I have filed single already. But wanting to Amend. It’s proving to be difficult. Maybe I should file married separate and when he comes Amend again and file jointly so I don’t have to owe irs
Well if you've already filed single, then you really shouldn't do anything at this point. Wait until your husband has his visa and is here in the USA, and then you can get a social security number for him. Then file an amended return married filing jointly, and you won't even have to mess with the ITIN.

I filed as Married filing jointly and had no problems at all. I sent in the form W-7 along with my form 1040 and the supporting schedules. I sent a certified copy of my wife's Costa Rican passport and a certified copy of our marriage license as support. It was approved about 5 weeks later and the supporting documentation was returned by US mail. About a week after that I received our refund by direct deposit.

We have been up for an appointment since Dec. 27th. I'm getting frustrated with all the waiting. I have called several times and they just tell me the same thing, that we have to wait for them to schedule.
Which consulate are you waiting on? Why is your timeline not completed? Please take the time to fill it in with the correct dates and information.

I have a quick update on my case that was processed through the Potomac service center. My priority date was 8/14/2017, NOA-2 approval date was 2/14/2018 (a nice Valentine's Day surprise!), and I just called the National Visa Center and they confirmed that they just received my case yesterday 2/28/2018. She said a NVC case number had not been assigned yet, but recommended I call back in about 1-2 weeks and a case number should be assigned by then. Good luck to all of those still waiting!

Hi everyone, I filed the I-130 petition for my wife on August 10th and received the hard copy NOA1 with notice date August 15th. Our case was routed to the Potomac Service Center. Settling in now for the long wait for the NOA2. I'm flying to Costa Rica to visit her for a few days over Labor Day weekend and then again in late October for about a week. Trying to visit as often as possible to make the time go by quicker!

I think you're fine. The copies are not really used for anything, except for your reference down the road. So the computer copies are okay. The only potential problem might be if it somehow gets lost in the mail on the way to the Texas lockbox, but if you sent it Express mail with a tracking number then that shouldn't be an issue either.

Just back to the hotel from the interview, we are approved! I will provide more details when I get back home next week. Good luck to everyone!
Congratulations!

You should get the electronic notification within 24-48 hours. Then the hardcopy should come in the mail within about a week to 10 days.

One slight problem with the Kiev embassy is the don't have the instructions written in Russian... and in many parts of southern and eastern Ukraine they speak predominately Russian. My fiancee is having a little trouble understanding the instructions because she is from Odessa and only speaks & understands Russian.

Hi On3H34rT, that's exciting news and I love Odessa! My fiancee is from there as well, and I was there visiting her most recently for about two weeks in early July. We stayed right near the beach in Arcadia.
We are about 3/4 of the way through the grueling fiancee visa process, and will be scheduling her interview in Kiev soon! I just received our case number from the NVC last week.
I don't think you'll have any problem at all being approved for a K-1 visa. Being denied a tourist visa doesn't matter... it's rare or pretty much impossible for someone from Ukraine to get a tourist visa, especially someone younger and single.

I'm in a similar situation as you, jstset. My NOA2 was 6/29/2015, but I still don't have a case number from the NVC. The last time I called was 8/06 when they told me to email nvcresearch@state.gov. I did that on the evening of 8/06, and haven't received a response yet. My guess is it will take at least a week to get a response, probably more. I try not to worry too much (yet), but it certainly seems strange that it would take this long.

My NOA2 date is July 2, 2015
It's been barely over a month.. I've called NVC every day these past 2 weeks and they always say they haven't received it
I'm checking other timelines here.. and I see that people with later NOA2 dates.. are already at the embassy!
Should I be concerned? Is it common for the NVC to go out of order or is my case missing now?
Thank you so much... This is my first time posting but I've read through these forums a lot and I'm SO grateful for all the support from the community here
I'm in the same boat with a similar NOA2 date (6/29/2015). I call NVC almost every day too, but they always say they still don't have it in their system.
aidansven, please create a timeline and fill in your dates!

