Our case has been stuck at the NVC since 12/30/2013. I feel your pain. Like you I thought that it would not be there long and made an interview appointment only to have to cancel it later.
Have they told you on phone why they have kept ya case file for so long as that's awful?
-
If you are in AP at NVC it takes as long as it takes usually they are done within 8 weeks. You can call all you want a supervisor can't help you they will just sy you are in AP call back in 30 days.
But yes its normal for AP.
Another 8 weeks of our lives wasted then :(
This whole process has been a nightmare from the start!!
-
Our k1 case has now been stuck at the NVC going on 3 weeks and we are starting to think this is not normal and something is wrong. If I call the NVC on Monday can I ask to speak to a supervisor? Is 3 weeks Normal wait time for AP?
-
wow, that really doesn't sound bad at all!
Did they weigh you? that's definitely the one thing I want to get around
Yea they weighed me as well haha and checked height. I'm actually shorter than I originally thought! 5 foot 9 inches haha

Congratulations!
What are all the things they did at the medical?
I know they do the chest x-ray, blood test and take your blood pressure, anything else?
They did vaccinations first then chest x-Ray then check up which included blood pressure then finally took blood sample. All done in around an hour.
-
Just finished my medical and passed with flying colours. Was a good experience. Doctor who did examination and blood was really a nice guy as was all the staff. Don't know what all the worry is about. Now it's on too the waiting game
If ya have any questions don't hesitate to ask....

would that be okay even though i have a lawyer that is helping me with my case??? would it delay or affect the processing of my husbands petition?
I don't see how but I would ask the senators office that question when you call.
-
Your a different visa to mine but I assume same things apply. You will need to contact your local senators office and ask to speak to a immigration specialist. Tell them what's happened and they should ask you to fill out a form which grants them access to the case information. Once they get that they get involved by calling the USCIS etc and making enquiries and find out what's going on.i actually have a lawyer but it seems like they are not proactive with inquiring or following up the petition. how do i get a senator involve with my case?
i have called uscis today and they have sent a request for an officer to call me back in regards to my petition and they told me i can also call again tomorrow.

do you have an interview date yet?
Nope the NVC gave me my case number on January 9th and since then have sat on my case whilst all the other cases around me was sent on after a couple of days. Been doing research in to the NVC and K1s have no need to be held for so long as NVC don't have anything to do with them other than to package it and send it to US embassy.
-
Have my medical tomorrow morning but my case is still stuck at NVC. Thought it would of been sent on by now as been over 2 weeks. Getting very concerned now as was put though a nightmare with the USCIS and I'm stating it feel the NVC are going to do the same!
-
Well today marks a week that it has been at the NVC. Keep checking the status online. Another thing you can do is send them an inquiry at NVCInquiry@state.gov. Hopefully you get word soon. Think of it this way yes you haven't gotten the news that you are looking for but you are a lot further along in the process than some other people are. Imagine if you were still waiting for the approval. Like you said you waited 8 months for approval so what is a week or 2 to have your approved petition sent to the consulate for interview scheduling. Good luck and hold strong it's a trying process but a worthwhile one.
Have my medical tomorrow and case is still stuck at NVC. Getting very annoyed and worried now.

what does IMO and ISO mean? how can i get this petition going? pls provide more info. i need help bad! petition has been filed since oct. 23, 2013 and until now its taking forever..... need help bad!
IMO stands for In My Opinion and I don't know what ISO stands for but I'm guess a immigration officer. Think you should call the USCIS and ask to speak to a supervisor and ask where your case file is located as you think it maybe lost or misplaced due to the time. I don't know if you have a congress or senate person involved in your case but if you do you can ask them to call as well as they get straight through to the supervisors and find out more info.

The son would be an 1-130 that processes at NVC, so maybe a different time thing.
Rich and Chrissy-- I have known of K1s getting hung up at NVC from time to time in my history of being on VJ. Sometime a whole bunch and other times just the one case. I din't really have any magic solutions to suggest.
That's ok Nich-nick you have been awesome through out this process. It's just so frustrating not being able to do anything other than wait.
-
My sister in law is petitioning to bring her son over (he is a minor), and they have had her papers for 2 weeks now. We are working with the congressman's liason, and the NVC told her that they are extremely back logged, and are telling people to expect about a month.
That is depressing to think we have to wait another month! This process is a joke
-
Just wanted to know if anyone else is stuck at the NVC and is still waiting for there case to be sent to embassy? Been waiting 2 weeks now whilst other people wait as little as 2 days. A fellow British filer who's case arrived a day after ours has since had there case sent on and done all the rest and is now on the interview stage! So frustrating. :(
-
Been stuck in AP for almost 2 weeks now thought the nightmare was over when we got approved!
-
What about both parents?
Yep both our parents are clean as well
-
Is there a reason as to why? Like any crimes or Muslim related
Nope neither of us have criminal records and both are not Muslim or even religious at all.
-
Found out today that our case is in AP and has been since January 9th. There goes our hopes of being back together next month! :(

It's a holiday in the US (Martin Luther King Jr. day), so government offices are closed. They'll be open tomorrow.
Just called the DOS and says there closed

They need a London case number. Starts with LND2013#######
I would give the knightsbridge people a call, and tell them that you havent got your case number yet, but would it be possible to get the medical now, and for them to hold on to it until you get you LND number.
A five minute phonecall should solve your problem hopefully. They are normally pretty helpful!
I have my case number. It just says on CEAC site that my case is 'at NVC'.
-
My medical is booked for Friday morning. My NVC case status still says 'at NVC' so hopefully the London consulate will receive the application and medical results at around the same time. Do u think this is ok? Also when shall I complete the DS-160 online form and the form to let them know i am ready for interview and I have everything in hand?
I have noticed that all the cases around mine at NVC apart from the 1 above mine (change last number like at USCIS) say 'READY' and none say 'IN TRANSIT'. All where received on the 9th as well.
-
Hi Rich / Chrissy, have you heard anything more about your petition? Ours still says 'In Transit'.
Not heard anything. Case status still says 'at NVC'
-
eh - if DoS is seeing wonky information,
I pray a Data God steps in and fixes that shyte, nowish.
There are so many disconnects in this journey from bad data and improperly programmed data systems, it's going to suck if the data store that DoS uses, which is considered GOSPEL, is 'off' as well.
Could he what screen they was checking it from. The man asked my date of birth and name etc etc but the lady didn't she just took case number and answered straight away.
K1 stuck at NVC for 3 weeks now :( need advice please!

Yea that's same as what I get told. Gave up on calling now. I thought the USCIS was bad but at least they told my congressperson what was going on and what they was waiting for etc and that took 8 months and got a bad feeling the NVC are going to be worse. What annoys me the most is all the background checks etc where done by the USCIS so they have absolutely no need to keep hold of a k1 case longer than a few days.
