  1. Hi, is there any government link or website that supports this plz? i know its true cos am a beneficiary but i have tried digging to get a site that support this but havent been able to find one.

    can anyone help

    http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/types/family/immediate-relative.html#12

"If you have been married for less than two years when your foreign citizen spouse enters the United States on an immigrant visa, his or her permanent resident status is considered “conditional.”"

    http://www.uscis.gov/green-card/after-green-card-granted/conditional-permanent-residence/remove-conditions-permanent-residence-based-marriage

"Your permanent residence status is conditional if it is based on a marriage that was less than 2 years old on the day you were given permanent residence. You are given conditional resident status on the day you are lawfully admitted to the United States on an immigrant visa or adjustment of your status to permanent residence."

  2. I've reviewed the wiki and guides and can't find the answer to this one. Can someone confirm that for my interview, I don't need to bring originals of the docs already sent to NVC in my AOS/IV package?

(Otherwise I need to reapply for new birth certs, marriage certs etc.)

    I don't believe I do, I just want to double-check.

    Thanks!

EDIT: OK, I've confirmed I don't need the originals. But I do need copies. And of course the originals I sent were the last ones I had and I didn't copy them. Oops, and Damn!

  3. Dwheels is right. In addition the medical report will be sent to the embassy after the medical. If they haven't received your case or even heard of you at the time the medical is done there is a fair chance of the medical stuff getting lost (no file to match it to).

It's done slightly differently in Ireland. Here you collect the medical results from the Doctor's office yourself, and bring them with you to the interview.

It's totally possible they also send them to the Embassy separately; I'm just not aware of that being the case.

  4. I know.... chancing it seems silly, but it's been SO EXPENSIVE. The cost of the medical is 300euro. yikes!!

I just found this on the CDC website from July 2014. It seems that one year is ok?

How long is the overseas medical examination of aliens valid?

For applicants examined in countries using the 1991 TB Technical Instructions, the medical exam is valid for:

    • 1 year if the applicant does not have a Class A condition or a Class B tuberculosis (TB) condition;
    • or 6 months if any of these conditions exist.

For applicants examined in countries using the 2007 TB Technical Instructions (now referred to as the Culture and Directly Observed Therapy [DOT] Technical Instructions), the medical exam is valid for:

    • 6 months if the applicant does not have a Class A TB, Class B1 TB, or HIV condition;
    • or 3 months if any of these conditions exist.

But, no. I know you are right. A follow up and new labs are a good idea. I'll have him talk to the Dr's office as soon as we get that interview packet. SIGH!

The medical is listed on the Dublin embassy site as being €350. Unfortunately it's recently gone up and I was charged €395 for mine last week.

  5. OK, call me dumb if you all know this already, but I didn't realise there were two ways into the CEAC portal.

If you type in ceac.state.gov it will automatically bring you to https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/

    On that page you'll see...

    IMMIGRANT

If you click those options you can then submit your case details and see your status, payment status for AOS/IV etc.

But if you go to https://ceac.state.gov/IVinstead, you get a different portal. You submit your case details there too, but the information is presented differently.

The reason I mention this is that I was watching the first one for the AOS "PAID" to change to "N/A" so I'd know I had gone Case Complete. But when I went Case Complete it didn't change - and still hasn't. It's only when I go through the second portal that I see "N/A" next to my AOS fee.

This probably isn't news to you guys, but I thought it might be useful in some cases.

  6. Does anyone know the exact fees to pay after the case number is sent ? Im hearing different things from different people. Supposedly the fees have changed.

    AOS is $120 per case.

    IV is $325 per immigrant.

(i.e. if you have children that are also immigrating as part of your case then it's an additional $325 per person.)

  7. Good morning I hope everyone had a great Thanks Giving day!!!!!!!!! Question when am I supposed to get all my originals that I sent to NVC at the time of the interview or do they will mail them to the beneficiary house. The interview is Dec 15 and I'm starting to get everything ready.. Thanks in advance.

NVC send them to the embassy before your interview.

If you log into the CEAC site, you can check the status.

    https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

It will say "At NVC" first, then "In Transit" while the package is on its way to the embassy, then "Ready" when it arrives at the embassy.

  8. In my past experience when you are getting a "call failed" message on Skpye that means the NVC lines are busy. When that happens I just sit there and redial as many times as it takes back to back to get through. Eventually, every time I tried I got through. As of last night I am now getting an "invalid phone #" message. When I delete and re-enter the contact ....same thing. I waited overnight , tried it again... same thing. Is anyone else calling NVC from outside of the U.S getting an "invalid phone number" error message or actually able to get through to the NVC from another coutry?. It seems as though this system is no longer working and something has changed. At least from Thailand. :.(

I was getting the same thing yesterday from Ireland. I dialled over 100 times, and out of those tries, three times the call started to ring, but skype cut it off very quickly saying it hadn't been answered. (The message was "Call, no answer".) All the other times I received the "Call, failed" message. I think that's what skype says now when the line is busy.

I switched to Google Hangout, and got through on the 13th try. (I was then in the NVC call queue for 14 minutes until the call was answered.)

  9. What's the definition of "Scan Date" for AOS/IV packages?

Is it the date in this line in the letter that NVC send you which states...

"The National Visa Center (NVC) received your documents on XX-XXX-14"

(I was under the old system where I sent them them separately)

Or is it some random date soon after that when they touch/process the package in some way?

I suspect this is an old chestnut, but I've read Saylin's guide, and searched the forums and can't find the exact answer.

I'm going to ring them today, but I want to have my facts straight before I do.

[uPDATE: OK, a further search seems to have answered my question. Someone on the forum said NVC told them you only receive that letter/email after your package has been scanned into the system.]

  10. Although at a quick glance the NVC website and AOS FAQ don't explicitly say that they require the original forms, I would be very hesitant to send in a copy. It may take a week or two for the original form to be mailed from the US to Australia (get them to send it express - you probably want to track it anyway), but that's nothing compared to the delay you'll face if you get checklisted for sending a copy instead of an original.

According to the I-864 instructions, it needs to be the original.

    http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864instr.pdf

"Each application must be properly signed and filed. A photocopy of a signed application or a typewritten name in place of a signature is not acceptable."

  11. have you called them? so its not our faults but its theirs?

I thought i made mistake on part 5, item 1..

I just cant accept this :crying:

Be careful. There's lots of good advice in the forum, but not everyone's case is the same.

    Your checklist says...

"In Part 5. Sponsor's Household Size, please correct the following...
[x] Item 1. The number of sponsored persons must match the number listed in Part 3, Item 7."
To me... - that means that if you resend the form without correcting that item, you'll just get another checklist for the same item.
