Hey all, just thought I'd tell a little about my experience in Montreal. My appointment was at 9:30 am, but I got there an hour early at 8:30 am as recommended by some on here. I took a deep breath and nervously walked in the doors of the consulate showing my interview letter to the security guards at the entrance. They did the usual security thing like at an airport and then it was up to floor number 19! Got there and checked in with the young lady at the counter rght off the elevator. She gave me ticket number 7 and told me to sit down and wait until they called my number. At around 9:45 am I was called to desk number !. All they asked for was the usual at first, passport, medical results, and the 2 pictures. Of all the paper work and copies of civil docs I took there all they wanted was a copy of my wifes divorce decree from her first marriage. I had sent in origianls of the civil docs so they had already made their own copies. Of course they also took my finger prints. Then I sat back down awaiting my call to the famous window number 7! The young guy before me came back from window 7 with a no, and I thought oh no I'm probably next so I sure hope I get a better answer. Everything was going smooth until he got on the topic of my wife having lived outside the USA here in Canada the last 12 years. Yes the domicile issue in Canada is true! But then he said I was approved and they were satisfied with the evidence we provided them. I was so happy and thanked him 2 or 3 times and even said if I could shake your hand I would. He just told me I was welcome and to have a nice day.

I'm trying to keep a positive attitude all. It's been 2 weeks since I sent in the corrected I-864 after receiving a checklist. At least I'm 2 weeks closer to a cc than I was before.

I'm feeling more stressed about this every day. I can't get over that dumb mistake on the I-864. So we entered the gross income wrong? We sent the IRS tax transcript in with it that showed the proper amount anyways. I know the rules are the rules, but why would they want to create more work for themselves when they're already got piles of cases to review? All my family are looking so forward to us getting down there. I've been married to my US wife long enough that I'm a complete part of the family and an Uncle and a Grand Dad to the kids. I know I'll get there eventually. Been married to my US wife almost 12 years now so they can see it's definitely not a marriage of convenience. Ok I vented and feel a little better now. lol

You're welcome JeffinMX,
The main thing is to enter the US poe with the sealed package they give you within a certain time frame. If you don't, then there could be problems. With me being a Canadian citizen and my wifes Canadian permanent residency good for another 6 years, there's no reason we can't come back here for a while. If by some remote chance we get pulled by a cop for a spot check etc. I'll just show my green card and tell him we're back up to get more stuff to take down, which is not a lie.

Hi savagechair,
Fortunately for me the border to USA is just a short drive down the highway, so I'll be crossing at the border to Niagara Falls, N.Y. right after I get my approval. We plan on driving down to our home in North Carolina and getting our N.C. drivers licenses and switch the ownership and plates to N.C as well, then we'll come back up to Canada to tie up loose ends and drive down there for good end of June 2014. I already confirmed with USCIS that this is ok. They said, once you enter as a permanent resident I can come back to Canada as long as I'm not outside the USA for more than one year.

Thanks again AusitnCanada
I've never been with family in USA for their Thanksgiving so it would be kind of special. At least my wife is here in Canada with me, and I'm not actually retiring from my job here until end of June next year. We are just doing this ahead of time so that when I retire, we can just head on down there.

Hi again all,
I mailed in the corrected I-864 as per the checklist we received, as well as other docs they requested on July 9th. I haven't heard anything yet? Will it be yet another 30 days or so before we hear anything?

Hi all,
I sure hope to hear good news soon as I know the rest of you do as well. My civil docs arrived at the NVC on May 28th and my AOS docs arrived on June 2nd. That's all I know. If I don't hear of any updates in a week I'll give them a call. I thought about calling before, but I just figured it will happen when it happens. I'll watch for good news from others who's docs arrived when mine did.

Hi AustinCanada,
At least you've got a short trip compared to us! We're going from Toronto to coastal N.C. I'll try and get my timeline done. Will have to look back at my receipts and notices. I am so stressed out with all this just like most of us are, so try not to think about it so much other than when I'm on here. Just playing the waiting game as there's not much I can do to make it any faster. I figure calling them might give me some info, but don't think it'll really help much. Good luck!

This was about the most confusing part for me too! My wife (sponsor) is here in Canada with me, but we already have a US address where we'll be living so do we put her current Canadian address, or soon to be US address? Also, my wife will be moving to the USA with me, but not immigrating as she is a US citizen, she's just moving back home so do I say no to that question?

Hey all!
I'm from the September filers group, and we were just contacted by NVC yesterday by email with our NVC case number and instructions on the AOS form and fee as well as information on filling out the online DS-261 form. Getting excited here! Things are coming along! Good luck to all!

No we never called. I kept thinking of calling but never got around to it. To tell you the truth, I was beginning to get kind of stressed out with all this, so thought I'd just relax, sit back and try not to think of it all so much. Then all of a sudden, we got the emails!

Woooohoooo! Got 2 emails today from NVC! One was directed towards my wife (sponsor) stating the petition she filed for me is ready for processing at the NVC along with a case number and instructions on how to pay the AOS fee which we did right away. The other one was directed to me which included my case number, invoice id number, and beneficiary id number. It explained how I will need to fill out the form DS-261 online. I guess I should be putting this in the NVC forum. Anyone else get emails like this yet from NVC? Best of luck to all!

I feel for those not approved yet, hoping to see good news of more approvals real soon! I went to the Doctors last week and had whats called a blood titers test to verify my immunities and get whatever necessary shot updates needed along with a printout and immunization card. I read somewhere else this is good to do, and will save time when eventually getting your physical cause if you don't have them, the immigration doctor will make you take care of all that and then have to go back again with the results.
