on our laps or can we lay them out on the IO desk for easy quick access? At least the most requested documents such as : birth certificates, marriage certificate, divorce decrees and the bundle of bona fide marriage evidence.
I have everything organized with color tabs easy to identify from the folder organizer I am bringing, including a copy of original AOS package. Is it better just to pull the documents as they are requested?
This is what we are bringing to the interview. The last item on the list is just "in case" and wont' show if not necessary
Please feel free to advise on what to add to the list if I am missing something.
Thank you

Looks good to me! I haven't seen any list of suggested documents though.

Yikes! in two days I have my interview and I am excited, nervous, feeling butterflies in my stomach and I can't think of anything else.
I freak out to the thought that I may forget to bring something, so please help me to review my list of documents I am bringing and tell me if I am missing anything.
Thanks!

The answer is D/S and nothing else
-
I am also adjusting from F1, and I not only sent copy of my student visa but also every document issued by USCIS including every NOA I had received over the years and H4 visa with respective I-94
-
In my application I wrote : F1 ( out of status) and for Expiration : D/S. I wasn't lazy just because I didn't write any explanation in a separate piece of paper, as matter of fact I worked my @$$ off putting this package together. Check my signature, no RFE's, we did not hire an attorney, I did my own BC translation to English. Everything has gone just fine for us. Good luck

I am sorry for those who's offices are busy and it takes longer!
I guess I just got really really lucky, Milwaukee does not seem busy at all... I just received my green card in mail today, it only took 8 days. My interview was last Wednesday :joy:I am surprised, but can only give positive feedback to USCIS.
I hope you are not hating on me, because I got it so fast. But I really wish you all best of luck and hope you will have your GC really soon and I mean it!
I am truly happy for you! now you can sit and relax for the next 21 months until is time to apply for ROC. Our interview is next week and I still can believe we are almost at the end of the first and most stressing phase of this immigration journey

Today I applied for State ID and renewed my DL that was about to expire in Nov, also updated current address and married name. It took about 1hr wait, it was just like going to biometrics, fingerprints of all fingers , pictures and signature. I also have SSN already but need restriction to work authorization removed. I will wait to go to SS office until I get the green card. For now my new DL and State ID are valid for the duration of EAD which is one year, so next year I will have to renew them again.
-
Today I used my EAD to renew and update info in my DL so I can bring it to the interview with current address and married name, it was about to expire in Nov. The down side is that it is valid only for 1 year just as EAD, so I will have to renew it again next year.

We sent two copies, one per form just like you mentioned. We didn't hire an attorney, we did it on our own and it took us about 3 months to learn the process and understand how it needs to be done. It took us 3 solid weeks on putting everything together ( filling up forms, gathering documentation, double checking every line, every question, etc) , I did my own BC translation to English .It sure was a very overwhelming process

I received my EAD 4 days ago and my interview is a week from today. I thought I would never get EAD by the time of interview and once it was approved it came fast.

Thank you very much for your responses

Hello everyone,
It's been 8 years since I went to College and had F1 visa, I went out of status and when I could not afford school anymore. My interview is coming up and I have everything ready, I just wonder if there is a chance that I may be asked for school transcripts to show that I was going to school. I read someone was issued a RFE during the interview requesting the transcripts.
In my package I sent the different I-20's I had and every NOA's from USCIS I received when I changed visas (H4 to F1) including a denial letter from USCIS when I applied for EAD while on F1 visa due economic hardship.
At this point in my journey I have not received any RFE's and it has move pretty smooth and somewhat fast. Have anyone heard about this documents being requested? how common is it? or not at all?
Thank you

Guess what? I have EAD in hand! it arrived today!
:wow:
it suppose to be here until Monday but it was there waiting for me in the mailbox, what a great surprise!!!
I got it 4 days after email notification.
-
Yet another notification with tracking #, according to USPS my EAD is expected to be delivered on Monday 8/11
We are leaving town this weekend and won't be back until Tuesday midnite, I already talked to our neighbor to take care of our mail as usual when we are gone, and she will send me a text message when this particular letter arrives.
Interesting the destination that shows "shipment accepted" is in Corbin, KY. It was sent priority 2 days and includes $100.00 insurance.
-
I stopped by to wish you good luck! hang in there, be patient and never lose faith, stay positive and expect for the best
-
Congrats!
Thank you! counting down the days to interview

EAD is on its way!
"Application Type: I765 , APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION
Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production
On August 8, 2014, we mailed the new card directly to the address we have on file. You should receive your new card within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283." -
I'd posted this in another thread last night:
"I've been logging onto the USCIS website to check my case status regularly. My NOA1s have 4 consecutive numbers. Looking at the 4 numbers preceding mine, it is for a package dated the same as mine, same AOS package. Today their EAD changed to card production. The ones with numbers higher than mine also aren't yet in 'card production'.
I have a theory that they go in numerical order, all else being equal (no RFEs etc). I wonder if I will be proven correct or incorrect?"
Apparently I was correct, first thing this morning my EAD/AP card was changed to in production. Finally I will be able to legally change my name here!
Yay!! congrats! for what I read in several posts EAD card arrives about 7 days after status changed to be in production. We should get ours next week
We will be out of town until next Wednesday, I will ask our neighbor to pick up our mail like she always does when we are gone and to let me know when that special envelope arrives

Thanks for sharing, glad you were able to travel. I remember reading your concerns about not having your EAD/AP combo in time for your planned trip. Good luck in your interview and whenever it happens come and share your experience
FINALLY APPROVED!!! YAY!
in Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas

Congratulations!! what a journey and even if you guys had to wait this much longer, at the end was worth it. We have our interview today and even when we are ready and have all the evidence that our marriage is real, I can't help to feel nervous. I am praying for at least to be assigned to a non rude IO who won't make me feel even more nervous.
