  1. More good news! the ones I've been waiting for!! today I got the following in order:

    1-email/txt GC had been mailed.

2-NOA2 and welcome to USA letters in the mail

3-email/txt my GC has been picked up by USPS with tracking # scheduled to arrive in 2 more days. Same as with my EAD and it came the very next day! I would not be surprised if I find my GC in the mailbox tomorrow when I come from school! then it is time to celebrate for real!!!:P:dancing::luv::D

  2. Sorry to hear your experience. I do not understand why some IO make the interview more stressful and difficult than what it should be. We had our interview last week in Houston also and it went smooth. We were called in 13 mins before official time. We were not even requested to show marriage certificate or divorce decrees but we showed additional evidence we did not submit in original package. We were lucky to have an IO who did not intimidate us and was satisfied with our answers.

  3. I just got this email, now in a couple of more days I should get one more with the tracking number and my GC should be here next week! feeling happy again :dancing::luv::dance::D

"Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

On August 28, 2014, we mailed the new card directly to the address we have on file. You should receive your new card within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283. "

  4. So, we had our interview this morning. Not much to report, we had a very nice IO who approved us on the spot (and seemed to have his mind made about that already). We went over the forms, he then told us about the separate interview procedure - I was all ready and willing and eager - and then he told us that he won't do that, that's just for cases where there is suspicion  And parts of it were quite informal, like when we talked about a hobby of mine and we told him a funny story.

At the end he said he would approve us and asked if we had any other questions. I said "I can't think of any" and my husband went "know any good breakfast place nearby?" Um, lol? I was a bit embarrassed, but then the IO proceeded to tell us about good breakfast places...

Status on USCIS site isn't updated yet, but I suppose that takes a while. He also said he'd make sure my address is updated in the system, so that stuff gets sent to the right place. Yay, done for now! I'll just be watching the mailbox like a hawk in the next few weeks XD

Congratulations!! you just described me on how I stalk my mailbox every day. It has been a week already and I am definitely annoyed that I have not received the letters from now. I know the GC will take up 2 weeks when other people gets it in a week. The formality says wait 30 days but that rarely happens. I am just annoyed right now after checking my mail and nothing from USCIS :sleepy:

  5. I would recommend to go to ADMISSIONS at the campus you are planning to register and ask the questions. I just started College again and they accepted my interview letter to register and pay in district tuition. I still have to bring the GC once it arrives in the mail so I do not have any holds. I transferred my credits from previous college so the process was different for me, I didn't need to show vaccine records or have any placement test.

    Good luck!

  6. Here are the emails I've received so far. We were basically approved at the same time even though our interview was back in March of this year.

    8/19 - (I-485) - Card/document production - card ordered and allow 30 days

    8/20 - (I-130) - Post Decision Activity - approval notice mailed

8/20 - (I-485) - Decision - notice mailed and allow 60 days for permanent resident card to be mailed

    8/20 - (I-485) - Card/document production - card ordered and allow 30 days

    8/27 - (I-485) - Card/document production - card mailed to addess on file (yay!)

8/27 - (I-485) - Decision - notice mailed stating permanent resident card registered. Card should be mailed within 60 days

Their system is quite weird. We haven't received anything in the mail yet. I guess we'll get something by the end of the week. You'll probably get more texts or emails soon.

    Hope this helps.

    River

Wow so you had 3 emails about I-485, 2 of them saying saying the same, definitely a glitch in the system.

Good luck and please share when you received your letters and GC

  7. Thank you for your responses. I know the notification says the GC should be mailed within 60 days following the registration status, and I am curious in reality it will take to arrive. I've seen timelines that some people get it in a week after being approved.

I still need to show the GC to the admissions office at the College I am now attending to clear up that hold and get that out of the way ;)

  8. The day of our interview last Wednesday I got all the notifications of notice of approval for I-130 being mailed, card in production and permanent resident status registered. I am wondering if before you guys received the GC in the mail you also received notifications that it has been mailed with tracking #, just like EAD card? also, did your approval notices, welcome to America letters came before your GC?

    Thank you

  9. i just received my ssn card, ill be applying for driver's license tomorrow. will the expiration of my license be the same with my ead?

When I got my DL years ago with my F1 visa and presented I-94 which showed D/S ( no specific expiration date) I got the standard 7 yr DL . Now that I renewed it using my EAD the duration it is only 1 year just like EAD and on top of it has a legend with capital red letters saying "limited term driver license" , same thing with State ID. I will have to renew them next year using the CG which will be silly because again, the DL and State ID will be valid only for another year until is time to apply for ROC. As long as I have valid DL I don't mind going thru all this.

  10. No, there is no way to know. It's an internal thing they do.

I'm mostly saying that the more they suspect fraud the more likely you are to get an interview, but they do schedule interviews even for some people with very low likelihood of fraud.

Also note that many people have reported that the interviews were not too taxing.

If you read through this board, there is a lot of stressing (which is understandable) but very few people actually saying "I was denied and it was unfair."

Also, based on a discussion I had with an IDO, an RFE is usually issued when they feel they can approve with more evidence. So if what she told me is true, a thorough and responsive reply to an RFE, if you can do it, will often get an approval, not a transfer to a local office for an interview. Of course you have to be able to provide what they're seeking.