We wer aproved around the same time. I received our approval text on June 30 saying the petition was approved June 30. Did you receive a hard copy NOA2? I still have not received the hard copy. I called USCIS - they say do not have my petition. NVC says they do not have my petition. if neither place has it then where is it?? I will call NVC again late this afternoon. If they still do not have it I will be calling my congress woman Tuesday morning for assistance.
Yes, I received my hard copy NOA2 around July 10th. Yesterday I sent an email to the NVC using their "Public Inquiry Form" asking for the status of my case. I doubt it will be of much help, but we'll see. I will also call them again in a couple of days.

My NOA2 was June 29th from CSC, and we still don't have an NVC case number. It's been 32 days as of today. I've called many times these past couple of weeks, and it's always a similar response - "it usually takes at least 35 days for cases to show up in our system..." Yesterday I called again and pressed for a little more information. I told them I know of other people who have received their case numbers in under two weeks, so why was mine taking so long? I asked if there was any logic to the order they come from the service centers, and the operator said "I'm not privy to that information." Then I asked if there was anything else I could do at this point, and he basically said no. He said they don't start taking additional steps to find an approved case until it's closer to 2 months past the NOA2 notice date. So annoying and frustrating!

Well, it's been 32 days since our NOA2 (June 29th), and we still don't have the NVC case number yet. I called again this morning, and they give me the usual "it takes at least 35 days for our system to be updated with your case information... blah, blah, blah." Should I be worried? Is there anything else I can do?

YAAAAY we got the case number today!! And they already sent it to the Embassyy yyAAAYYY:-)) It's in transit according to the CEAC site:-) Somewhere I read we need to pay some fee electronically...Is it true? What is the DS-260 form? I olny found something about the I-134 Affidavit of Support form (it's on the visajourney's K1 Guides, but I couldn't find anything about the DS-260)... I am getting excited because it's my turn and I feel I don't know nothing:-D
Keep up the faith!
Congratulations! I've been trying to call the NVC to (hopefully) get our case number, but haven't been able to get through. I guess I'll try back at 7:00am tomorrow morning. That seems to be the best time to call.
-
Totally agree!!We're still waiting for some updates and it would be so frustrating to call them every day... Probably you get the same bad news for days..:-(( BTW greetings from Kennesaw:-)
Greetings! I live in Kennesaw too, right off Barrett Parkway! It sure is a small world. Good luck to you - I sure hope we get our NVC case numbers soon!

Hello. No she needs to ask about one police certificates for Ukraine.
Okay, thanks Humble bee!
-
I'm a little confused about police certificates for Ukraine. My fiancee has lived in 3 different oblasts since she was 16. Does she need a police certificate from each individual oblast? Or does she only need one police certificate that covers all of Ukraine? Thanks!

You would think the NVC would invest in an online system where petitioners could enter their US CIS case number, and have it automatically search for the NVC number. It would be simple to set up, and save operators having to answer hundreds (probably thousands) of calls every day!

I just got my NOA2 approval after RFE!!! Almost can't believe it. Of course my Fiancee is sleeping and won't know until morning Thanks to everyone who helped keep me sane to this point! I'm am really wishing the remaining April filers get caught up soon, it's really crazy the order things are processed. I guess I need to figure out what to do next!
Congrats!! Finally the hardest part is over. I also need to figure out what to do next!

We just got our NOA2!! This is incredible timing for it to happen too. I am flying today to visit my fiancee in Ukraine. My connection is in Frankfurt... I got off the plane, turned on my cell phone, and then a text message from US CIS popped saying our case had been updated! So then I was frantically running around trying to find a wifi hotspot so I could see what the update was. Finally after about 15 minutes, I logged in and there was the approval notice!!
Now I'm sitting here in the terminal waiting on my connecting flight, and chatting with her about this great news! In a few hours we'll be together to celebrate! I'll be coming back home in two weeks (July 12), perfect timing to call the NVC for our case number on Monday the 13th.

in Tax & Finances During US Immigration

Yes, good point. She is fine as far as the IRS is concerned, but it won't look so good at the interview in Casablanca if she has a 2017 tax return filed with status single. It's not good evidence of "co-mingling of finances."
