Just got a txt message to check my status and we have been approved (CSC filer) 😎😁 No more USCIS contact for a while me thinks. As long and my card arrives without delay. Good Luck to all left waiting! hopefully you will all be done soon.

Posted this in the wrong forum last night, I received the 18 month extension last night. CSC filer. Glad I don’t have to get the info pass appointment hopefully 6 more months is long enough to get processed without any hiccups
-
Got the 18 month letter today, CSC filer
-
Looks like there are some approvals coming from the May Filers thread from CSC so hopefully we will have approvals in the next 6 months before our 18 month letter runs out..... when we get that letter of course.
-
Damn why is CSC so far behind. My GC expires Oct so hoping to get the extension letter before September otherwise info pass appointment for me.
As for traveling on extension letter I never had an issue flying into Detroit.

No kids here. I think they will send the letter to people whose extension letters have expired. Mine expired on 8/7/18, I believe.
But you have your stamp? So the extension letter is mute really. They left it late to mail them out would of thought they would auto send the 18 month letter when they changed the time limit.

I would imagine Detroit is a pretty busy office.
I Just checked for appointment this morning, and there were a bunch available maybe I'm just early. But gives me hope that i will be able to get one. Going to wait till the end of the month to book one to see if this letter arrives... or better the green card but chances of that are looking pretty slim. Processing times say 18-21 months 🙄

Every time I have gone to the info pass page to make an appointment it always says no appointments available and to check back later. I have checked every day for a week and never anything available (Pittsburgh, PA office)
I read in another thread to check at midnight. not sure if you have tried this.

You will need your passport, your green card and Extension letter. Also you should have your ID ( Driver License) with you.
Make a copy of your expired green card - just in case if they gonna keep it in exchange foe a stamp.
Hope your local Office is not that busy - good luck with making an appointment!!!
I've just checked they are full right now guess ill try for the next couple of weeks to get one.
thanks,

Get the stamp....less to carry. It's one item to how at customs and immigration.
Definitely worth the pain booking and going to the appt.
What exactly do i need to do? is it an InfoPass Appointment?
Cant seem to find any information on the USCIS website.

Hi Guys quick question,
I haven't received an updated extension letter yet wondering if i should be planning to get a stamp or just wait out for the letter or hopefully GC turns up. My current extension runs till October. wondered what others are doing in similar situations.
-
sorry i guess i found it, case was last updated in march says that it is at my local office. does that mean its nearly over ha
-
What website and information do people use to check there status feeling like we should be hearing something soon.
thanks in advance

Biometrics just done in Detroit got there 15 minutes early straight in and out before my 1100 appointment time. Now what just the waiting game??
-
Hi guys
Form sent July 8 arrived July 10 check showing as pending July 12

You can't file an I-90 before you have a green card to replace.
On green cards they use (Forename) (Middle initial) (Surname). Not sure how this works with multiple middle names though. I suspect they will just initial the first one and forget the rest.
You should wait and see what name actually shows up on your green card when you receive it.
thanks
thats what i thought might have to happen. guess i will play the waiting game.

hi guys,
now this is slightly confusing but here goes. my green card has not been issued yet but on a visit to the SSA to get my SSN that didnt arrive in the post. there is an issue with my name. i have 2 miiddle names and the DOS or whoever have issued my green card using my middle names as part of my first name for example.
my name is Jamie (first) Lee Crombie (middle) Main (last) and immigration have my name as Jamie Lee Crombie (first) Main (Last)
this has caused me issues at the SSA because there field to place my first name in didn't have enough characters thus meaning they had to get in touch with them delaying my production of my SSN. the lady has advised me to get in touch with USCIS otherwise my green card is going to has all 3 of my names as my first name which is incorrect.
having tried to call them the guy on the phone asked me for an ioe number which I didn't have and I also don't have a receipt number to log in to the elis site. I have filled in the contact me page twice no Idea when they will get around to that.
I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get this sorted. its not a massive issue I just would like to be correct otherwise it may get confusing in the future.
I have read the instructions on the I-90 and I know I can change it by filing that but I don't have my green card yet so should I just wait till it comes? my idea was to try sort it before they produce it.
thank you jamie

Hay Guys,
just wondering where people find there receipt number to check on the elis site.

Correct. An unmarried foreigner visiting the US has no basis for applying for a greencard/AOS.
A foreigner who married a U.S. Citizen yesterday, now has an immediate relative. Last week...no adjustment. Today okay. Right?
I am not advocating or promoting anything. I mainly wanted you to see that USCIS did make a ruling in the form of a memorandum to adjudicators after it was hit or miss 4-5 years ago with no direct guidance.
My point is if that is the correct way to do it then no one for countries with VWP would require a K-1 fiancé visa. And just travel to the states and marry to adjust status.
-
Jay--there is a USCIS policy memorandum about it. http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/nativedocuments/2013-1114_AOS_VWP_Entrants_PM_Effective.pdf
Note on page 2
INA section 245( c)(4) renders aliens admitted under the VWP ineligible to adjust status to that of a person admitted for permanent residence. This provision, however, includes an exception for immediate relatives of U.S. citizens. Thus, an individual admitted under the VWP who is also an immediate relative is not precluded from seeking adjustment of status, even after the VWP period has expired.
You are right it wouldn't work for everybody like those not eligible, ie. communicable diseases, no financial sponsor, no immunizations, not knowing a thing about the wife at an interview.
But you would not be a immediate relative until the wedding. It's about of a minefield and could be seen either way.
-
I have read a lot of reviews of people who adjusted from VWP successfully. Their interview was just like any adjustment from K1 or other visa. Intention was not brought up in discussion, much less asked to be proven.
I don't doubt that people have done it, doesn't mean it would work for everyone.
So it's okay to get married in the US on a tourist visa /WVP as long as you go home after and don't try and adjust status, even if you intend to file for a CR-1 from your home country?
That is exactly what I did.