Thank you for your response. I have another question and I would like to hear your comments, at the end of the interview the IO explained the ROC process and was very clear that the evidence we need to submit should not be the same we sent in the AOS package as they already have it. We should send evidence of our bona fide marriage since the day the conditional GC was approved until is time to apply for ROC. I've read in other threads that some couples had received RFE's asking for evidence right from the very beginning. What are your thoughts?

    Thank you

  11. I believe they categorize cases according to the likelihood of fraud. Class A, the least likely, get 0-30% interviews depending on the office, Class B get 30-50%, and Class C get 100%. I think the actual cases are selected at random (of course there's not much randomness in Class C).

How do we know what class we have been categorized after being GC has been approved? does it show in the card?

    Thank you

  12. Hey congrats kristinanddan09, we're also expecting our first. x

We received an RFE for our ROC, our first, and we were floored. We learned that we were supposed to send shared evidence covering the span of the marriage, not just since AOS approval. So we went through our old filing evidence (for K-1, AOS, etc.) and pulled out as much shared evidence from 2009 to time of ROC filing as we could (anything with both of our names and same address). We also included a printout of a Facebook post asking all our US-UK friends and family to share their experiences with us, and sent it in. Include as much evidence since your marriage as you can, even if you think it's silly, LOL. I just wanted my husband with me; I didn't care what it took.

Oh really? wow!! that is what I thought all along until the IO at the end of AOS interview explained us the process about ROC and she was clear that the evidence we presented to adjust would not be necessary to repeat again since they have it all. What we need to submit is the evidence from the date we were approved (August 20, 2014) and on. Could it be the type of visa I was adjusting from? I understand each case is totally different, so I just wanted to mention what we were told by the IO.

  13. Didn't you receive a second letter with your interview letter where it explain about being arrested or detained and what to bring, how to handle that. How much was your fine?

This is how the letter starts:

"Notice to Applicant: If you have ever been arrested or detained by any law enforcement officer for any reason, you must bring the following to your adjustment of status interview:

    NOTE

You do not need to bring any document relating to any traffic fines and incidents that were not alcohol or drug related and did not involve actual arrest if the only penalty was a fine of less than $500 and/or points on your driver license.

And there is more detailed information in the letter about what to bring if you do not fall into the above category. Too much to print while I am trying to wake up sipping my coffee, but if you don't have the letter I can type the information for you when I am fully awake.

    :ot2:

The fact that you were arrested requires for you to bring documents from the court. Please read your letter carefully and find out which is the exact document you need to provide.

    Good luck

  14. Thanks! So they ship the album with the photos already inside?

They are basically a photo book. The pictures are printed in pages, the neat thing is that you get to choose the theme for the pages background and use captioning for each picture. You can also chose what cover you want. They are worth it, but like I mentioned in my other reply, I won't use Walgreens again for photo books, I want to give it a try to OfficeMax hoping for better quality. Walgreens photo album looks like you printed your own pictures in a glossy sheet, the color is not very bright and rather looks blurry.

  15. Thanks! Did you use tabs to separate the events?

Not at all, there were way too many pictures I spent 3 days sorting them out and placing them in the photo album. I did my best to put them in chronological order but at some point I did few pages of Christmas over the years, same thing with birthdays. I did some theme embellishments and some color background for some as if it was a scrapbook and they turned out really nice.

She flipped over the first pages and gave it back. She didn't get to see the birthdays, Christmas, camping trips, vacation, etc.

I wanted to be safe than sorry and prepared ourselves as if where to be scrutinized.

I also recently ordered a photo book from Walgreens of our vacation for my MIL, it was very cheap to my surprise, but I wasn't too thrilled with the quality of the pages, the look cheap tho. Next time I will try OfficeMax and expect better quality of paper.

  16. Been running around. Got my hard copy interview notice on Thursday. Went to SSA to change to my married name and got my DL renewed. I'm feeling great!

Now to start beefing up my packet for my interview.

Those of you that had interviews... How did you organize your photo album? I have to go buy one because all my photos are stored on the computer.

I used Walgreens and searched for discount coupons online, I save a lot of $ since I printed close to 1,000 pics. I did not use them all for the interview but because it was time to have a decent photo album of our trips, holidays, etc to enjoy any time we want rather than have them store in the computer for years. Our IO went through our wedding photo album page by page, and for the other one she just flipped thru the pages and made few comments.

  17. I just checker online on the USCIS website and I entered my receipt number and they said

"Card/Document Production"; " On August 22, 2014, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service."

So it is good right? I got it right? :dancing:

if that is for I-485 yes you are ready to celebrate because that is your Green Card!!

  18. Yes the scanned my passport and I know they have it somewhere in the system that I crossed the boarder. But no stamp in my passport or I_94... Do you know if there is anything else entry related that I can provide as proof? Or should I write a letter explaining the situation?

Your replies have been a tremendous help! Thank you!

Same situation here, last time I entered USA was via airport and I do not have a stamp on my passport but they scanned it with the current visa back then. During the interview the IO asked me for the date of last entry to USA and I gave her the date I wrote in the forms.
